Anyone heard of a bass player called Nigel Clutterbuck?
blamelouis replied to Thunderthumbs's topic in General Discussion
As a bass player i really enjoyed watching someone who can PLAY ! He didn't post the video and say LOOK at me ! It's great to see someone enjoying playing bass, give the guy a break it's not xfactor ! -
About 120 in a covers band every friday and saturday and the odd midweek date.

Put on the radio and play along with everything , it'll get you used to chord progresions and playing in time ,plus loads of different styles of music. Learn a bit of theory scales and modes. And then you'll start to realise how many songs are alike, and your ear will be very well developed and then put out an advert for a band!!!! And then stand back and AGOG at how many bad drummers and awful guitarists there are!

Bass Instruction Book Suggestions
blamelouis replied to Bass_In_Yer_Face's topic in General Discussion
Jimmy haslips book on scales and modes is great, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Melodic-Bass-Libra...180&sr=8-10 Also Gary Willis and his book on fingerboard harmony is also superb shows you how to play basslines in one position without shifting by harmonically openung up the fingerboard, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fingerboard-Harmon...4276&sr=1-1 And theres a great exercise book called fitness for bass which will KILL your left hand but five fret stretches will become second nature ! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bass-Fitness-Exerc...484&sr=1-16 Well these three books have kept me going for the last two years Lol ! -
I'm considering paying a visit to the Bass Gallery at some point soon and potentially spending big bucks for a new rig (head and cab). Those of you who have shopped there, are you likely to get a good deal when spending well over a grand there? Is there any chance of finding a price i'd be content with, if you know what i mean. Their prices don't look great, to be honest. It would be cheaper online, however i like the personal approach. Any experience/thoughts appreciated.
It usually gets "personal " when you shop there ! LOL!

Lets just do it covertly by P.M. and then the moderators and the general users KNOW NOTHING !
I still have the rock and funk episodes of Rockschool on VHS. I'm sure I heard that Henry Thomas did a stint as Shakatak's bassist at one point, but not sure if this is correct. Rockschool also did a tour of live shows and having seen/heard Henry giving it loads on his Westone Thunder III, the decision on what bass I had to have was an easy one.
He also did a stint with paul weller just before the wildwood album.

I hate that ,arrive at a gig and see that yellow ball on the ceiling in front of the stage! One gig i did had taped all sorts of sh*t over it ,foam, newspapers, tinfoil it was the size of a 15 inch speaker ! We used to trip them all night for badness, punters used to complain to the management saying they weren't coming back! -
hahaaa, I was at a gig in preston last night. And i was just at the bar afterwards when i got lynched by rather attractive young ladies all taking pictures with me! And then they even took my bass and gear bag to the bus station for me, and only stopped when the bus driver said they either had to pay of i had to carry my own stuff (Dammit) This is the life!
Taking pictures !!!!!!!!!!!!!! DHSS i'd bet !!!
