  1. I acquired an Epi pro IV in white recently in a trade - equivalent to about £250. I’ve always loved the look but was convinced I’d scratch the itch and move it on. As @NancyJohnson said - negligible neck dive and it’s one of my lightest basses in a 20 odd bass collection. I was lucky to pick one up so cheaply. Side dots disappeared in the dark - easily fixed with some Graph-Tech dots and the only issue I have with it really is access to the dusty end when I’m standing up. Got some gigs with Verity Bromham this month and might well use her on those - don’t really stray up the dusty end in that combo!

Nothing against these per se; I played Gary's for a bit and it was fine, but always felt the geometry on the Epiphones was out compared with the original.  I know many will see this as nitpicking, but if you're going to make/reproduce/copy a faithful replica, then then should be doing that (much like they're trying to do with all the Les Pauls, Explorers, Vs and SGs).  About the only area where the body looks correct is the forearm bout.  The other three corners are skewed; the lower horn has always been short/stubby and the upper neck joint and control corner, smoothed out/rounded.

Maybe that’s why (at least in my case) the Epi’s don’t seem to be so renowned for massive neck dive? Could they have changed the geometry to improve the ergos?

No skunk stripe though, and what is the deal with the TRC?

    Chickenbacker perhaps?

Truss Rod Cover and scratch plate came from his band mate’s bass that his mate played in the band ‘Tobruk’ apparently!

  4. Played at The Craufurd Arms with Stray last night supported by Bedford’s Thr3e. Really good home crowd and good sound thanks to our recently acquired sound engineer Stuart. I took my 77 Ric into a Bugera MOSFET and Eden 4x10. I always struggle to get a decent on stage bass tone at that venue but apparently it sounded great out front (thanks James!). Cart and Horses in London to come next Saturday!

Hi, my preference is to sell this but you know how it is if something interesting comes along!! Let me know if you have something in mind though I wouldn’t be looking at 5 strings or effects thanks. Cheers

Thanks - I'll get in touch via pm in the next day or so.

  6. Played at The Black Market at Warsop last night with The Verity Bromham Band. Multi band gig with two stages, decent organisation and sound. We had a great night - what stood out for me was the supplied Megoliath 8x10 bass cab. By far the best cab I’ve ever played through! Using my Bugera MOSFET it had huge volume and depth but unlike an SVT there was real clarity. Absolutely stunning bit of kit!IMG_6102.thumb.jpeg.22eea3915eeb2793fc2f8de0b432888e.jpeg

  7. I’ve got a Flea. Really really nice indeed. Specs wise I’d go for the shallow neck radius and headstock truss access of the peach one. If I were buying again I’d probably go for the peach one but I wouldn’t swap my current Flea for one unless it was a particularly good instrument.
