1.
Some amp designs are a bit hissy IME. Its not gonna be an issue at all at a gig. Doubt it would even be much of an issue recording.
I have the LH1000. I can't hear the hiss at all in a gig situation or band practice. I've recently recorded with it too and couldn't hear it. You can only hear it when you are by yourself in a quiet room.
get the LH1000 and have LOADS of power to spare
yeah do that!
 2. I just looked on Thomann. To get this cab and the new model head delivered your looking at £692. £500 (+ P&P) is a bargain. The cab is in as new condition, I even have its original box, and the head is in good condition as well.
 3.
If you reach the limits of the LH1000/BigOne pairing then its time to give out earplugs to everyone at gigs, including those in adjacent buildings. Alex
Ha ha, yeah I dont think I need to go louder. GAS is a terrible affliction though...
 4.
What happens if I put a Midget on top of my Big One? Will they complement or compete?
Thats exactly what I was thinking!
 5. My band Flood the Skies are playing in The Duke in Neath tonight. We are playing with a band called Right Turn Blind. Come down and check us out.
 6.
I am thinking of buying my first head and cab. Any advice? I dont have much money so a decent cheap-ish one would be fine. A link to some sort of guide to help would be great too.
Shameless link to my Warwick rig in the For Sale section As mentioned above you need to give some indication of budget, size of venues, type of band set up etc. I guess from your name you'll be playing metal?
 7.
Link?
Oops! Flood the Skies
 8. Hey! These are just the first mixes, and may well be altered before the final mix in the near future. The two tracks pretty much represent the opposing sides of our sound. 'Tapeworm' is a fairly heavy riff-based tune about something to do with sleep paralysis and dreams and the like... I forget exactly - that one was written a while ago! But no, it's nothing to do with our experiences with tapeworms. 'Voices' on the other hand is a slow building and darkly atmospheric song. It's kind of a message to all the people that never shut up but don't actually have anything useful to say (you know the ones!). Anyway, please take a few minutes (or 8 minutes and 52 seconds to be exact) to have a listen and let us know what you think. Make sure you listen to the whole songs as they change throughout, especially 'Tapeworm'. Flood the Skies Cheers, Chris.
 9.
How much for the head alone?
£250 for the head & case, £350 for the cab or £500 for both. These are the collection prices.
 10. Any progress on the covers? I'd like one for my BigOne.
 11.
Suspect JoeGarcia's twin GS412s and Sunn1200S (plus another valve amp when he's between exploding them) might have the edge, 4-5 times the size, and many times the weight though.
Jeez! That must be sooo crazy loud!
 12.
By god I bet thats about as loud as any rig on BassChat....
It is loud indeed - for small & med gigs it really doesn't need to go over 6 and definately not over 7, after this the volume shoots up too. After using some less powerful rigs I love playing with the knowledge i've got enough volume for any gig i'll play. I haven't actually tried it at full volume - I think it might kill me if i'm standing anywhere near it!
 13. On Saturday I took my LH1000 and BigOne to a gig. The other bands were going to use a huge Peavey 8x10 and some old head that i've never heard of. Now this venue was up two flights of stairs - i've no idea how they got it up there without a crane. Anyway, I turned up carrying my BigOne by myself and I could see the other bassists looking at me and thinking 'ha, look at his tiny cab, he isn't gonna make much noise with that' The headline band sound checked and the peavey cab farted out a horrible muddy sound while I sat there quietly knowing what was coming. The band on after us isn't there yet so we sound checked next - my bass sound was warm and clear, it punched through the mix with ease and there was no distortion at gigging volume. I was feeling pretty pleased with myself. After the sound check the bassist for the opening band comes up to me "hey, can I use your setup when I play" "sure thing" I reply. They are going to do a quick line check before they play. Now I get to hear what my rig sounds like from the other side. Ooh yeah - it sounds sweet! Our turn to play - the set goes really well and the crowd really enjoys it. As I start packing up my stuff the bassist from the next band comes up to me "scuse me mate" "yeah" I reply with a wry smile knowing exactly what he was about to say next "Is it ok if I use your rig?" " Yeah go for it" I say. The bassist for the headline band decides he's gonna be stubborn and stick to his fart machine. When the gig is over I chat with the other bassists and tell them all about barefaced and how awesome the cab is. They all agree how amazing it sounded. Then I tell them to pick it up, they are completely shocked at how light it is. It just shows you dont need a massive stack to sound really good. I think there may be some more converts coming your way Alex! Now, hows about an endorsement deal... :brow:
 14.
LH1000 is £330 on Ebay, I'm seriously tempted, so you could get one, and not make much of a loss when you sell it on to me, if you don't like it.
Its worth it - thats as cheap as you'll find it these days! I've got a LH1000 and I love it. As mentioned above you don't get much overdrive with it but it is crazy loud, clear and punchy. You can run it in parallel or bridge mode too. I run mine through a Barefaced BigOne - oh yeah!
 15. Well thats good news - cheers guys. It doesn't mention it in the manual. Thanks!
 16. Hi, I recently bought a Hartke LH1000. When I turn it on the relay protection circuit clicks on after about three seconds like it is supposed to but then there is no sound and it takes approx 5-10 seconds for the sound to start coming out? Is this normal? Does this happen to other people who use the LH series? Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
 17. This is TONIGHT! If you're in the area why not come along and enjoy some FREE live music!
 18. My band 'Flood the Skies' are playing on 11th July at Le Pub in Newport. This should be a good gig we are supporting a well known popular local band called 'Spiridion' who are playing their come back gig after almost a year out. It should be busy! Theres two other bands playing 'Life! Death! Prizes!' and 'The Swinging Stylers'. Its a free gig - come down and enjoy some quality live music. See you there!
 19. My band Flood the Skies are playing at the Masons in Llanelli on the 10th July. Also playing are Innocence Died Screaming (our good friends and great band). Its free so come along and enjoy some live music. It'll also be the first time I use my Barefaced BigOne at gig!
 20.
I thought it would be easier for me to have them all in one place, and then people don't have to trawl through pages looking for a venue.
Yeah your right. I'm working on a database at the mo where i'm collecting venues, phone numbers, email and website where available. I'll forward it to you once i've got a decent amount and you can them to your list.
 21. Hi, sorry for the delay getting back to you guys, i've been busy recording sun and mon! I'm based in Bridgend, South Wales. Very easy to get to on the M4.
 22. This is a link to a thread thats pretty much the same as this one: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=51183 Theres also some other countries attached to the one pictured where you might like to play too
 23. oooh i fancy this. If I hadn't just bought a Barefaced BigOne i'd go for it. Will have to have a think....
 24.
However if you actually NEED another one, I shall eat my cab!
Could you imagine how loud it would be if I was running the full 1100w of my amp through two of them! It'd blow peoples faces off!
P.S. I think BigOne scans better than Bigone (which could be an italian bread product).
Ha ha, yeah you're right there!
 25. I've recently got a Barefaced Bigone - its an awesome cab. The sound that comes out of it is amazing. You get nice deep thick lows, punchy mids and clear highs. It cuts through the mix of two guitars and drums in my band and I can hear it well wherever i'm standing. Its loud and I haven't had a chance to use it for a gig yet (sat 11th is the next one) but I know its going to perform very well. Another thing - it is so light, very portable with recessed wheels. Its a much better shape for transporting than most cabs and it feels lighter than my LH1000 head!!! I want another one... Highly recommended!
