  1. Use a screw extractor
  2. He has variously claimed it to be a 73 and a 75. It originally had a rosewood neck but he had the neck changed to maple jazz as he couldn’t see it properly in the dark and preferred the slimmer neck, calling it “more ladylike” you can see the neck quite narrow at the nut in that photo. The red has faded a lot, though that’s hardly uncommon I always thought the pickguard was black but it’s actually dark tort he claims to have been given it by his parents after “under a blood red sky” when he was playing an Ibanez of some sort and before Joshua tree so sometime around 1984
  3. I’d get the squier
  4. Walk, is my vote
  5. Probably truer these days than in the past…
  6. Yes, like the green too
  7. There’s something not right about that, it’ll come to me in a moment 🫣
  8. Penicillin was discovered in 1928? One reason why fewer soldiers died in ww2 insulin was also discovered in the 1920s?
  9. Is that a lie ? Wrong thread Mister
  10. It looks good and says Fender on it. Next question ?
  11. Just watch “call the midwife”…
  12. Goodnight John Ross, goodnight Mary Ellen?
  13. Neck thrus are more complicated, I get that they cost more to make still 1950s tech - a biblical lifetime ago would you trust your life to 1950s medicine?
  14. It’s mostly 1950s tech rather than rocket science
  15. Totally agree. I’d pay for someone with a mortgage to make something that only I wanted. No mass manufacture bass is worth north of £1k IMHO
  16. I’d find an Indonesian fender easier to shift in a hurry than an Indonesian squier, so the extra outlay might pay off
  17. We demand pictures documenting this quest (by proxy, in our case)
  18. Agreed but it’s not three times better, and I object to paying three times as much. The average punter is going to look at these basses, vaguely recognise the shape, maybe read the headstock and take a another slurp of beer above 700 it boils down to “I want” no one else than a fellow bass player is even going to notice and that is where vanity starts
  19. I actually think some recent fender items have been quite brave
  20. Looked at from the other side of the coin, if you don’t mind paying a smidge more for the name you’re actually getting an acceptable bass with enough financial headroom to turn it into what you want, and I don’t buy the argument that a U.S. jazz ultra is three times better to justify the £££ uplift
  21. Forum rules, all discussion of price is by PM
  22. Vintera 70s jazz please buy it before I have to sell pets for scientific experiments https://www.mannsmusic.co.uk/b-stock/fender-vintera-70s-jazz-bass-3-colour-sunburst-pau-ferro.htm
  23. Just to make it clear for new readers I asked my colleague chaz to update his website for the benefit of hot sauce fans. It then emerged that he was a player of real basses as well as the lesser “fun sized” variety and so totally eligible to join despite his ownership of toy basses
