I always like The Screaming Blue Messiahs apart from the not very good novelty record that was their only chart hit, "I Wanna Be a Flintstone". They had far better tunes like this one, "Sweet Water Pools". Bill Carter was a brilliant guitarist, loved the noises he got out of his axe. I know I've gone off piste slightly but never mind.
I'm a world of wrong according to some. Play the bass upside down and with a pick too. Done it for over 30 years and I've managed just fine. Different courses for different horses.
Last gig with 6th Sense after six years at Rushden Athletic Club on Saturday night. We're knocking it on the head for various reasons and it was a damn fine show to end on. That'll probably be it for me now unless or until something falls into my lap that I find compatible with today's hectic work/life balance. Approaching fifty with a football team's worth of grandkids too! In the meantime, my musical itch will be scratched by Basschat's monthly Composition Challenge. That's no bad thing.
Congrats sir, another top tune. Does seem a shame that we can't get a few more to join in the fun. Very difficult to find the time, I guess. Modern life is too hectic!
Better late than never (probably)......
Electric saz, violin bass, keys, looper drum samples and somewhat rushed guest vocals by Buster "Composting" Austin and Elvis P.
Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division. Massively overrated, not half as good as some of their output.
Highway To Hell - AC/DC. I play in a covers band and this lot get called for all the time, drives me mad as I can't stand them and have to play this dirge.
Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams. Bloke in my local puts this on the jukebox every time he's in there without fail. I will eventually take an axe to either the jukebox or him. Or both.
Last Friday at Fuelers Bar at Santa Pod Raceway for the European Finals. Fantastic night yet bittersweet as it was the last time that we'll play there. Great crowd as always. Only one more gig for us now before we call it a day.
Playing here tonight (6th), last but one gig before we knock it on the head. Played at Pod many times and it's always a cracking atmosphere, will certainly miss it.
