1. HI up for sale is my Boss GT-6. this is the skinny stringer version. I've gigged this the last 2 years and as you can see its showing some marked signs of wear.(2 knobs missing, scuffing etc) everything works ok,no electronics issues.dont have the box or manual but have the original Boss PSU
sold as seen
£60

edit: only selling as I've started using the Pod XT Live floorboard out now

lol dunno how my G&L came to be here.bloomin photobucket nonsense

2. I've got a 4 string Bongo with the humbucker and single coil and its a bit of a tone monster.

good bits

big big tone with a a lot of variety
compensated nut for great intonation across the neck- harmonics pop out all over
super fast low action on mine without any rattles or choking off notes
24 frets (if thats your thing)
feels indestructible
neck single coil sounds great solo'd
4 band EQ is well voiced imo
did I say tone? this thing sounds huge, fat, and with a smooth hi-fi sounding tone
(the sounds are the best thing about teh Bongo imo)

bad bits

neck pickup bit close to the edge of the fingerboard
lower horn juts into my leg when playing seated
possibly I hear more electronics than wood in the sounds(not sure this is necessarily a bad thing)
looks still seem odd to me
painted neck not everybodyd idea of fun

I was going to offload mine but I've a project I'm using it on these days and it fits the bill brilliantly. It also compliments my Sterling very well.

hope this helps

3. the SR5 is the only 5 string I ever held onto.it was a great bass but didnt sound as full on as any Sterling I've owned/played even though its got the same control layout.just seemed softer, more hi-fi than growl, the 5 sits great in a mix though

4. the #8 neck is a peach but its not going to be on an L2500.

I cant speak about the build quality, action, fit and finish on the Tribute models but the electronics are the same as those on the USA ASAT/L2k and 2500 and they really are great-the permutations are mind boggling but easy to get round. In passive mode with the middle switch in series and the front one on neck pickup it does a great P-bass,likewise I can get close to the sounds of a Jazz and a Stingray with a couple of switch throws.another feature is the fact that if your battery goes down it plays fine in passive mode.I think the G&L passive treble and bass system is neat too and I like the fact you can lock up the hefty saddles within the big meaty bridge once set.

and imo the G&L MFD pickups sound more full on and ballsy than just about any others I've heard

I know that nig on these boards has both a L2500 and an L5500 for sale if your heart desires a USA model

5. I think the Sterling is the best bass MusicMan do. just the right amount of growl and wood in the tone and the neck is my ideal shape.I leave it in parallel 90% of the time but i quite like the other 2 settings too
versus the Ray,well tonyf said it already, however I do notice a big difference in the necks. The Sterling is narrower at the nut and defo feels thicker front to back.I'd say its a deeper C shape than the Ray.If choosing between them to buy, I'd say the neck is the biggest deciding factor,I like the Rays neck profile but I love the Sterlings...but then again i always much preferred a J neck over a P.

6. ebmm stingray for a long time had sharp unfinished polepieces.they were irritating to fingertips if the pickup was raised too much.

I used to have a Kent Armstrong flat topped MM bucker in a bass that sounded quite good if a little generic. My Bart MMC sounded warmer but a bit polite and un-stingraylike.

