  1. I think it became too much of a 'let's get that clanky darkglass distorted tone' on the bass on a lot of metal/heavier music.

I still prefer the Tech 21 pedals.

  2. Probably the most dull NAMM!

I doubt it will exist how it does in the next 3-4 years. There is just no need for all that expense now.

The videos I've seen seem to show it is quiet with mostly Youtube influencers gathering to try get content.

They may as well bin it off.

  3. I've said this elsewhere....

The UK in particular is reaching insanity with it's pricing.

Import Sterlings are now reaching £1500!

It is worth considering that only 8  ish years ago you could get a USA Musicman Bongo HH for £1400-1500, a Stingray H for £1200-1400 and a Classic Stingray H for £1500.

At some point surely people just WILL NOT be able buy.

Fender and Gibson are doing the same.

He wrote about "lack of knowledge" because many bass players boost gain and left volume on very low levels. You can't get sound with tube amp set like that and you always get "farting" instead a good overdrive. With tube amp your gain is your volume knob and volume knob is your "overdrive level" if that make sense.

I was looking at these amps and they certainly look very interesting.

However, I think it is acceptable for customers to discuss their amps 'issues' over a forum and this should not cause issue with a manufacturer. If this forum/discussion didn't exist, think of all the amps that would not have been purchased.

In addition, sorry but the below is wrong with the all tube amps I have tried.

"With tube amp your gain is your volume knob and volume knob is your "overdrive level" if that make sense.  "

I used to own an Orange AD200 and cranking the gain but lowering the overall volume produced an absolutely fantastic overdriven tone.

Import duties, raw material costs, wage increases, transport costs, lower production volumes…

Anyone involved in selling stuff can tell you how costs have increased across the board.

Moaning about how much a Fender costs is the same as my dad complaining that a Mars bar cost 9p in 1965.

    So what?

Given Fender has laid off 300 people they’re hardly making a mint from building basses and guitars.

I agree that the prices are now FAR too high for an American Pro (is it II now?)

    Fender got greedy. Simple as.

The lull in the market is coming so I hope they have all prepared for it!

  7. One of my close friends decided to go modern/fairly lightweight and was very interested in a modern Mesa bass amp.

Sadly they haven't been available here so he went with Darkglass.

I still would like to try a new Mesa.

  8. Always a Stingray. If I had a choice to spec one, I'd go for sparkly sherwood green, dark dark dark rosewood board, tort binding, tort guard, probably a HH or HS, with a totally passive option and normal 3EQ option.

4 and 5 string version. The 5 with a birdseye maple neck and fretboard.

After that, 4 string P bass, sunburst, tort, rosewood. Done.
