  1. Yes, thank you itu, they are solder pads. They’re not too small, but yes a good iron tip will certainly help!.

The board itself is about 26mm x 30mm

The board  depth as indicated by the markers in the diagram is around 23mm. The thread is around 9mm and the knob shaft also 9mm.

    Hope this helps!

oh and a battery clip as well as an output jack comes fitted as standard. Strangely not mentioned in the spiel.

    Onboard%20Preamp%202-Band%20stacked%2040

    Onboard preamp 2-band stacked version:

The GLOCKENKLANG 2-band onboard preamp is active/passive switchable (at the volume push/pull), has a balance-pot with no volume dip in center-position, a treble-pot with +/- 18 dB@18 KHz in active mode, acting as classical highcut in passive mode and a bass-pot with +/- 14 dB@40 Hz. Battery-connection is 9 volts.

Due to the high performance electronic, in flat position of the eq you can hear no difference between active and passive mode!
It comes pre-wired with highflexible cables. Bass and Treble stacked pot WITH BLACK KNOBS INCLUDED!!

The knobs for these are pretty pricey, so I have saved you the cost.

Shipping will be tracked and insured so I'd appreciate a few quid being chucked my way for mainland UK shipping. Further afield we'll need to figure out. The preamplifier has been used, but cabling hasn't been cut short. An exceptional pre!

    https://www.glockenklang.de/en/products/products_bass.htm

Connection diagrams and schematics are available clearly on the website thankfully too :) - So I'll not worry about pasting that in the advert.

    Technical Data:

    Gain: 1 (0 dB)

    Input-impedance (without Balance): 1,5 MOhm

Frequency range: 20 Hz -20 KHz

    Bass: +/- 14 dB@40 Hz

    Treble: +/- 18 dB@18 KHz

    Power requirement: 9/18 volts/1,3 mA

Min. installation depth: 28 mm (1.1")

  3. Fed up with issues with pickups of differing output not blending well with a standard passive blend control? Fear not! Not only can you set the levels of the individual pickups, the active blend means no dead spots and balanced mixing of your bass pickups. Ideal for normal two pickup basses but also where piezo and magnetic elements are concerned.

Never used, still in box as it arrived to me.

    MIXPOT
The MixPot 1 is a miniature onboard pickup mixing preamp, mounted to the underside of a balance pot (center click). The preamp allow to combine Piezo and magnetic pickups, two magnetic pickups or two Piezo pickups without any additional outboard signal routing electronics.
Two independent channels allow to preset (trimpot) the amount of the boost up to +18dB. You can expect 800 hours of solid operation from a single 9V battery. Adding an additional 9-Volt battery (18V) will ensure more headroom and longer battery life.

  4. A boxed and absolutely never used OBP3TK onboard preamp. Price reflects that I have not installed it in an instrument.

    Aguilar say:

    OBP-3
    3 BAND, BOOST/CUT
9 OR 18 VOLT ON BOARD PREAMP
The OBP-3 is Aguilar’s most flexible onboard preamp design, providing +/-18dB of cut and boost at 40Hz, +/- 16dB of cut and boost at either 400Hz or 800Hz and +/- 16dB of treble cut and boost at 6.5 kHz. The OBP-3 has multiple wiring options, and can be wired with either a push/pull pot OR mini-toggle for midrange frequency selection.

OBP-3TK: Includes separate Treble, Mid, and Bass pots, and black mini-toggle switch for Midrange frequency selection.

Midrange frequency selections can also be customised using the manual for guidance.

  5. Hi Jeff! Yes they have arrived on our shores and a new batch came in this week. I know as one has just arrived with me ready for a full video review for Bass Gear Magazine!

Bass Direct were advertising just the other day too.

  6. I'm just having a think about the various (countless) pedals I have video reviewed over the years and which ones were notable for their flexible tones.

I liked the GR Bass distortion, the EBS as previously mentioned. I tell ya a great pedal that you wouldn't usually associate with mid frequency drive: the Tech 21 Steve Harris pedal does a superb grit when you get it in its sweet spot. The Darkglass Vintage pedals on low settings are good and you'd do well to give Barefaced's Machinist a whirl as it has the ability to parallel blend fuzz, distortion and clean low end together. It's a bit pedal though off you need space on your board.

The Orange Bass Butler sounds great and, well, if you have deep pockets, Neural DSP's Quad Cortex will do everything you want and a whole lot more, but that's outside of requirements!

I just spotted the Secret EFX Omnia Bass Drive review by @Dood in Bass Gear Magazine, worth watching the demo.

"It sounds like a driven amplifier tone, not just a great bass sound with a fizzy distortion layered on top."

Simple controls, works on 9 to 24V DC, and I particularly liked the way it responds to playing dynamics.

Now that is a great lil pedal! Alex Lofoco sent over his very own pedal for the review and, understandably wasn't about to not let me keep hold of it for a bit!

Aaaaaand, I've just bought my old EBS Billy back 😄

There's some really cool tricks up the Sheehan pedals have up their sleeves. Using the sends alone on the effects loops you can split the signal and send it off to separate paths or even different amps.

It's not very helpful I know, but the main thing here is the old-style Precision with the single coil. The distortion is adding flavour but that single coil clank is really what this sound is all about.

When I had such a Precision I used to get a great ZZ Top tone with an EBS Billy Sheehan, surprisingly. I don't think chasing a Marshall-derived tone is vital.

Absolutely this! It's all in the mids. I use the Sheehan Deluxe, put it on a low gain setting and then for a cabinet sim, the Mooer / Fender Micro DI. You might not even need an EQ. The compressor on the Deluxe is lovely in the 'mid' setting too.

That's a point, @Doodif you're reviewing a bass that comes in 4 and 5 string and they are only going to send one of them - which do you pick?

I always try to pick the 5 if I have only one option, but on occasion, I’ve only been able to get the 4 string version due to availability. In a perfect world I’d have both over.

Anyone else managed to try or buy the NJS? Just watched the Bass The World video and am still very interested....

I've video reviewed a "real" Elrick NJS 5 and am going to see if I can get the Cort version in for a spin to see how it compares. The videos seem a little thin on the ground out there at the moment, but my initial thoughts are that it could be quite a nice bass. The Cort Modern 4 and Cort A5 Ultra are super nice basses, so the NJS should be too.

I think there's plenty of female bassists out there, but maybe they're just not interested in online discussion forums?

Maybe they're actually out practicing rather than us here sitting talking about it 🤣

Wait a moment, aren't you the chap who does the bass demos for guitar interactive on YouTube?

If so, I really enjoy those - really thorough, laid back demos, and I dig your pick playing.

Hi @Vin Venal! Yes indeed! That’s me!

Thank you so much for the very kind words! I’ve since left Guitar Interactive (after having recording over 400 videos for them) and I now shoot video reviews for Bass Gear Magazine! I’ll be endeavouring to do better videos from my own personal studio!
it will allow me freedom to create better content!

I’ve also been a contributor over at Bass Player Magazine with my own column every month!

    Dan.
