I bought a Mayones fretless from Douglas which has been one of the easiest, quickest and most painless deals I've ever conducted on basschat or anywhere else.
Firstly the bass is a beautiful thing that plays wonderfully. Couldn't be happier with it. And Douglas went above and beyond throughout the sale. He's an absolute stand up guy and a credit to this forum.
Was great chatting with you Douglas. Thanks for a super smooth and easy deal.
All the best!

Hi
Where are the side dots? On the fret positions or in between?
Thanks

Refin? Love it
Metal flake green. Was a factory finish round about 1999/2000 iirc.
It was offered at the same time as pearl lavender and metal flake brown. I had pearl lavender StingRay 5 for a number of years (pictured earlier in this thread)

Ben bought my MusicMan Classic Sabre during the week. Thoroughly top bloke who knows his Sabre stuff. He even brought along a lush pre EB example of his for me to have a look at. Great chatting with you Ben, I hope the Classic finds its niche in your Sabre harem..
Cheers!

Met with Stuart and did a bass trade today. Top fella, had a coffee and put the bass world to rights (specifically factory relic jobs and grubby maple fretboards)
Not the first time I've bought/sold/traded with Stuart. Always a pleasure mate, hope your new bass serves you well!

Just bought Dave's SKC Bogart 5 string. Absolutely love it and Dave was a great guy to deal with. Not often I get as stoked with a bass these days but many thanks Dave.!

I've gone back to fives again after going back to fours for a bit. Love the feel of the four but can't beat the practicality of a five.

I think when I get another gas itch I’m just going to give you a call and see what you have your about to sell.
I actually have someone who does that☺️ a bit sad really that I have more than a bit of a turnaround on my basses at times but hey ho new toys...
Anytime Wayne. I'll make sure there's biscuits in the jar

Hi Alan, I'm not able to accurately measure the action but it's low.
I don't ever have any bass I have to fight with and I normally set up my basses with the action as low as it will go without fretting out. I will take some pictures of the fretboard and string height later if any good to you?
One thing I've found with all MusicMan basses with the compensated nut is that the action is a little bit higher at the first fret than I would ideally like. But like I said I'm a complete wuss when it comes to set ups on a bass. I play with a light touch. Don't really ever dig in so I like the action low.

Paul bought my Vintage Sunburst Sterling Ray35H. Quick payment. Met him this evening just gone to handover the bass. Proper stand up guy - he bught me a drink and we obviously had a bass related chat. Top fella, knows his stuff and he has great taste in basses.
Thanks Paul. Hope to buy/sell/trade with you again!! 🙂
Cheers

Spanner has been thrown in the works and my original plan could be in jeapordy, so to help me get my Valenti back I'm putting my workhorse Ray 35H back up for sale again. Put it up a few weeks back then withdrew it because I really didn't fancy parting with it. Anyway needs must.
Older style Ray35 bought from Bass Direct s/h for £700 earlier this year. Was bought new by another basschat member who traded it in.
Few small marks, bit of discolouration/mojo on fingerboard, pickguard shows signs of being well used (£30 for a new one from earlpilanz on ebay in almost any colour or pattern you can think of)
it's a superb example of these basses. Has that big fat tone that just bubbles under everything else going on.
The bass didn't come with the Sterling gig bag but I can include a Deluxe Fender heavy padded one with the bass.Strings could likely do with replacing.
Bass free to audition in Market Drayton, Shropshire. Could possibly meet Telford or Stoke areas.
Could make arrangements to meet in East Finchley, North London on Sunday 6th August as I'm hoping to drive down if I can sort a couple of deals beforehand.

Valeon Bass Dapper FX strip
Tuner/Compressor/Auto wah/Bass Preamp/Octaver/Chorus
Can select fuzz on or off with auto wah
Fx loop between octave and chest for adding other pedals.
XLR out
Metal chassis
Boxed with manual. Mint condition. Only ever used once at practice. I just don't get on with FX apart from a compressor on my amp
£75 posted
Can possibly meet Stoke/Telford areas.

Congrats!
I have flats on mine and is my go to bass that I reach for at home. My plan is to put chrome covers on it whenever I remember to order them.
Like I said the pics don't do the colour justice. It's a duller red in RL, not so tomato sauce looking. I think it's the best colour on the JB62s followed by shell pink and surf green

2013 MusicMan Classic Sabre
One piece natural ash body with birdseye maple neck. Usual Sabre appointments- two flat topped humbuckers (16 pole in neck/8 pole at bridge), 5 way selector switch - in between positions are bridge facing coil of neck pickup on its own (getting into P bass territory) and the other is the same coil paired with the bridge humbucker (Lakland mode) There is a silent circuit for the single coil when in pos 2 and 4.
2EQ preamp, no centre detentes on pots/knobs. Old style bridge with mutes.12" radius fretboard, compensated nut and body contours (only the Sabre has these features in the Classic series)
Now discontinued, wonderful sounding bass. Weight is 4.77kg on my luggage scales. (I got a multitude of readings from 4.46 up to 4.79 kgs so took one at the top end) Feels indestructible, top quality, no issues at all. Balances great when worn and not tiring if worn with a wide(ish) strap.Comes with the original MM hard case.
Only selling as a chance to buy back my much missed Valenti Jazz has come up.
Audition in Market Drayton, Shropshire. Can possibly meet Stoke, Crewe,Shrewsbury,Telford and possibly driving down to London on Sunday 6th August. Thanks for looking

Yet another vote for Harley Benton. I've got a dakota red JB-62 which I really like.
You can get a B stock one delivered for £100. I've bought a few B stock HBs and I've yet to find a fault with any.

Colour never captures right on camera. It's at least a shade darker in real life

I had a pair of V3 four strings. Gigged a white one with a black as back up - terrific basses with a really great preamp imo. Sold them when I moved back to fives and n all fairness I'd likely have had this passive version if I didn't need to shift a few first.
GLWTS!

That’s a really good price (underpriced IMHO) for what I’m sure is a great Ray.
GLWTS.
I agree it's underpriced. Someone is going to get a bargain.

Just met with Tony this evening and traded my Sadowsky 5 string for his Warwick Thumb 5. Great guy to deal with and a really easy, smooth trade.
Reminisced about our first trade 15/16 years ago (Spector/G&L) and agreed that a lot of basses have passed through our hands since then. Also agreed to meet again in 15 years time for another trade.
Thanks Tony, hope the Sadowsky serves you well m8 🙂
