it might be worth splashing out a paltry £20 and getting one of these , they come in handy in loads of situations anyway (amp failure during a gig for example). It will also boost your passive signal.

Seconded. That’s the other thing I have in my signal chain when playing at home and it can make a fair bit of difference. It has some great sounds packed in as well.

Any link to the shootout for those of us who missed it! I’ve heard about it before and that the results were rather unexpected and interesting!

With a bit of digging through the search function I found the blog post that wrapped up the day including the fulls results of the shootout and a couple of video clips of how Lozz ran the show at the time.

Bought a 2020 CV Precision in black just before lockdown. The shop had a brown one and a black one - tried both and the black one was slightly sweeter. There was no one-thing that I could note was better about the black one, just the feel in the hands and the sound. Try before you buy is the best bet. Quality is great, although I am tempted to give in and have it set up professionally. I can't quite get it buttery smooth, and it may need a bit of fretwork from someone more skilled than I. Still, for £339 I would gig this bass happily and not care too much about it being dropped, chipped etc.

I did a few mods to mine over lockdown, like adding a high mass bridge and new pickups (Entwistle Neos, then a Tonerider). Made the bass better sounding. I'm not going to say that these are on par with my Fender Elite Jazz, but they are great looking, sounding and if you choose carefully, well built.

Lovely! How is the neck profile? In my head these should be slimmer, approaching Jazz territory but somehow I doubt that’s the case

I'm a better band member when the Precision neck slows me down a bit.

Can relate to that somewhat. Lockdown has me playing my P/J’s more than anything else (both Jazz necks) but I know if I was playing with a band I’d be picking up something chunkier - either my Hoppus P or the new SUB - because my “job” is different in that setting.

  5. The Jag sounds like it’s perfect for you! On the amp, happy Rumble 40 v3 owner here. Don’t get to play “out loud” very often these days (terraced house + 1yr old with an early bedtime) but they’re very nice things.
