  1. I just bought a Nady Wireless unit from basejase via this site.I was giving it the quick once over and I noticed a tiny wee capacitor soldered between the live and earth of the instrument jack.Whats that for then? The unit works fine but I just wondered if it is some kind of attenuator or summit.Any body know?Cheers.

  3. I like the way it looks "extraordinary and noble".But seriously, looks like it could be OK.
  4. Can somebody put me right. There are various neck radius's(radii?).OK?This then means that there are various neck widths.OK Then that means there are various sized nuts.I have a '69 Precision which needs a new nut.I ordered one from a company on Ebay, tried to put it on today, and find that it's too small.ie short lengthwise, and smaller string spacing.Tried it on my mates '76 P-bass.Fits perfectly! The odd thing is,it fits my J-bass to a tee .Does anybody know the various neck dimensions of the Precision,or what size nut I should be looking for. Thanx guys.
  5. Just bought a bridge of this man.Smooth from start to finish.Thanx!!

  8. Thanx my friend, that link provided a wealth of info.I can see now that although they're quieter, the tone is there, while in the Jazz pups, the volume is there, but the tone is nondescript. They're wired up OK so I guess I'll just have to tweak the volume control a bit. Many thanx.
  9. When I say powerful I guess I mean louder.I have changed pots a couple times, but mainly just because I had to,but to my recollection the SDs never were that great.I replaced the original pups mainly because the G+B strings were weaker than the rest, but after installing the SDs the problem was pretty much the same.I copied a wiring diagram I found on the internet. Is there a meter test I could do to check them I wonder? Also, could you define Hot?
  10. Hi Danny.I'm in Downpatrick, but unfortunately there are precious few bands about here now. There are a few folk bands. You will have heard of Ash,Relish,The Answer etc.who all hail from these parts, but the pubs are mainly running the Kar****ke Krews ie singers with backing tracks. There is however a 4 piece band going by the name Purple Haze, who are very good(ahem).I hear the bass player is extra good!!!
  11. Problem:I swapped the pups on my Squier P5 Special for Seymour SJB5s.The originals were crap 4-pole jobs which were useless for the job.Next I picked up a LEGEND J bass off the Bay for £25,(neck was u/s).Put new neck on, and now find that the pups on the Jazz are at least twice as powerful as the Seymours, in a 1to1 comparison.I would have expected the SDs to be the better of the two,if not just in tone, but in power(ie volume) as well.Maybe I'm wrong, but I welcome any comments.
  12. Thanks for the welcome chaps. Thanks to music I'm still young at heart, altho when I see the capabilities of some of the youngsters around,I have to admit with a heavy heart that these old bones and muscles ain't what they used to be!LOL (see,I can even speaka da lingo).Slainte!
  13. If you're wondering,Norn Iron is how people from Northern Ireland pronounce their region.Anyhoo,I'm an elderly gent, been playing bass since 15,now 55 but gigging away.I'm using a Squier p5,a '76 Precision and a Frankenparts Jazz. All through a Trace Elliot 4x10,1x15 and GP11 head, which is nearly as old as I am!Into blues, some AOR,and love the Sixties!Nice to make your aquaintance. BTW it's nice to see a bass forum that doesn't alienate you just because your not from the States.
