1. Here she is guys. The little attachment on the rear of the headstock is,I believe,a pick holder Sorry for the poor quality pics. Also,I would never dream of asking anyone to put money in an envelope and send it.I was referring to Special delivery,or Registered Post.My apologies for the misleading statement.Postage would be around £12.Thanks guys.
2. Hi guys.It is with great sorrow that I must sell my lovely VM Jazz bass.It was bought on this very forum last September from the venerable Steve Soar, but now has to go.The bass is in lovely condition and has been well cared for, both by Steve and myself. It has had an Artec pre-amp fitted which gives Treble/Bass boost /cut,blend,and master volume. The bass also has a Gotoh bridge fitted as a replacement. The bass hardly gets used now and spends nearly all it's time in it's case in the wardrobe,so maybe some of you guys could make better use of it.Will come with gig bag and strap.Looking £200 ONO and I must specify now that I would require the cash to be sent AS CASH to my home,no banks or paypal I'm afraid. So there you go.Will post pics ASAP.
3. I got a BEQ700 Equalizer pedal and a V-Tone BDI21 amp modeler for sale.Both for £35 posted.(ONO).Both in as new condition,Very rarely gigged.Paypal accepted.
4. Just sold a P Bass lookalike to Frank.Very pleasant transaction.Nice bloke.Great wheels!
5. Guys,I need to sell this. It's not what it looks like ie a genuine P Bass, but it certainly would pass for one. It's in lovely nick, very clean and blemish free. The neck is unmarked and it's strung with flats, can't remember what make.Headstock has been (ahem) suitably redesignated.I'm looking £80 posted, but open to near offers. Sold pending collection.
6. That Aussie TV clip-That the first time I ever heard her speak. Why did Prisoner:Cell Block H suddenly spring to mind?
7. My grandson,Delbert.I used to sing this song years ago in a covers band and just presumed there was a bassline because Phil was playing bass on TOTP.I just never really noticed it's absence before.I still love the arrangement tho'.
8. I was just watching Guitar heroes on BBC4 and Thin Lizzy were on doing Whisky in the Jar.I couldn't make out a definite bassline.I listened again and all I could hear was guitar, drums,Hammond organ and vocals.Am I mistaken,or has anyone else noticed this.I mean Phil was there, playing a Plexiglass Dan wotsisname, but I couldn't hear any bass.Am I going mad????
9. Did anyone notice the Fender 5 string being played by Alan Price's bassist. Not many of them about.Ace Kefford's bass seemed to have a slight mod around the top bout.
10. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...y0%3D%26fvi%3D1 Yeah,I like the way he says that you can confirm the sound of the bass by looking at the pictures Clever or wot???
11. We like to do "I've been away" by the Who.It's in waltz time.Usually for when someone asks for a Who number and they're expecting 'my Generation' or suchlike. We usually do that next, just to keep them happy.
12. Also.the solid black colour on the body cutaway usually indicates a plywood body,bu I also think that the 'G' machine head doesn't quite fit.It seems to be overhanging the end of the headstock.
13.
hi, im thinking about this option, so what knobs did you use for the double layer pot??? thanks marcus
Again Marcus,Ebay came to the rescue.Look under 'Dual concentric' in 'knobs'(oo-er missus). They come in 'short' and 'tall' versions.I used the tall one.
14. I did it to my Squier VMJ.I used an ARTEC SE2A unit off Ebay.It gives you a blend control, treble and bass boost/cut,and master volume.Much better tonal range than the standard set up.You will need to route out a cut out on the back for the battery box,but thats it.8 solder connections in all,and all for around £30.Check it out.
15. Sorry. It's on SKY TV.Channel 378.Lots of live unknown bands(most of the time).
16. Today on ROCKWORLD TV,I caught no more than about 15 seconds of a black female soul vocalist being backed solely by a guy playing a Jazz bass.He was playing some nice bluesy chords and stuff, nothing too elaborate.Anybody catch it?
17. Any chance of elaborating on option 2 BOD??I'm not completely clear on that.
18.
It should be possible but without seeing how it's wired I can't be specific. Identify the wires that connect the pickup(s) to the preamp amd the preamp to the output jack. You might be able to connect these two wires to the two centre contacts of a DPDT switch - in one position they wires go to the preamp, in the other position a "jumper wire" across the contacts connects these two wires together. Check here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=32347 If you read the thread all that's missing from the photo is the "jumper wire" across the leftmost contacts on the switch.
BOD,heres the wiring diagram from the Thomann website if it's any help. It's a very straightforward procedure. 19. I've recently installed an ARTEC SE2A pre-amp unit in my Squier VMJ.I was wondering if it is possible to install a switch to enable passive or active function,in case of battery failure and suchlike. The Artec works pretty well and gives an impressive range of tones. Not bad for £20 odd IMHO
20. I've got a set of 4 Fender 'type' machines to go.Bought them off Ebay last week to go on my VMJ but turns out they're slightly too big.In reasonable nick but not perfect. They look slightly 'taller' than usual with longer 'stems'.Complete with screws and ferrules.£20 posted. 'Ave a look anyway.
