That yellow is super cool. Might have to have a gander at one of these…!

Silly question, but could you lower the volume of the other audio sources on your PC so the HB is audible without distortion?
I have a very similar setup for most of my playing, but my interface has a blend knob on the headphone out so I can just tweak the balance of my bass and whatever is coming out of my PC to taste.

In this regard, I already anticipate that I will publish on my youtube channel a sound comparison between this squier and my fender precision american performer! 😜
Oh no, I’m sure that will be what sends me over the edge 😆 -
I have had my eye on exactly that model since they were announced, entirely out of vanity as I already have two Fender P/J’s, but the white/black/maple combo at that price point is extremely alluring. Great sound test, thanks for posting.

The 6x10 would’ve been similarly dangerous for me 15 or so years ago. I have 0 use for anything of the kind now, and despite not having plugged into an amp for a couple of years, the 1x15 keeps catching my eye 😆

Speaking as someone who paid a chunk more than this for one of these a year ago, this is excellent value. GLWTS.

Beautiful looking bass, and I similarly see that as character in the wood rather than a blemish.

Just bought an Ampeg preamp pedal off Gerry. Seamless transaction, easy comms and it arrived within 36hrs of doing the deal. Buy with confidence.

Pretty sure the Squier CV Jaguar is 32” scale with passive P/J so you get a little extra versatility if you need it, and a shade cheaper than the Player range...
EDIT: so it is, here you go

Lovely stuff Lozz. It couldn’t be any other colour combo, could it?

EB are really going for it with the signature models at the moment!

Any link to the shootout for those of us who missed it! I’ve heard about it before and that the results were rather unexpected and interesting!
With a bit of digging through the search function I found the blog post that wrapped up the day including the fulls results of the shootout and a couple of video clips of how Lozz ran the show at the time.

Glad I stumbled across this one! Bit of a faff, but worth the battle. Now I just need to figure out how to get the plug-in into GarageBand...!
EDIT: this worked for me

Bought a 2020 CV Precision in black just before lockdown. The shop had a brown one and a black one - tried both and the black one was slightly sweeter. There was no one-thing that I could note was better about the black one, just the feel in the hands and the sound. Try before you buy is the best bet. Quality is great, although I am tempted to give in and have it set up professionally. I can't quite get it buttery smooth, and it may need a bit of fretwork from someone more skilled than I. Still, for £339 I would gig this bass happily and not care too much about it being dropped, chipped etc.
I did a few mods to mine over lockdown, like adding a high mass bridge and new pickups (Entwistle Neos, then a Tonerider). Made the bass better sounding. I'm not going to say that these are on par with my Fender Elite Jazz, but they are great looking, sounding and if you choose carefully, well built.
Lovely! How is the neck profile? In my head these should be slimmer, approaching Jazz territory but somehow I doubt that’s the case

Fair. I had a “Vintage Modified” P which was from Indonesia, and it was a really decent bass. Sold on to another BC member so hopefully it lives on somewhere!

Are the newer CV basses still made in China?

Looks an awful lot like the first bass I ever got my hands on - a “Hondo II” which was black with a maple board and lumbered with a Gibson style bridge. No doubt a copy of a bass like this!

I'm a better band member when the Precision neck slows me down a bit.
Can relate to that somewhat. Lockdown has me playing my P/J’s more than anything else (both Jazz necks) but I know if I was playing with a band I’d be picking up something chunkier - either my Hoppus P or the new SUB - because my “job” is different in that setting.

That sparkle 😮

Congrats. Can confirm you won’t be disappointed when you plug it in either!

The Jag sounds like it’s perfect for you! On the amp, happy Rumble 40 v3 owner here. Don’t get to play “out loud” very often these days (terraced house + 1yr old with an early bedtime) but they’re very nice things.

Nice! What a great gift!

Would a pre-amp boost my Jazz bass when using a PC audio interface and solve distortion problems? Looking for some advice

Seconded. That’s the other thing I have in my signal chain when playing at home and it can make a fair bit of difference. It has some great sounds packed in as well.
