1. I'm working through the first of the Stuart Clayton books at the minute after numerous book failures. The way it builds up is great and it really seems to be going in. Obviously a tutor is the way to go if you can, but I'm happy with my progress so far.
2. Slayer had just released Reign in Blood, and I could listen to nothing else. Even looking back now, it redefined a genre.
3. I've never had an issue with my DR's, but that's probably down to liberal application of Fastfret. That works fine, but some don't get on with it.
4. Never heard of them before now, but at those prices I think I'll give them a try!
5. Ah sorry. I've seen nothing on the Leaf, it's a bit of a looker though!
6. Aero71 was selling a Jazzus recently, and I'm pretty sure you'll fid a demo video in the thread if you dig it up.
7.
I would love a simple passive Fiesta Red precision, normal scale, warm vintage pickup capable of growl if used with a plectrum, passive, rosewood board...I'm sure that can't be too expensive a build? Not now...maybe early next year.
I'd get on with it if you can. The Jake 5 I ordered two weeks ago cost me the better part of £100 more than when I specced it out before the referendum, and it'd be 6 quid more than that today. Also the build time has gone up from 10 to 12 weeks (which I'm sure I can't logically blame Brexiters for, but I will anyway).
8. It looks beautiful here, but I don't think that sofa shot quite does the paint justice... it looks even better in the flesh. I was lucky enough to have a little noodle on this at the Herts Bass and it's a beautiful thing to play... to the extent that I've now got one on order. It's a bloody bargain at that price!
9. Nice! In my experience, when Harry says excellent condition, that's exactly what he means!
10. Can the fretboard ding be felt while playing... while sliding etc?
11. There's nothing on that list Id particularly fancy playing, but it would depend on the band and their approach. Donkeys years ago I was offered a decent paying job on the recommendation of a drummer I'd worked with previously. It was a 70s show, glam stuff, ABBA etc, which wasn't really my kind of thing but I needed the money and had always enjoyed playing with the drummer so I went for it. I turned up to the one and only practice scheduled before a 2 week stint in Germany with only one night off, and it was a blast. The drummer and guitard were brilliant, the whole attitude very tongue in cheek, and the singer (and band leader) didn't give a toss what we did as long as it was solid underneath where he was singing. With very well known songs you can take huge liberties musically as long as the core melody and feel is firmly recognisable to the punter, and man did we take liberties! It turned out not only to be a nice little earner, but pretty fulfilling musically too. I'd check it out and see how the setup is personally.
12. Has anyone seen the 'White Rabbit' finish in the flesh? I need a backup for my L5, and I'm seriously considering a stock one. They look lovely in the pics.
13. As above... just set up your patch of 3 effects for the song (or entire set if you're lazy like me), click into the patch and use it as you would 3 individual stomp boxes.
14. Hi Alan. My apologies but it was collected last night, I meant to update the ad this morning but with packing to go away I didn't get around to it. I'm on a ferry at the moment with patchy signal, but I'll update as soon as I can. Sorry about that.
15. Nice! They're a funny looking thing, but I've always found them strangely appealing. What's the balance like on a strap with the short top horn please?
16. Thanks Richard. You're not the only one who suffers, I've only ever had 5 strings since the early 90s, and yet I weirdly still get pretty bad 4 string GAS, knowing full well it's not a good idea... This place doesn't help! As for the Corvette, I love the sound and the feel of it, but with my fat hands I always end up playing one of my 19mms, 16.5 is just a touch too tight for my clumsy attempts!
