  1. Fair point. You've convinced me to stick with my farting orangutan of a voice 😄
  2. Here's my entry for this month. I've gone down the 'David v Goliath' route where the little guy stands up for himself. It's all recorded as usual with Wavepad and Audacity, drums programmed using Hydrogen and the instruments used include a Yamaha keyboard utilising the Japanese Koto sound effect, a Westfield violin bass, an Epiphone guitar for rhythm and the lead played using my recently built 4 string cigar box guitar with a bit of flange and delay. Once again I had my usual turd-polishing saga with my vocal line (and some may say with the words, too). I really must ask my old singer to warble over the top of one of these instead.
  3. Blue Moon Revisited (Song For Elvis) - Cowboy Junkies
  4. 'Satellite' is definitely by the Sex Pistols. 'You're looking like a big, fat, pink baked bean' is pure Lydon.
  5. Brexit! IBTL
  6. Moving on from the funk-fest that is Throbbing Gristle (Get on down to 'Beachy Head'!) here's some rather more standard pieces from the genre. Yum Yum (Gimme Some) - Fatback Band Fever In the Funkhouse - General Crook Love Rollercoaster - Ohio Players Play these in the set with the three I had in an earlier post and you've got yourself one alternative rocking, groovy gig 🕺💃
  7. My Name Is Not Susan - Whitney Houston
  8. Put your feet up and enjoy listening to the John McLaughlin Trio, you've earned it
  9. Feet Don't Fail Me Now - Foxes
  10. It's still sore, couldn't play for a fortnight 😄 Should have a generic pop song to post tomorrow evening 👍
  11. I reckon it's inevitable as we get older that we find less and less in the three minute pop song to excite us because, as the cliche goes, we've heard it all before. There'll be the odd one or two that hark back to a personal favourite or we find toe-tappingly irresistible but despite the various pop genres involved it can get predictably formulaic.
  12. Metal Postcard (Mittageisen) - Siouxsie and the Banshees
  13. Yes! We Have No Bananas - Louis Prima
  14. I'm with @Nail Soup on this one, I could only dream of getting anyone to try these. And I've tried, oh, how I tried. Holiday in Cambodia - Dead Kennedys Bikini Girls With Machine Guns - The Cramps Poptones - Public Image Ltd Let's (alternative) rock! Now, I just need some gigs! Oh, and a willing band. Hmmm.
  15. Superfly Guy - S'Express
  16. Beat Down Babylon - Junior Byles
  17. Hanging On the Telephone? Just use Zoom, Debbie!
  18. Big Girls Don't Cry - Frankie Valli
  19. Too late! Erm..... Boney Maroney - Sha Na Na
  20. 96 Tears - Question Mark and The Mysterians
  21. I'd Rather Jack - The Reynolds Girls
  22. Oh Bondage! Up Yours! - X-Ray Spex
  23. To a reasonably competent pub gig level I'd say bass and rhythm guitar, could also probably get away with a short set of saz and ukulele tunes, too. Got around thirty instruments like bouzouki, cifteli, oud and setar but there's no way I'd claim to have any grasp of the skill needed to say I was a player of them. They're simply there for me to dabble with and enjoy and explore the different styles, modes and tones of music from around the globe.
