  1. Totally agree with this. It wasn’t a criticism. I would also say most really driven people from CEO’s to endurance athletes and mountaineers can be pretty difficult people to live with and don’t always come across well.
  2. Diamond dogs - Bowie
  3. I don’t know how old the ad is. Bloke maybe a tool, maybe desperate, maybe keen. I don’t know I’ve never met him. Just giving him the benefit of the doubt.
  4. That wisdom probably comes with being 53. I can’t think of a singer-guitarist that isn’t a bit of a narcissist though.
  5. Maybe a knob. Maybe someone in their late 20’s bored at work and feeling like the chance is slipping away from him. Most people tend to coast through life. Nothing wrong with that if you’re basically content with your lot but if you feel you have the energy to do better it’s a shame not to try. Edit: I read a fair few music autobiographies and pretty much all of them would have been unbearable bell ends in their youth!

  18. Personally RHCP are two different bands. The ultimate live band with massive energy and originality that could barely write a memorable tune. Then with Frusciante really well crafted memorable songs. I wouldn’t listen to any of the pre BSSM albums bar a couple of tunes off mother’s milk but give me a time-machine and I would try and make every live show from this period. One Hot Minute was largely disappointing then everything up to SA were really well written, memorable songs though I would no longer be that interested in seeing them live for this entire period. I haven’t really listened to anything since SA which I thought was 50% filler so can’t comment on their recent output.
