2.
Excellent! I'll get my order in today then! What colours are available?
I have red, purple and green boxes here ready to be drilled. Can order yellow or blue if you prefer?
  3.
A-ha! Just the man! I love the VT1-EQ-Drive and I'm very keen on the look of the Di-Std for the same quality in a smaller unit. What is the approximate waiting time for delivery at the moment?
I have most of the bits in stock and boards made up and some boxes ready to drill so 1-2 weeks.
  4.
Not that I know of, the DHA will be the kind of size you can expect if you want an actual tube. The Catalinbread SFT is also based on SVT sounds. Si
my new "smaller" range was designed to get the size down but still keep the same circuit design and tone. Dave
  5.
I know there's a known issue with switch mode supplies and Dave's pedals, in that they need to be plugged in to the effect before the power supply is switched on (IIRC). I'm not sure if that is a quirk of DHA's designs or whether it applies to other pedals as well. I seem to remember Dave saying it was a high pitched whistle, and could be cured by taking the above mentioned steps. I always use an old style transformer with my VT bass, so it's not a problem I've actually had to deal with.
some Switchmode PSU's need a load at switch on or they can run at the wrong frequency which is why you can hear it.
  6.
12v - I would keep it if it ran on 9v, but it doesn't fit in with my space saving/cash saving plans. The T-REX Fuel tank has 12v outs so I have been using that, but, I don't have the original PUS any more. Dont think they are loads to buy? Topo Morto - am going to msg you with paypal details later; cant get onto the messenger at work because of filtering!
It will run on 9V but with reduced output level but just turn the volume up

  8. "Dave ... stop wasting all this time posting on forums !!! and get on with making my VT2 !!!!!! (only joking, of course, it's great that you are an active member here)" good point, well made! I have added a link of the YouTube demo on the website, many thanks again Dave
  9.
Well, I was basically wondering how it worked as a "clean" preamp. I don't tend to use distorted sounds very much you see. I'm beginning to think this isn't the pedal for me after all, if thats as clean as it gets...hmm.
its not intended to be a hifi clean, more to add valve warmth from "valve clean" to crunch tones. I do non valve, clean pre-amps as well which have the same EQ and Di sections. Dave
  10.
I am really impressed with this new pedal (bought from this forum). Still working out how to get the very best from it but here's a, decent sound quality, demo for you all.
many thanks, love it will add a link on the website tomorrow
  11.
Wow, nice to hear from the very manufacturer! Thank you for the offer! Listening again to more clips, and reading a bit more... the VT1 was getting ahead of the race, and you just made it getting a little bit farther I use the T-Rex Fuel Tank Jr unit (two of them), each with 5 individual isolated 9V outs. I just checked the specs, and each one is rated up to 120mA, lower than the 150mA you quoted. So this does not look promising. Hmmm, it seems to me that if I want to use this pedal, I should buy it as it is (without changing the polarity of the connector) and use the power supply provided. And if I buy it with the polarity reversed, and my T-Rex is not a suitable power supply, then I cannot use the provided power supply unless I re-reverse the polarity... It seems like a lot of uncertainties, and best to stick to the pedal as it is with its own power supply. I'll order one already. My band (Sea Bass Kid) is going to start recording next weekend and I'd love to be able to use the VT-1 then.
thanks for the order, but I only build to order so it will not be ready by next weekend, sorry. Dave
  12.
Anyone know if a Jonnyshredfreak supply will cope with the following pedals:- Boss TU2 > BYOC optical compressor > DHA VT1 > DHA DI/EQ The last 2 with the reverse polarity adaptors? Or is mixing 2 different polarity pedals a bad idea?
They are not different polarity as they are both negative ground like most pedals but the connector on the VT1 is center positive unlike boss type pedals. you can't run different polarity pedals on the same supply as it will short out when you plug in, this is not the case with my two pedals you speak of above. My Fuzzy Feeling is a different matter as it positive ground due to the PNP transistors.
  13.
I use two T-Rex Fuel Tank Junior units with multiple isolated 9V outs, so I would use one for the DHA alone. No live at all? Hmmm. That's worrying despite previous comments. I assume you remembered to reverse the polarity? The DHA will not do anything at all if the polarity is wrong.
I am happy to fit a different 2.1mm connector with neg center if you want at same price? The thing to note is that it is a valve pedal and hence requires higher current than a lot of small 9V power supplies will provide. Poor regulation will result in hum so a good 9V of at least 150mA plus what your other pedals need will be required. There is a drop in output level at 9v, but its not that much. Dave

    DHA DI-EQ
the bits have arrived so I will try it tomorrow.
I have a phantom power solution for the DHA-DI and the DHA-DI-EQ. Was not quite as simple as I had hoped as there is a current limit on phantom power outputs which the DI-EQ was over. So I had to modify the circuit to draw less current which includes switching the power on led off when phanton power is selected as it just draws to much. I will be fitting this as an option from now on and hence increasing the price of these versions by £15. I can mod existing pedals at £15 plus return postage which will be £4.25 for the UK.

    DHA DI-EQ
I bought a DHA DI-EQ pedal from a fellow BCer and I absolutely love it. I've tried all sorts of different pre's / DI boxes (Ampeg, Trace Elliot, MXR, EHX, Sansamp) and this is fast eclipsing the lot. The balanced DI out is super-clean, switchable between ground, lift and float, and the EQ is really musical. Even though it's solid state it has a real warmth to it, and can do pretty much any clean tone you could imagine - everything from bright, blistering slap to old school thump and thud. My best purchase all year (and there've been a few...). It's small enough to fit in a gig bag and can be powered by a 9v battery as well as a standard 9v Boss style adaptor, so it's ideal for jam nights / acoustic performances. I've even used it to play for a couple of shows and just gone straight into the PA and have always had a great tone. Like all DHA products it's built like a tank, but much easier to operate. For £70 new it's a real no-brainer - I'll probably never go to a gig without it again.
Thanks for this. I have had a few requests to add phantom power to the Di's and Eq's so I looked into it and I am testing a solution this week. If it works and all looks good so far, then I will add this to the design with a small additional cost to cover the extra labour and parts. They will still have the battery or power supply operation but there will be an additional switch to select phantom power. I will offer an upgrade path for anyone with an existing Di or Eq as well, should be around £15 plus return postage, or maybe even a kit for those who can drill and solder. it won't work with the valve range of pedals with Di's as most desks won't have the current required on their phantom power output to run the valves.
