Up for sale is my Vintage Sunburst

Ray 35H with Sterling deluxe gig bag. This is not getting playtime over my natural H so looking to change things up a bit. Owned by me from new and is one of the newer models with the roasted neck and Stingray 5 logo on headstock. Sweet bass, plays and sounds great. Beautiful dark roasted neck, I think the sunburst is over a mahogany body. The weight is 4kg which is a bonus!

Everything structural,mechanical and electrical is in excellent condition and works as it should.

There is a scratch running from the truss rod access across the pickguard and onto the treble side horn from when I first got the bass in August 2022. The truss rod felt like it was stuck on. I stupidly forced the issue with the result that the truss rod now turns fine, but I marked the bass. The scratch can only really be seen when you turn it in the light and not from more than a few feet away. It is a fine scratch and may be able to be buffed out but I don't have the know how. Silly thing to do with a brand new bass but you live and learn. 

The pickguard alao has very light scratching on it.

I've looked online and these currently retail new for £1200 - £1300, cheapest 

being Thomann at £1219

Audition and collection preferred in Market Drayton, Shropshire. Could possibly meet Stoke,Crewe,

Shrewsbury,Telford etc

Selling as dont see me switching away from my single H. One of the newer models with roasted neck and Stingray 5 logo on headstock. Lovely bass, plays great and sounds huge! (Incidentally something I found out was that this bass will still sound if the battery dies)

Everything is in excellent condition and works as it should. The pickguard has light scratching on it and there is a small nick on the side (pictured)

I just got a black/maple M5-24 and I'm somewhat smitten with it. 

I can normally nitpick a fault or something I'm not happy with but I can't with this Japanese Sadowsky. 

They really are superb instruments.

On my luggage scales it's 4.58kg

Weighed it about half a dozen times and it kept coming back to this weight or thereabouts.

Really don't want to do this as I just bought it from Josh on here but with a newly arrived Sadowsky Modern 5 string in the house, I need a rethink and rationalisation of my bass gear.

Bass is exactly the same as per Josh's sale post. Nordstrand pickups with 3 band EQ. Brilliant neck. Poplar burl top is very pretty. Bass is very light and is extremely well put together and comes with the Ibanez gig bag.

Bass can be auditioned in Market Drayton between Shrewsbury and Stoke. Will box up for courier if buyer arranges their own service and level of cover etc

Up for sale is my Sterling Ray35 in natural ash. A superb bass that  captures the essence of a StingRay 5 for half the money. I've had a fair few USA StingRay 5s and this can hold its own with those. And of the half dozen Ray35s I've owned I've done more band work with this one despite having more basses to choose from these days.

I've just overspent and need to start listing a couple of basses. May list the Ibanez SR1605 I just got off here too.

The bass has some discolouring on the fingerboard and some small marks here and there. The Pickguard has markings which are commensurate with it being a gigging/ well used bass.

Overall excellent condition. Didn't come with a bag when I bought it used from Bass Direct but can add a Deluxe Fender gig bag.

Will package for courier if buyer arranges their own service and level of cover. 

Can't believe this hasn't sold yet.

Massive sellers regret coming on lately over the one I let go in 2021☹️

Overall vibe, neck feel and profile, string spacing etc are very, very close to a StingRay 5HH. In between sounds were wonderful.

I've realised I've partly now got a Sterling Ray35HH( which is a lovely bass in its own right) not kust because it is half the price of a used full fat USA one, but also about trying to atone for some of the Dimension Deluxe 5HH sellers regret I currently have. 

Trust me, If you see one come up for sale, buy it!!

I'll message them and see what can be done. Definitely thinking new pickguard with the neck humbucker moved about an inch further back towards the bridge is the answer.

Only (slight) negative for me at any rate is the neck humbucker is too near to the end of the fretboard. I would spec the neck HB being further back towards the bridge one if I was ordering another Klos (and that will likely happen once the 5 string is out)

I like everything else about the bass. Neck profile, tone, set up,light weight, ergonomics etc are all ticking boxes for me. Happy with the bass being passive but still looking to try it with an external preamp pedal (Sadowsky SBP2)

The neck is great to play and has that sustain that just rings on and on. Everything is very even output wise and chords and intervals just sound better. That's what I wanted the bass for so it fills its brief well.

Bought Josh's Ibanez SR1605 from him. Really easy guy to deal with, great comms, held the bass a few days for me too. 

Bass was well packed, arrived quicker than I expected and as described. Top fella, absolute credit to Basschat.

That's the exact bass I had back in the mid 90s and sold before I moved down under for a couple of years. God I still miss it now.

That and a Sabre exactly the same colour/guard/board which I briefly saw hanging on a music shop wall in Glasgow about 20 years ago.

I went to go back and try it a couple of days later but it was gone.

OR, I wait and see if a CLF Research L-2000 pops up, as they seemed to be selling at reasonable prices when they were around. Just doesn’t seem to be any anywhere right now.

 

OR, I put my wallet away, stick with what I’ve already got and try and stop this madness. 😃

The pearl grey L2000 is a Fullerton Deluxe model which is a full fat USA L2K that comes with a gig bag instead of a case. 

Grey/maple or Ruby red/rosewood are the only two choices.
