1.
These look very interesting! When is the pre-order discount offer running to? Getting married tomorrow......and as you can imagine, bank account has taken a hit :-P Cheers Si
Hi Si runs out when 10 are sold. Good luck and have great day Dave
 2.
Cheers Dave. All sounds really good. Will this be coming out as the VT1-EQ-Di-Bass Mk3 version? Please put me down for a pre-order then for £135 plus P&P. And if that is one of your first pre-orders and I manage to blag the #003 pedal then all the better - I assume that you and Left foot will be getting the #001 and #002 units for yourself?!
Will be called the VT1-Pro-Bass-Drive
 3.
Cheers Dave. All sounds really good.
thanks The serial numbers will carry on from the current sales list so will be 1xxx - but I could write something on the back about being 3 of 10. can you please paypal the money to [email protected] - will be £135 + £6.90 = £141.90. Getting a lot of interest so looking to press the button on the silk screening in the next week of so. regards Dave
 4.
Thanks Dave. The pedal sounds great and the prospect of having a 12AX7 in a preamp to provide valve warmth and drive (together with the benefits of a DI and headphones out) makes this a very enticing offering. It's a single rather than two 12AX7s, right i.e. when you say "2 stage" that doesn't mean TWO 12 AX7s?
A 12AX7 has two stages in it. The signal path is In> i/p pad>valve stage 1> Gain Pot> Valve stage 2> EQ> Level Pot> OUT The boost is switchable after the EQ but before the Level. The Di is taken from the output.
 5.
That sounds really good re the pedal hum. Sorry I was trying to find out what the price is with / without the 20% discount? Apologies if you have already mentioned that earlier in the thread.
looks like I made a mistake earlier and only offered 10% discount instead of 20%!!! List price will be £169.99 + P&P so 20% discount means £135 + P&P
 6.
Cheers Dave - two follow up Qs from me: 1. A lot of gain / dirt pedals have an inherent (sometimes pronounced) pedal hum, which can be off-putting and can require a noise gate to sort. How silent does your pedal run when bass and amp are connected up and the drive/gain engaged? 2. What is the 20% discounted price (+P&P) for pre-orders? Look forward to the YouTube video - that will certainly help me in making my mind up!
I run everything with DC including the valve heaters so they are very low noise. The only place hum can come from with my design is the power supply so that's why I supply a very well regulated one. Yes the discount is for pre-orders only to help with set up costs.
 7.
Dave - is there a spec sheet plus YouTube post of what the new pedal does / sounds like when being used? That would be really useful for folk, like me, who are not already familiar with your gear and what the new pedal is capable of.
Hi The spec is the same as the VT1-EQ-Di-Bass Mk2. Its a new layout, guard around the valve and the silkscreen that has changed. so.... 1/4" jacks in and out with true by-pass Balanced XLR out with 3 position ground lift - Ground, Float and Ploat Stereo headphone out with mixed Stereo Aux in 2 stage 12AX7 valve design for valve warmth and drive - user can swap valve types for different tones Bright switch Colour switch and pot - adds negative feedback which adds compression and distortion Boost switch and pot - clean amplification of the signal. +- 15dB cut/boost EQ with Treble, Mid and Bass controls Q pot - adjusts the centre frequency of the Mid control Input Pad Gain and Level controls 9-12VDC @ 300mA centre negative power connector. 12VDC international power supply supplied Blue back-light power on indicator Blue LED effect on indicator via Foot switch Small foot-print - 145x130x60mm YouTube video is a good idea I will be offering this pedal via shops and distributors but if purchased direct from me then as with all my pedals I offer money back if the customer is not happy once returned.
 8.
Thanks, I've got a standard DHA DI-EQ and it'd be perfect for me it had headphone out as I'm running it into an EHX headphone amp at the moment and the extra cables are a hassle. I'll keep an eye out for when the new model is out.
The new pedal will be out in the next few weeks but I am offering a 20% discount to BC members that pre-order. Its to help pay towards the silk-screen set up costs and to get 10+ boxes done in one go.
 9.
Do these have headphone outs? I'm looking for a 1 box gigging solution but there's oddly few pedals like this with a 'phone out.
Yes, same spec as the VT1-Di-eq so headphone out and aux in.
 10. Won't stop doing them as well
 11.
I guess the key here is to avoid having two Left feet? But as long as the right foot is working hand in glove (or should that be foot in sock?) with Left foot then all will be well...
12.
That actually looks really good! Well done guys.
Left foot has done all the hard work
 13.
Thank you, that one is much easier to see, the others were a bit wee even when clicked on.
Rob is working some better images with the correct colours. We are looking at getting a few boxes silk-screened very soon so if anyone likes or dislikes the new style then please let us know.
 14.
Could we see a bigger picture of the graphics please, hard to tell anything from the small one posted
fair point! If you click on the pic's they get bigger
 15. With the help of a BC member the artwork is now ready for silk screening of the new VT1-Pro-Bass-Drive. Just deciding on the colours, I am thinking purple with yellow writing and knobs, open to comments. As a way of saying thank you for your help and support I will offer a 20% discount on the first 10 BC members that pre-order. So that will be £154 + P&P including Power Supply. I am hoping to offer this new style of pedal to a wider audience and will be bring out different models to hopefully suit different requirements and budgets. So I am looking for interested shops, distributors, etc both in the UK and overseas.
 16. Okay, new improved layout for the VT1-EQ-DI-Bass MK2 is here. I have moved things around a bit and have managed to get all the switches on the top. working on a guard over the valve and the silkscreen. All pedals from now on will have the switches on the top.
 17.
