1. There is a bit about the prices asked for Shergold Guitars and Basses on www.shergold.co.uk
 2. I've broken the (white) pickguard on my 1974 Fender Jazz Bass just above the neck pickup. It's one clean break. I don't know whether to just have a go at repairing it myself or take it to someone who (hopefully) knows what they are doing. Any suggestions much appreciated.
 3. I've been looking for a Marathon or Modulator (both would be nice) and this one has been on ebay for some time now and is a lot more than i would want to pay.

 5. Absolutely brilliant Ted. Thanks.

 7.
I can see what you mean , but I have never heard of Jamaaladeen Tacuma using an Alembic .Anything is possible , of course , but Jamaaladeen was famous for using for the Steinberger at the time , and as far as I know he used it exclusively on that album except for one track he used a fretless on . One thing is certain however - I STILL WANT A STEINBERGER !
I first saw Jamaaladeen Tacuma when he was with Ornette Coleman's Prime Time. He played a Rickenbacker way back then and made it sound like no other Rickenbacker on earth. P.S. I think that you are right in wanting a Steinberger!
 8.
Fenders were uncool to the point of being only slightly higher in the bass pecking order than firewood in my experience of the early 80's. Its ironic today to look around and see so many young players who have the exact opposite opinion 30 yrs later.
Couldn't have put it better myself. I suppose bass guitars like most other things are either in or out of fashion. I bought a Hofner Senator Bass in 1990 for £140 and it sat in that guitar shop for months before i bought it. Look at the price of them now.
 9. Jamaaladeen Tacuma was the first person i ever saw play an XL. If the sharpest dressed bass player in town had one then that's good enough for me. Both still seriously cool after all these years.

 11.
Yeah, but old type minis is alright, for 2 reasons- They are a huge seller. They rust like f***.
Yeah, rust is not a friend of the old Mini. A friend of mine has a an original 1960s Mini Cooper. It's been re-shelled, had a new engine fitted, new wheels, new seats and the interior has been re-trimmed.............A bit like Trigger's broom
 12.
So you did a full reshell? must have been pretty badly damaged, and also been worth the cost of it. (unlike if i rolled my 106, it would just have to be scrapped).
Yes but that was 20 plus years ago! I don't think anyone would re-shell many cars nowadays if it was rolled. They are just written off now. I think the only cars that have a re-shell are classic cars. My mate still re-shells the old type Minis.
 13.
I only have two spare parts left. One is a side grill in front of the right rear wheel arch. The other (coincidentally) is a Turbo2 decal roll - purchased from Radbourne Racing (that's why you couldn't find them!) CB
Collectors items! Radbourne were the place to go for all things Renault Racing in those days. Around that time we did a lot of body work on Sierra RS Cosworths as well so i was always over various Ford RS dealers around London trying to get bits. Happy days!
 14.
Odd that it was being reshelled then, is it not?
Not at all. There must be hundreds of cars on the road that have been re-shelled that have never seen a rally stage. The company i worked for some years ago re-shelled a car that only had 40 miles on the clock after someone rolled it coming out of a car hire compound.
 15.
So use the Photobucket alternative solution described in the first post.
i've tried photobucket but it comes up with this message every time i try and upload photos in my listing 'You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community'. I use a Mac and have tried both Firefox and Safari to upload from photobucket with no success.
 16.
Radbourne Racing on the main street through Wimbledon!!! Blast from the past - that's where I used to get my spares! Not sure what you mean by the front windows having sliding inserts - mine were ordinary bronze tinted glass with manual winders! CB
As someone has mentioned the front windows has small sliding inserts like rally cars used to have although this one wasn't a rally car. I spent some time in Radbournes trying to find the 'Turbo 2' decals and the correct pinstripes. Remember pinstripes on cars? I knew a bloke who did pinstripng for living. Nothing else, just pinstripes and car decals!
 17.
Given that it had the sliding windows, and was getting reshelled, would it not be safe to assume it was actually a rally car?
No it wasn't a rally car (it didn't have a roll cage etc) but yes it did have rally car type windows.
 18.
Where did you get yours? What was the spec? Mine was an '85 sourced from Renault Munich Export Sales and bought through Renault Boutique, Champs Élysées, Paris. Did you drive yours as your everyday car or just as a weekend plaything? I used to carry my HH combo on top of the engine bay, anchored by those straps that were fitted. It meant I had very little rear viz, which in a left hooker was challenging at times :-) CB
I worked for a body repair shop and drove a few of them. I had to drive one that had just had been re-shelled across South London to Radbourne Racing in Wimbledon to match up the decals and striping. It was a boiling hot day and the Turbo 2 didn't have it's engine cowling on (as it was still being repaired) and it was so noisy and hot and it has those front windows with the sliding inserts. It got so hot that at every traffic jam i had to open the door to cool down. Great fun though! I bet that they are worth a fortune nowadays.
 19. If anyone wants me i'll be up in the loft.................now where did i put that vintage guitar.........................?
 20.
Here we go. Found it!... CB
I drove these in the late 80s. Great fun but very hot in the summer with the engine being just behind you. As the only place for a bass is next to you in the passengers seat means you're never going to forget that you've got it with you.
 21. Doesn't work for me either. So if anyone wants a 'mystery bass' or know what the one i'm selling looks like......................
 22.
If this is in good nick and what I think that it is, then I'll take it! It seems that I can't send you PMs.
No worries. Will sort that out and pm you! Still for sale.

 24.
So, it's between me, grumble, and BetaFunk at the moment... I'm not bidding. Honest. I do really like it though. "Surftastic" describes it very well.
You Sir, have superb taste! I wonder if we have the same taste in wallpaper as well
 25. I loathe Marmite but i like that Schecter. It's surftastic.
