I tried a LH1000 through an EBS Proline 8x10 once. The owner of the rehearsal studio turned the master volume up just over halfway for ‘a laugh’ in bridged mode. I honestly thought I was going to be physically ill.   There is a serious amount of power on tap in bridged mode.

At ‘normal’ volume levels it was a really great but not very portable set up.

I also found that I could run very hot pickups in to the high gain input for tons more output level without fearing the front end distorting. Gobs of clean power for not much money.

The real power off a Veyron is over 700 watts and the difference between that and the 1000W of the Hartke is inconsequential. Even if the Hatrtke IS 1000W the difference is irrelevant and in fact only 500W into a single cabinet. So then you have to then look at the other issues. The choice is yours.

incidentally , just to others help, the LH1000 bridges it’s full output in to 4 ohms - and, when measured properly, dumps out 1100W RMS in to said load. The power supply is hefty and definitely delivers a weighty sound.

Although it isn’t advertised or suggested, technically each 500W module in the LH can handle 2 ohms (hence the 4 ohm bridge capability).

Ok. Just been informed that being a full time musician isn’t a real job. Along with other selected classics over the years

“Covers/functions gigs are not real gigs”

”Doing that means you have no integrity..”

”You must be dead inside to play that stuff”

    ”It’s easy…”

”But you play… (insert genre, add the disgust)”

    add yours at leisure…

The £300+ I just chucked in my account a few hours back was not ‘REALLY earned’ 🤣🤣

True story: At school I told my careers advisor in front of my whole class I wanted to ve a session musician.

She replied, “That’s all well and good Daniel, but what will you do for a real job?”

In your face lady! My bass has been solely paying all of my bills for many, many years now and has been my obsession for over 35 years (as those who have seen my reviews know!)

Here's what our very own @Dood  had to say about this model"

Thank you so much for sharing my video! This is a great amplifier! I love the “feel” of playing through it. I’m fussy about my preamp sections on amps too and found it was easy to dial in what I wanted immediately.

I have a really nice EBS head at home which I rate highly, in my top 5 amps I think! (I’ve reviewed over 400 pieces of bass gear over the years).

Tone hammer500 has separate output for each cabinet so i guess it's not daisy chain.

The two outputs on the amplifier are wired together in parallel, it doesn't matter if you cable as a daisy chain or to each cabinet separately, the internal loading on the amplifier will still be the same :)

Maybe i am a bit stupid, but ther's one more question about HD112. If i use them with tone hammer 500, how much ohm is the right on bouth hd112 - 4 or 8 ?

Set each switch to 8 ohms when you daisy chain them and the resulting load at the amp will be 4 ohms.

As good as my Combustion 5/3 was out of the box (bought new earlier this year) I've upgraded a few things - Super Fatty II pickups, black Hipshot USA tuners, and Babicz bridge saddles. Worthwhile improvements to an already great bass.

I had a white Combustion and did exactly the same! I loved the look of the black hardware on the white. Gutted, another bass I was forced to sell :/

I was very fortunate to be on the Dingwall testing team and was one of the first to test out the prototype SFII and the FDV pickups. I'd already had Bothe the FD3n and FD3a pickups, so it was a lot of fun testing each!

(I still have the NFR's, so when I can get a Dingwall again, I will definitely be using them!)

Hearing lots of good things about this pair of young jazzers. They have written stuff for Herbie Hancock and others.

I've only heard and watched their instrumental jams which have been really entertaining and at times inspired a few grooves of my own. I hadn't heard anything with vocals in up until this point. They're both great musicians that gel very well together.

  9. Try the H4nPRO as it can handle up to 140dB (IIRC) and other models are usually around 110-120 which in some cases can lead to clipping.. Those very noisy environments. Or, as suggested, see if you can come back from the source, which could prove effective if the room doesn't have too much echo!

  10. Tom Bowlus and I created this mammoth Trace Elliot (Elf) review for Basss Gear Magazine for this who'd like to know a bit more about the lil Elves!

I'm allowed to be honest about my review kit, so I can happily report that I loved the Elf head - and when I have some cash I'll probably buy one for myself!

  11. My favourite of all the CIJ P basses! The PB70 is such a great bass. I'd been looking for a PB70US-ASH RW - which is basically the same thing with a rosewood fretboard, but if one of these maple versions came up, I'd have some serious words with my bank account over it!

  12. If it's a full-band compressor in the path, then I might try the HPF first so that it can filter unwanted subsonic frequencies from hitting the compressor and overwhelming it's control circuit.

Now this may or may not be the case as some compressors have suitable filtering / side-chain circuits that ignore sub frequencies, but there are many that don't.

I think Ben Miller (Armstrong & Miller) is on drums and Mark Williams (The Fast Show) is on keys. I recognise the guitarist too, but can't remember his name. Not sure who the bloke in the audience that the camera keeps going to is, though 😄

Yes, I was having fun watching the audience too!!

That's pretty cool, although I'm not sure the TonePrint works on the RH750 :(

Sadly not - the BH800 and similar heads do have Toneprint functionality. - I've a TC Nova Dynamics pedal that although brilliant, pre-dates the Toneprint technology too. I love the pedal, I just need to figure out what the in-built settings are so I can transfer them to my Spectracomp! When I asked TC Electronic, they couldn't help sadly.

    Rh750 is a nice amp :)

Great review Dan, front pickup very Precision-like!

Thank you so much! :) On reflection I wish I had added a play through at the start of the video, but hey, that's one versus 400 odd that do have a play through ha ha!

Yeah, really nice basses these - I asked if I could give the 5 string a go at some point too as the GB75JH, that came before this model has a particularly good low B.

According to the American Tinnitus Association, "Tinnitus may be the brain's way of filling in the missing sound frequencies it no longer receives from the auditory system"

    https://www.ata.org/understanding-facts/causes

Another article which again mentions the above said that "tinnitus is the brain trying, but failing, to repair itself"

    https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/01/110112122504.htm

So if lower pitches are affected then our tinnitus sounds will be of a lower pitch. Same for higher pitches.

I'm lucky in that most of the time it's background noise that I tune out. Sooner a cure/treatment is found the better especially for those much worse off than myself whose sleep is affected.

My hearing tests suggest I have a dip at 4Khz (which isn't that uncommon anyway) but, using my test gear here, my loudest, most predominant tinnitus also sits at around 4Khz, so that might be right or purely coincidental.

Audiologists have in some cases found that using hearing aids that fill in what's missing from a sufferers hearing can help to alleviate the effects of Tinnitus. (That is, a hearing aid that only amplifies what the ear is having trouble hearing, normal ambient sounds can pass through the ear canal as normal). My last Audiologist used hearing aids for this very reason and was able to noticeably mask the tinnitus effects of his time shooting guns. *I hope my understanding is correct and it's a path I am going to follow to test the theory myself.