favourite replacement for me was the SD basslines alnico one

7. Past
-----
Satellite short scale - awful
Cimar P Copy - my first proper bass in 1983 (I think these were made by Ibanez)
Marlin Sidewinder - terrible
No name Ricky copy - dont recall anything about this other than it was blue
Westone Thunder III - thru neck, served me well.I liked this 'un
Hohner Sabre/Stingray copy - looked good in metallic teal with twin hums but sounded nondescript..
Pre EBMM Stingray - Owned this one 8 years, was a '79 in black with maple neck,a sore one to think about now
Hohner J fretless - nothing to see here
Aria 5 string fretless - looked great didnt sound or feel so good
Hohner Jack bass 4 - walnut finish,I quite liked this one
Hohner Jack bass 5 - another 5 that didnt work out
Tune Bass Maniac - great player, was bubblegum pink though
Fender Japan Jazz fretless - better fretless than the Hohner...
EBMM Sabre fretless...the best fretless I owned.but I realised my f/less skills didnt warrant it
Warwick Streamer Stage I - took this in a straight swap for my pre EB stingray. At the time it felt a win win deal for me.my bass buying habits since say otherwise
Warwick Corvette Std..feeling warwick love at the time.this was a good bass.sold it cheap to a m8 who was skint and just joined a band
Ibanez Soundgear 6 string - neck was just silly wide.No notion for a 6 ever since
EBMM Sterling - sunburst/rosewood..old style bridge, neck to die for, regret letting it go
G&L L2000 - sunburst 93 light as a feather,cracking sound and playability.sold when skint
Fender USA Precision (bought new in 2000)- trans white blonde...sold it to the bass player from Eagles tribute band Talon
Warwick Streamer Standard 5 string..I didnt like this bass at all.carolena looked like stripped pine..yuck!
EBMM Stingray 5 - (bought new in 2001)teal with rosewood... another great bass, but one string too many, persevered with this one as my only bass for 5 years though
EBMM Stingray 2EQ - teal again, this time with maple board, loved the sound of this bass so much, sold to fund car repair, half the money got me a....
EBMM SUB - Teal yet again..I cant stomach this colour now...still this was a cracking bass and sounded at least as good as the SR4 it replaced
Status Energy - graphite necked,I liked and disliked this bass in equal measures
Status Groove - sunburst, nice, sold it to BWer when I got my Sterling this year
Fender USA Jazz V - No more 5's after this(well not floppy ones like this Fender)
EBMM Bongo 4HS - rare white one, loved the sound of it,didnt get on with the looks or the lack of space between the neck single p/up and the edge of the board
G&L Asat semi-hollow - cherryburst with f-hole,great bass,just felt that 2 Asats was 1 too many
G&L Tribute L-2000 - premium natural ash version with maple board.earlier Korean example. I liked this bass every bit as much as my USA ones but sold it on to another basschatter

Current
---------
EBMM Sterling H - one of the few basses I've bought brand new, candy red with maple neck,Sterlings are the mutts nuts, nothing about it at all I can find fault with.now has rosewood board neck from the other sterling I own.sounds tighter than its stablemate.
G&L ASAT Bass - metallic gold with edge binding, bought from a BWer this year,I have a mega soft spot for this bass,it just oozes vibe and sounds great.
Spector NS5CRFM - had to try another 5 so I traded my Asat semi hollow for this bass - 35" scale length means I can hear the low notes. beautiful bass.solid highly flamed maple wings. natural oil finish - hope this one stays.
EBMM Sterling H - White sparkle.this one is lighter than my other Sterling, sounds more open too, suits the all maple neck better
G&L SB-2 - emerald blue with G&L custom birdseye maple/ebony neck. I love this bass for its passive growl and amazing neck
G&L L-1500 - this and the SB-2 were bought on basschat. the clear forest green finish looks great over ash. heavy bugger but the trade off is that its got a deep clear tone with loads of snap.
Spector Euro 5 - same solid maple wings (quilt this time)as my other Spector but this one is high polish see thru green. same tonepump circuit but this one sounds brighter. not sure if its a Euro or NS5 CRFM. earlier serial than the other so I guess it must be a CRFM

8. my ASAT bass needs the volume backed off a bit as the MFD pickups go microphonic at high volumes.this also tames the aggressive in your face growl a fair bit.I've now taken to use it in passive mode mostly and it sounds perfect.I really love the depth and variation in tone on the L2K/ASAT

9. before the LX and Pro M basses they used to have a Streamer Bolt on,which had a cherrywood body.

the press ads here in the UK used to show it along with a Thumb BO,Corvette Proline and Fortress basses( I drooled over that ad) iirc that would be about '94

10. for me this is a no brainer - streamer standard has a cheap looking bridge and carolena wood body that looks like stripped pine and felt like it to touch- imo you did the right thing and got an ash bodied warwick with the 2pc bridge/tailpiece.I owned both at varying times and the corvette Std was far superior to the streamer std.you'd need at least a LX or a ProM to get a better streamer than the corvette you got
just my two bobs worth and congrats on the bass
