  1. Very nice collection! I'm curious how the block'n'binding neck (bottom) would work on the natural P body (top). Would love to see a pic of that combination.  I've recently developed GAS for the fat 62 precision sound and am kind of looking for a bass I can haul around.

  2. As you're going to be using your audio interface I'd not worry about an amp for now. Decent headphones or the in-ears you already own are fine.

Instead you could get a preamp like the behringer v-tone bass bddi21 to give your bass tone some flavour.

Budget for a comfortable strap and the correct cables, maybe a gig bag if you plan on taking the bass to different places (Thomann offers a package deal, not bad!)

Put the rest of your budget towards lessons, a quality audio interface if needed, or a DAW and plugins or a spare set of strings.

Most of all, enjoy and keep at it!

    From the ""Amp-less" setup" thread:

Still haven't got around to setting up the new updated and completely rearranged board, so this is how my temporary totally scrapped down pedal setup looks at the moment (signal chain is listed in the above quoted post):

Not to be disrespectful but did someone throw up over your pedals?

Thanks for the replies. I've been looking at the Beyer DT770 Pros. I like the fact that there are spares available for them (even though they're  a bit more expensive than some others mentioned).

Those AKG52s don't look bad either.

Sorry, when I say recording I mainly mean for monitoring & mixing, with the odd bit of mic recording - percussion at the moment. So yeah, closed back would obviously be good. For practicing I'll be plugging them into my Laney Digbeth preamp (when it arrives!).

The DT770 pros are excellent, widely used headphones.  Buy with confidence. The 250 Ohm are the standard unless you plan to use mainly portable devices, then get the 80 Ohm version that is a little easier to drive. The 250 sounds a bit better.

  5. Seeing this is recorded to be an advertisement for his educational course maybe consider that the signal is heavily processed at the desk (or post-production in the box). As far as I can tell there's an octaver in the signal, a direct in to the desk and a mic in front of the cab.

Just going 'ah, flats!' While stroking your chin, taking a puff on the old pipe and staring into the middle distance really doesn't do the process justice.

It's good to keep in mind that a significant portion of all research is done to exclude wild guesses for once and all.

They’re not relevant anymore, but then who IS? Who will be the next Metallica

There are a hundred new Metallicas. There were never so many bands with that quality potential. But the time that there was one Queen, one Stones, one Madonna, one Metallica etc is long gone thanks to the www.

  8. I believe I speak for my entire Department of Audiology at the university hospital I work at, we train ENT doctors, when I say that if there was even a shred of cause to look in to this, it would have been researched and be part of the curriculum by now.

Lekato wireless thingie arrived a couple of days ago (impressive speed). This is the device in question - so I have bass to GB-10 via wireless Lekato, GB-10 to headphones via wireless Lekato. There seems to be a slight loss of quality compared to just running wired but I could be wrong, and it's certainly good enough quality for practice.

Free shipping to Russia? Yeah I won't be giving them my business.

  10. These price hikes have been in the making for years now. The damage to global goods markets done by Trump and Covid can't be overstated. And as UK steps away from Europe, Russia steps forward with their land grab in the Ukraine.

So many factors to consider all putting in their bit, like dominos.

I'm watching the Blues Brothers (yet again) and cannot help but cringe at the  poor Donald Duck Dunn having to play with Murph & then Magic Tones!!!

What cringeworthy performances have you suffered!?

    S'manth x

What was so bad about Murph & the MT that was so bad for Dunn? Or was it just Jake and Elwood leaving only a few minutes in?

  12. This Trace rig has been up a while and would suit every need, rehearsal room up to festival stage backline. Saves on a compression pedal too!

What an amazing looking bass! Absolutely smitten!

ANd lastly I found a pedal for some drive flavour, even has a tuner!

I'd be well happy with this setup!
