1. Set of nickel round wound exl160's 105, 85, 70,50 came as twin pack but one set used, box tatty but plastic wrapper sealed. £10 posted.
2. Twas in vein this morning, at least I had longer to negotiate the snow.
3. I am tempted by the black acoustic but I'm on early shift next week and my alarm goes off at 4am, normally, perhaps 3-45am this week would be bearable.....
4. Someone buy this thing, best money I ever spent was on one of these. Get loads of compliments about the sound. I actually use the hartke bass attack preamp which gives me some drive and mid control, and acts as my back up but probably don't need one, the amps a bloody tank.
5. Merry Christmas, price reduction type bump. Jingle jingle.
6. That's a Jb2 tribute. They are fantastic basses. I have the 3ts with maple board and is my favourite at the moment. GLWTS.
7. Forgot to mention, comes with hard case, shipping included. Located in Aberdeen.
8. Rare beast in the UK. Powerful pj style bass, jazz neck, adjustable mfd pickups, black metallic sparkle finish. In really good condition as she's a case queen, new when I bought it and gigged only a few times. Light surface marks which would polish out, no dents and dings. Open to trade offers, especially for mim jazz with cash either way. Pics found here. Drop to £370 View Album, http://s1015.photobucket.com/user/sglbass84/library/sb2 Feedback thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/241697-stubass-feedback-thread/
9. I can vouch for the power of these things. Unbelievable, loudest passive I've ever played. Beautiful colour too. I've thought about moving mine on as I rarely use it in the current band, but I know I'd probably regret it. All the best.
10.
Now, I don't expect 2 tops and 2 subs to do too much. That sort of rig will do a pub very well and a small hall, but not much further. Having said that... there is something to be said for the P.A that runs out of steam before it hits the bar area as that is where people can get away from the sound.
That's always been my philosophy. Play to a sweet spot. We play weddings mainly so you don't want to be loud to the point it puts people off. We have an extra set of tops if required along with our wedges, never needed anything more for a medium sized hall with a crowd of 100-150.
11. Interesting, our guitarist is a sound engineer and is looking for thumps as he reckons they're the best. Not sure if I agree. I have a couple of 15" passive subs and a 500w crown amp that have served me well. Sounds crisp to me and the drummer loves them too. I hope he keeps the receipt!
12. If your anything like me, you'll only be arsed to take one, but want another as an option in case you get bored or there is some work going on to your main axe. I nearly won a cassidy on ebay, special edition silver burst, twas lovely. Went for around £320 I think. And I agree with the t bird comments. Sounds pretty good but it's a workout keeping them in your grasp (mine was modded too, with a quality strap, still behaved like a seagull in a school playground at lunchtime)
13.
Nah; that's drummers..!
Drummers are capable of emotion?!?!? I didn't think they had evolved that yet
14. Stumbled across an open group on Facebook called "the bass guitar". Omfg! Guys tearing lumps out each other over their subjective opinions, the old, an seemingly constant "4/5/6 is better than 4/5/6" (delete where appropriate) argument and general character assassination. Ok most seem to be 'merican but some Brits too. Sometimes it's funny but it's rarely educating. I was always of the opinion that us bassy types were laid back, noble, wise and mildly intoxicated fellows with nothing but respect for our mutual love of the lower frequency, as we all are on here. Throw a book of faces at it and everyone loses their minds.
15. Best colour combo imo. For the first time in ages, I don't have a white one. Beautiful!
16. I can see why it's referred to as a jazz on steroids! It's definitely a bit more aggressive with the taps right open. It can be tamed though by backing off the neck pick up. I think it's almost identical shape wise to my sb2 (photo of the sisters attached) It took a bit of setting up, action was high even before my chromes went on, but I've managed to get as low an action now as I ever have, brilliant! I've heard the fret finishing can be dodgy with these but no issues, smooth as the proverbial. Sustain in bucketloads as per with a g&l, really happy. She'll get a proper workout at practice on Friday, can't bloody wait!
