1. Ibanez Talman shortscale. Selling as iylt just not being played around here and with a little 'un on the way I need the cash more than I need the bass!
2. C’mon folks, anyone looking for a Fender-shaped Easter treat for themselves?
3. Now listed on Facebook too - grab a unique instrument while it’s available!
4. Back from holiday bump - this is going to start getting listed elsewhere tomorrow!
5. Thanks all for the comments - sounds like there’s a couple of interested parties knocking around...go ooooonnn!!!
6. Thanks for commenting! I had no idea that wasn’t the standard bridge!
7. *Update* This has now been sold Listing here first to give people who know what this is an opportunity to see it! Anyone who knows what this bass is knows how special it is (pun not intended). Made in Japan between 1984-87 this has buckets of tone from a reversed P pickup in the neck position and a J pickup at the bridge. There’s a pickup selector switch and after that’s where the electronics get fun - I’m not going to attempt to explain it myself, so here’s a link to an image made by a Talkbass user to explain: https://goo.gl/images/Yg4bSb I bought this from Johnny Roadhouse in Manchester in July 2009 so have no idea what it’s story is before then, but this was my main bass for the next 5 years - I’m selling now because it’s hardly been used since then and deserves more than being sat in a bag in my spare room. There are quite a few dings as per the pictures, most of which were already there when I got it - I’d be lying if I said I haven’t added to them though. I’m selling with the flight case because the foam insert is shaped for a P bass and this is the last P shaped bass I own, but will sell without the case for £400. I’m open to offers and may consider a trade. I’m in Manchester and would prefer buyer to collect or to meet somewhere rather than arrange anything with a courier. Any questions, or if you want any photos from a different angle, give me a shout
8. Played to a micro-audience quite a few times, the best one though was the barmaid, promoter/owner and sound guy - on a rainy Thursday night in Accrington. No other bands on either...I guess we had one person there but she was the guitar player's girlfriend and the only reason she was there was 'cause she drove him around.
9. Just sold some machine heads to Mick, he was very helpful to an inexperienced member and confirmed he'd got them straight away so one less thing for me to worry about Would happily deal with Mick again with no worries! Nice one Tom
10.
How can you not smile at " Contrary to the stereotype - not as bad as him speak" ? Or " pouring parafin sensors" ?
My favourite has to be 'Hull shape vaguely reminiscent of LES PAUL'. The man? The guitar? Some sort of boat? But yeah, like chriswareham said, his English is still better than my Ukranian!
11. Hi all Made my first transaction yesterday with itsmedunc so now I need a feedback thread! Please add all thoughts in here Mods - if this is in the wrong format or I've made some sort of other error please let me know! Nice one Tom
12. Bought a Redsub BT5110 from Dunc, was great to meet him - he even offered me a choice of kettle leads for it Cheers Dunc
13. For me, I prefer stage left too, but that's mainly 'cause in my old band first few gigs I was stage right, but the singer/rhythm guitar was very clumsy so when it got to an instrumental bit and he got excited he'd move away from the mic and there'd be some sort collision... It carried on after I swapped sides with lead guitar, but I'd rather take a headstock to my arm than to my bass. Bruises go away, notches, scuffs and scrapes don't.
14.
So, the lack of sympathy for Mr Inglis and his views would appear to be fairly unanimous.
I'd definitely agree with that, reading his article does not paint the picture of a massively sympathetic character. He makes some good points, but he totally misses the point on the others and doesn't come across as trying to make a difference, he comes across as someone having a whinge.
15. IMO, there's just no reason that attracts people to small venues anymore, at least not from a music perspective. As has been said, 'good' (read popular) music is readily available for free in many formats and, why risk going to a venue where you might see music being performed badly, or at best that you just might not connect with, especially when you can go to a club and dance to/watch girls dance to music that you have heard before and therefore adequately performs the role you want it to. There's just no real scene for actually seeing live music, and the majority of the venues, it seems, are attended by people that are there so that they can go to work/college/wherever else the next day and tell their friends that they were in such-and-such bar, which therefore makes them cool. Whether they saw a good band, a bad band, a ventriloquist or just sat by themselves and stared at a vintage film poster all night is totally irrelevant. And this is based on having been in an originals band playing in lots of small venues around the country for the last 7 years.

Hey

Thanks all truth be told it's not like I've not been lurking around here for a while anyway!
17. It's the green 88s for me, though I'm thinking of going thicker...
Same, I never lose picks!
Neither do I mostly, though I mysteriously seem to have mislaid one for the first time ever last night! I suspect a guitar player...picks of mine have only ever gone missing when they've been through the hands of a guitarist last!
18. Hi, would you consider a trade for a Fender Power Jazz Bass Special?

Hey

Hello all! I'm a new member and thought I'd say hi before I start sticking my nose where it has no business A little bit about me - I've been playing for about 9 years and have just left a band I'd been in for just over 7 years...we were trying very hard to make it but I've come to realise that I have other goals in my life and can't do both, so something had to give. On the plus side though, I've joined a couple of hobby bands instead and I've remembered that playing music is supposed to be fun, too! Nice one Tom