Cheers. When you say invest in getting one, I assume you're meaning the the DHA rather than the Tech 21? In terms of power supply I've got two spare 12V 300mA outputs on my Ciocks DC8, which suggests that if I run them in parallel to provide a 12V 600mA power feed, they have the DHA's name on it. Not least given that all my other pedals are 9V so these two 12V outputs are currently being unused. (I see from his website that there is suitable power supply adaptor available for those that don't). Just need to find out when his new range is coming out now then...although might be good to have all the switches on the VT1 on the top rather than a couple at the side - let's see if we can persuade him on that front too!
Been working on the new range since the useful suggestions and will do the VT1-EQ-Di-Bass first. I have ordered some smaller latching push buttons to replace the normal toggle types used now. I hope to fit all of these on the top if the space permits but if one or two have to go on the side then they are much less likely to be damaged. Working on a new silkscreen artwork as well with help from a BC member. The valve sticking out the top is harder to fix with the current design of PCBs. The hole is there so it is possible to swap the valve without having to remove the PCB so I want to keep it but looking at a guard to stop damage. Prototypes should be complete very soon. Dave
 18.
That sounds good!! And still fit comfortably on a pedal board as a single compact (ish) pedal?
I am thinking it would be at the back of the pedal board, maybe the length of a small board. There are units like this out there as well as power bricks but non with power amps I know of.
 19.
It's the convenience of everything in one bag and all powered off a good isolated power brick for people on multiple jobs or quick changeovers. It's also a space saver for storage issues, I have to hide my gear from the Mrs as I suspect we all do! Or like I said and all in one. People with way more gigging experience than me will hopefully chime in.
you can get the Hypex modules in a plate format which are fitted to cabs so making an active speaker. Adds no more size to the cab and gets rid of the speaker cable issue. They have Di input so can drive them from the pedal board.
 20. what if it was a pedal board power supply (power your pedals), a few foot-switch operated Fx loops with blenders, tuner mute, Di out, headphone amp, aux in and a power amp? That way I could work with the pedal board makers and make a bigger box as it would be doing other things as well.
 21.
Good speaker cables are a given in my book But thinking about the chain, person to board to amp to speaker. it's well and good to have a power amp on the board, but if your speaker is far away you will need a long Speakon cable. These are way more inflexible that a 1/4 instrument jack hence tripping issues, a 1/4 amp jack is better for flexibility, but I prefer speakon for amp to cab. This means then whatever the power amp will still be on the cab. Now with a small enough real estate you could have the wireless, pre-amp and DHA power amp all on top the cab if you were a set and go person. Or you could have the DHA power, with a VT1 EQ on the floor, board or not through to a cab/FOH PA and that's all you need so it's your silent practice rig and performing rig There are loads of opportunities here.
I tend to agree, why would anyone want a high power amp on their pedal board?
 22.
I remember reading about that on TB amongst other places. It says 600w @4ohms but I don't know if that's peak power or continuous and how long it lasts. From what I rememeber you needed a decent pre-amp or it would not drive it at all. Most people had it on their amp and it pedal board as if you think about it if you have a speakon connector either this is long, or a Jack cable is long from guitar stuff to the amp, although technically I suppose you could go wireles.... Pre-amp of some sort maybe necessary, but the killer for me will be capabilities of using it as a practice amp also with aux input and headphone output which DOES set it apart from demeter, Minnie etc
yes you will need good speaker cables, as the wattage goes up so does the current and we are talking Amps here
 23.
So 200W in 1800cc and 500W in 2200cc? My sense is that you would need to be much more compact than that to be a "head turner". The Demeter Minnie 800D is already providing 800W in 2000cc so, as you say, you would be going head to head with some very nice mini high power amps rather than going for an altogether new and untapped market segment that something in the Quilter 45 size represents. I suspect Quilter will get a 200W micro pedal not much larger than their Q45 out within the next couple of years, microchips are becoming more heat efficient all the time.
nothing to do with micro chips, watts is watts and unless they use super-conductors and run at absolute zero then the heat has to go somewhere.
 24. I remembered that I made a 700W PA amp out of Hypex modules in a 2U rack with Di in. Found it yesterday, anyone want it as a bass amp if throw in a VT1-EQ-Di-Bass to drive it? Also have some 400W modules I could get going again if anyone interested? They both have linear power supplies and transformers so large boxes required. But I could buy the new switch mode power supply versions and put in a smaller box.
 25.
I'm not sure about this. The Demeter Minnie 800D is way too big for a pedal board. It's nearly 2000 cc in size. What pedal board sized hypex power amps are out there? I can't think of any with sufficient heft for the typical bass player. EQ would be nice to have, but EQ and / or valve pre-amp can be sold separately and there are already plenty of options available in terms of quality preamp pedals. The market is not crying out for yet another pre-amp pedal. As Cuzzie notes "a small power bundle similar to the Quilter Micro45 or as close as can be is a definite pick and go option". I agree, and IMHO this is where the gap in the market exits for Quilter or a-n-other fleet of foot pedal maker to fill. The Quilter 45 is offering (only) 45 W in something around 250 cc in size and getting a LOT of enthusiastic take up across the pond: https://www.thegearp...ock-45.1786272/ 45W is fine for guitarists but not sufficient for bassists, right? For bassists: 200W clean power amp in a box no larger than 600 cc (or as close to as poss) would be a great product, sit nicely on a pedal board, and potentially revolutionise how bass players view amp heads. Is it do-able?
okay 250W in a box with Di and 1/4" in (requires pre-amp) and volume control - should go in a box around 200x150x60 500W - 200x180x60 but as I say there are lots of very nice mini high power amps already out there.
