1.
The reason for selling is I am looking at getting a more powerful head and moving to a 4 x 10 cab.
Any idea what your after?
2. I'm thinking of selling my Warwick Pro Fet 5.1 and WCA 411 Pro 4x10 cab. PM me if your interested.
3.
Don't get hung up on the 1x15/4x10 route. When you combine virtually any two cabs the sum will sound better than either on its own.
I'm definately not hung up on a 1x15/4x10 combination (hence my plan for the BigOne) - which is why I asked for alternatives to that combination that would fill out the sound of the band in a way that I can't get from my current setup. I think you are right in that I just liked the improvement in sound from using just the 4x10. Cheers!
4. That seems my most likely route. If I can get a similar volume and sound as the 1x15 + 4x10 weighing in at a total of 180lbs (Thats way heavier than me!) from a lightweight setup of LH1000 + Bigone weighing at under half that, it would be amazing! And I would be very happy <--- See!
5. ... what a sound! The combo is a Peavey TNT 115 200w at 2 ohms. I put it on top of my warwick 410 ext cab that I normally use with a 500w warwick profet 5.1. The sound was so much better! Loud as hell, and real beefy! It filled out the overall sound of the band - and I only had it on about 3 or 4 on the master volume. Now the downside is I think I may have broken my back lifting this beast on top of the cab by myself - it weighs 94lbs and I'm only skinny! So, now I need to figure out how to get a sound similar to this in a lightweight package to prevent further spinal injury. Anyone got any ideas? Obviously theres the option of getting 4x10 and a 1x15 neo cabs but ideally i'd rather just need one cab or at least smaller ones? Is there a way of getting a similar sound from a different setup? Maybe a 2x10 and 1x15? Or even a 1x15 and a 1x12? Would the barefaced compact or bigone match up to a 410 and 115?
6. I drive a ford KA. It is crazy the amount of stuff you can fit in it. Before now i've had my 410 cab, head, two pa speakers, big mixer unit, bass guitar, a load of drum stands etc. Its all about the packing! It found it a little difficult to move mind and guzzled a ton of petrol.
7. Thanks for the replies so far. I'm quite keen on having a fairly simple head without too many controls for me to mess up my sound with which is why i'm leaning more towards the lh1000. I'm also probably more likely to go for the big one rather than the compact. Do you think the heads running through the compact would be able to compete with 2 guitarists and a loud drummer at small-medium sized gigs, sometimes not di'd? Are there any other suggestions for similarly powerful, reasonably small heads, in a similar price bracket that would also do the job?
8. I'm looking to upgrade my head, i'm currently using a warwick profet 5.1 500w. I use it through a warwick pro 411 (4x10) cab that is rated 600w at 4ohm with max 800w. I like a sound similar to the tool bassist and play a similar style of music - sort of progressive heavy rock...? I like a clean but fat sound, I think perhaps a slight bit of 'growl' might be nice for some of the heavy parts when i'm really going at it but i don't like an overdriven sound. I don't use any effects either. I'm very interested in the Hartke LH1000 and the GK 1001 RB II. Has anyone used one or both these amps? Can you tell me the pros and cons of each (apart from the Hartke is way cheaper) and if they would suit the sort of music I play? Or perhaps a different suggestion? Also as they are both powerful amps would they kill my cab? I am planning on eventually getting a compact or bigone from Alex at Barefaced Bass but that will be a bit after i've got a new head so I will have to play with the 4x10 cab for a while. Thanks for help! Chris.
9. Hmm, I think i'll stick to UK tours for a while, ha ha. Cheers mate!
10. Hey! Sounds like the gigs have been going well! I'm going to be looking to try to organise some gigs for my band across Europe in the near future - any advice you can give me? We are a relatively new and its unlikely we'll be known in Europe so i wouldn't be looking for huge venues. Cheers for the help. Chris.
11. Which venues are you looking at in Cardiff? There is a great new venue in Bridgend called Hobos which is very good and has quickly become established - let me know if you want contact details. Some venues in Newport - TJ's, Le Pub, Meze Lounge, Riverside Tavern.. A bit further west you've got places in Neath and Swansea like The Duke, Sin City, Bar Co, Monkey Bar.. A great venue to play is The Masons in Llanelli. Small but very friendly.
12. Hi, how are you all? I have a Peavey TNT 115 combo for sale. 150 watts (rms) into 4 ohms 200 watts (rms) into 2 ohms See website for full spec: http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/...NT®%20115.cfm This is a great amp for practice and live. I've never had any problems with it - its built like a tank! I bought it new for £489 from soundcontrol (Bristol) and have had it for about 4/5 years now. I've used it for quite a lot of gigs but its never been pushed overly hard as it was often D.I'ed into the PA at the larger gigs. Its got a very small tear in the coating and some scratches on the grill from traveling to and from gigs. I'll get some pics up asap. Only selling because I've bought new stuff and need the space and money otherwise I'd keep it as a backup. PRICE DROP to £150 collected Chris.
13.
Never mix different drivers operating within the same bandwidth.
Whys that? What happens to the sound?
14. Hmmm, now I am thinking maybe a 2x12 and a 2x10. Anyone have any experience playing with this setup?
15.
I really think your poll is a bit meaningless.
i'm just trying to get an idea of what most people like to use
16. Hi all, I want to know what cab setup people prefer/recommend for music with elements of rock, progressive and metal: 4x10 or 2x10 and a 1x15 or 2x12 Needs to be loud enough for small/medium gigs with a 500w head. Could you also leave a comment as to why and what the differences are between them. Thanks in advance, Chris.
17. Hi, Can someone explain the biamp thing on GK 700RB-II? What it is and does etc? Thanks muchly
18. Barneythedog - how do you find the little mark through warwick cabs?
19. So I was all set on getting the LMII but the more I read about it it seems you either love it or hate it. I've now started looking at other heads and also like the GK700RB-II and the warwick profet 5.1 seems like it might be good too. I want around 500w and play alternative/progressive metal along the lines of tool and opeth. The GK seems like it has loads of extra features that the others don't jusst not sure if i'd use them... The warwick is much cheaper than the LMII and GK but is it as good? I don't have the option to try all these out, the nearest guitar store just has a couple of ashdowns and peavey stuff. Anyway, anyone got any views on these three amps or suggestions for others in the same price bracket (around £500 preferably less)
20. Hi, I've found a good deal on a used ashdown abm 410-H. Has anyone used this setup? What do you think of it?
21. can you give some more details about the cab? and how much would you sell it for?
22. Hi, would you be interested in splitting the amp and cab? Im interested in the cab.
