I have noticed his prices creep up and go down on certain items, the black Gibson Ripper was £2395 yesterday and £2595 today.

Thanks Paul, it came up local and was too good to resist

So I’ve been looking at vintage fender basses as I’m hankering after one and this which isn’t vintage came up and was too good to pass up. Its a 2013 Fender American Jazz Bass in beautiful nick, lovely weight and sounds brilliant. I wasn’t looking for a Jazz but oh well 😂 The serial number amused me too, it ends in 6666. Had to include it in a photo with my AV60 Precision too!

It caught me off-guard when I was there trying it and a guy messaged online offering the asking seconds before trying to negotiate. In hindsight I agree but at the time with my ADHD being the way it is I couldn’t think.

I totally agree with the sentiment, the issue is £3900 was all I had available to me at the time and couldn’t find the extra £100. Just one of those things.

Many thanks for all the advice so far 👍

A quick question in regard to pricing, what is the going rate for a 1969 Precision in sunburst, all original bar a couple of screws for the covers in very good condition? Private sale.

I really liked the neck on a 66 P bass in refin sonic blue at Andy Baxter’s, unfortunately he wouldn’t budge on price at all as he had another person online interested whilst I was there in person trying it. I wasn’t after masses off but everyone likes a deal don’t they? Maybe thats just me. Sad to say I didn’t buy it as I was about £100 off what he was asking and that was as much as I could offer. Lovely old thing though.

Hi guys, I spotted this on Bass Directs website, it’s a pretty thing but going from the description it strikes me that this bass is a bit of a basket case bitsa - https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/fender-precision-bass-1962-sherwood-green-refinish-pre-owned/ I’m in now way affiliated with them just seems a lot of money for what it is? ” 1962 Fender Precision Bass for sale, this bass plays beautifully but is made up of a few different parts. Replacement alder body, originally had a bridge pickup too (filled and refinished in Sherwood Green) 1962 Fender neck, had an ebony fretless fingerboard fitted at some point, but now wears a rosewood fingerboard, there is evidence of the fretless side dots on the neck now. Non original pots, non original pickguard.” What do you guys think?

Update: I have now got the bass how I wanted after living with it for 18 months. The Babicz bridge is gone, good design but grub screws kept working loose on the saddles so this has been changed for a fender Himass bridge. I found the stock pickup very unbalanced across the strings, the E string sounded great but the others less so and this has been changed out for a Geezer Butler EMG….what a brilliant piece of kit and I’m very happy with the bass as is now.

Hi Guys, My setup consists of a Fender vintage 2 precision bass with a Emg geezer pickup and fender high mass bridge, I use it with a sansamp bddi v2 into an Ampeg V4 head and 212av cab. I’m looking for a compressor to use just to even the notes out a smidge more and smooth things out, any suggestions? I don’t need anything too complicated. Bass overdrive wise I’d like a bit of natural sounding valve style grind rather than full on overdrive. Whats out there and any recommendations?

Hi guys, I need to get my 95 AC30 serviced and looked at, are there any recommendations for around Rutland, Peterborough, South Lincs area? It hums a bit (Floor noise) and the tremolo/vibrato channel doesn’t work properly more akin to the normal/brilliant channel side but no fx. So I think it requires a going over.

SOLD One of my guitars up for the chopping block is my 2018 Gibson Les Paul Junior Limited Edition. It’s a limited run from 2018 with the 40s style Gibson script on the front and banner logo on the rear. These were only briefly produced for over a year before the original range started in 2019 and rarely come up for sale. This is the first one I’ve seen in the flesh in the U.K. I’m not 100% sure how many of these Gibson made. It comes with a lovely tan Gibson hardcase and red plush interior in very good condition which contains a birth photo from the factory and a quality check guitar tag from Gibson. It’s in pretty good condition with the odd mark here and there, it has some lacquer checking on the front and rear of the body - something you’d pay silly amounts for if it was an aged Murphy lab model. Weight is 3.7kg/8lb 2 1/2oz This is a fantastic guitar and for me I think Gibson got the burst colour just about right. £950 Based near Stamford in Rutland. Willing to meet within reasonable distance.

Screws for fender Mexican bass scratch plate
danbanbass replied to danbanbass's topic in Repairs and Technical
Perfect, many thanks -
Where’s the best place to get 4x additional scratch plate screws from as I’ve fitted a new one which requires additional ones? What size do I need? Also what size drill bit to pilot holes in the body? it’s a for a 50s Fender vintera precision bass.
