Was in shop few weeks back before its official opening mainly wasting time while wife was shopping and was hugely impressed with both by the availabilty of some great gear and staff that don't try to show off their slapping skills (which i absolutely hate in bass shops) and just pleasant and helpful guys.
I was trying out a Fender precision deluxe altho wasn't buying. Still the staff were helpful wehn i told them and offered up other possible choices like Sanberg which were nice.

Yep i would have to agree this is a pleasant surprise and somewhere for me to hide on those occasional shopping day in Glasgow.

I'll have to check it out again if I'm ever in Glasgow, sounds like a good day out!

Yes!!! It confused the hell out of me on my first Jake... I thought I suddenly knew nothing, or that the bass was broken. Then I thought 'wait a minute', and noticed it.

I thought you Brits were the experts at doing things "the wrong way" ;) just because you can... but here Adrian out-britted the Brits

Update on the set-up issue! I found a couple of useful videos by Adrian M - didn't tell me anything I didn't know about how to do a set-up but underlined that it is a personal thing - you'll find the videos here if you are interested:

    https://www.youtube....h?v=qrTNzFjXMHE (Part 1) and https://www.youtube....h?v=8Dqy6SIeKAY (part 2)

Anyway, a 1/8th turn of the truss rod seemed to do nothing, then a 1/4 turn added a huge amount of relief, so I eased it back a little and left it overnight. It settled nicely with gentle relief, and I could take the saddles back down very low (Hipshot B bridge) and now have what I would consider a low action, with only the slightest buzz on the B string.

    So all looking good !
Am I right in thinking that Adrian uses a reverse trussrodd or something?

Don't forget that this bass came fro BD not direct from Adrian though - I've turned the truss rod 1/4 turn, and that has enabled the saddles to be lowered so the action is still very low, and the open string buzzing has gone! I'm now experimenting a bit with the series/single/parallel switches - has these on my Wick $$. Will plug it into my rig tomorrow evening - can't wait!

Thanks for all the comments and feedback from other Maruszczyk owners - I'm pleased to be "in the club"

Nice to have you with us!

8 weeks into my build on Friday.

    This wait isn't getting easier.

My custom Elwood was 12 weeks though I know Adrian had to wait for the white Haeussel pups on special order.

Time to get rid of some gear then!

What's the standard neck on their Cazpar basses? I think someone in here has one.

Buddy of mine was asking me about a left handed version of one.

Edit: He's emailed Adrian about a Pike.

I'm glad I've turned my buddies onto Adrian's stuff.

Seeing as we're off amps and cabs for the moment, I just realised I have owned my Boss TU-2 for at least 12 years.
It took a mighty beating over the years, while everything surrounding it got switched around and replaced.

Never gave it much thought, but I'm stumped if that isn't what you're looking for in a tuner...
I'm the same with the Korg Pitchblack. The only tuner I've ever used.

  7. Ninety quid for ANYONE is stupid money unless it's for someone like Prince (RIP) or The Stones.

Highest I've ever paid for anyone was Seventy Five for Maiden, just unfortunate about their support band.

Now has anyone seen that 2K fan package? :o

  8. Had a builder of Adrian's contact me via Facebook, looks like they might be able to offer fanned fret Jake's soon.

    Yum.

Also I'm almost at the end of week 6...

The wait for this one hasn't been that bad, but I find myself staring at leather sofas!

If there's nothing in the output of the chorus it won't work, those effects won't be in your setup.

You have ATM bass-vtdi-amp, then out of the sansamp into your effects but they dnt go to an am or di box, so will never affect the sound, put them in line before the di.

For me if you are taking the Jcm for tone I'd want it heard ie mic'd up rather than the more svt sounding di but then that's just me you could put a di box in the effects loop tho to at least get the pre amp, or grab a load box with a di radial do one of these.
Interesting, thanks for the response! The amp has no FX loop! I'll have a look at the Radial box you mentioned.

  10. Alright, so I'm having a mess about with my pedals as I want to take my JCM 800 to gigs instead of my Ashdown for a bit and I've ran into a problem.

The Marshall has no DI on the back, so I've decided to use my Sansamp for the DI part, now here's my set up so far.

    Bass-> Korg Pitchblack-> Sansamp VT-> MXR Phase 90 -> Corona Mini

That's all well and good, but I'm using the Parallel output on my Sansamp to plug it into my amp and my FX's will be going into the chain after the Sansamp.

Will they A) Go through the PA rather than my amplifier (I'm assuming yes)

and B) the output on the Corona has nothing to connect to, as I'm not sure I'll ever need a quarter inch for that, however I still have a cable going into it. Will that mean the pedal will still work?

I have just got this 32" scale Jake & it is fantastic! Well balanced, comfortable. I have put tapewounds on & it sounds beautiful!
Never heard of Tapewounds before, how are they?

I love my Maruszcyzck Jake P5+. The B String is great, it just feels and sounds like all the other strings. It has a P type and a humbucker in the bridge, and I had them put a pan pot in rather than individual volume controls. Between that and a really effective tone control I find it just as flexible for my purposes as my actives.
I'm that predictable that this is what I was going to recommend.

  13. That's weird, I was thinking about changing up my rig to do this.

What's the experience with this like?

Was looking at getting the new Geddy Lee Preamp. The word suggests it's based on the RBI, if that's the case, does anyone know of any recommended power amps for it?

I'm really new to this, is there a chance that things just won't be compatible with each other? (So in PC terms, certain parts need the right chipsets on other parts to work together, is this the case here?)

If I were The Boss, I'd ban everybody here from mentioning Sire.
Ever since I found they're coming up with a Precision type instrument, I'm salivating excessively. A Precision type, in 5 string, active... aaaargh!!! take my money already!!!

So, shut up already about some of the best value for money basses out there ;)

    I'm in the same boat!

Me too haha! That's is one stunning J bass, lovely :)
I want to see what my 32 scale Mensinger is like before I take the plunge on this one though.

Might have to sell the Harris to afford it...
