Any idea what the current waiting time is?
Mines currently at about 13 weeks, but I'm aware that this is unusual for Adrian.

Wood In Black got his at 7 but was quoted 12. So that can happen.

Ask them if they still want it and tell them you've got others waiting as well. At least, if they're strugglign to afford it, there's an opt-out option and you'll be able to shift said bass quick enough. It's a win-win situation for all parties involved.

Just done this, I'll keep you all updated.

It is a bit on the "pink" side... I'd prefer something more like the "purple flake" Modulus, but without the flake. G&L do a lovely purple as an option...

    That is also very lovely!

Personally, the only person I'd be dropping it at would be the buyer. Not a third party, and I'd want cash there and then.

Yeah, I mean that was my concern too, but if they can pay by Paypal/Bank Transfer it's less of a worry for me.

  5. I'm selling a bass on one of these private selling group things and I've had tons of interest, one of which from someone is for a kid who's fifteen and it would be their Christmas present. We've semi-arranged to drop the bass off at his sisters, which is insanely close to where I live, I had to leave for a rehearsal last night and I posted "if you've got any more questions, feel free to message and I'll reply when I get back"

As of now I've heard nothing back from them, but I have at least three people who are local wanting to come round and see it.

    What should I do here?

I hadn't quite got as far as exact details, but the main one would be colour: purple with matching headstock! Passive, maple board with pearl blocks, probably his own pickups (as I've heard very good reports about them) or EMGs... I'm still pondering! :gas:

Oh, and four string. B) A bit like this one.....

That is a gorgeous colour, my band would hate it if I played one like that though :D

Do any controls affect the volume or tone of the noise? Is the noise present on the effects send, or just on the speaker output? Working that out will help you to pin it down to one part of the circuit.
Doesn't make a different, noise is still there and my cat hates it.

Gonna take it to a tech I think.

I'd try contact cleaner in the valve sockets first.

Switch off amp and let the valves cool down; remove valve; spray cleaner (NOT WD40); replace valve with a slight circular wiggle motion to scrape the contacts together.

Then, if this doesn't work, try swapping the pre-amp valves (the small ones) around and see if that makes a difference. If it does, you'll need to swap out a pre-amp valve.

If any this makes no difference... take it to a tech.

Yeah, had a suspicion it was a preamp tube.

I'll try this, if it fails I'll take it to Stoneham again.

    Needs a service anyway!

  9. So, I've got a Ashdown CTM100 valve head here and all of a sudden it starts making crackling noises and then squealing.

The VU meter is going nuts and has it's little pointer up about half way.

Could this be a Power Tube that's gone? I have a new set of tubes here, but I don't want to put them in if I'm just going to find that they blow straight after I've biased them.

I seem to remember that the speaker gurus at Trace lived the "sound" of MDF over ply. Maybe that preference transferred to Ashdown?
Interesting, any reason for why they'd use MDF over Plywood? From my guitar days, I got the impression that MDF wasn't as good of a wood and muddied the sound somewhat.
