1. Is the original hard case included?
 2.
Why are you specifically looking for a five string player? It seems an odd requirement. Like the tunes by the way, hope you find a good player
I wondered that. Does it have to be five, or would a six sting player be ok?!
 3.
I dunno. It does sound nice - it was this fact, coupled with the big fat chunky neck (and the lesser spotted Scottish summer) that made me think "ah, go on!" The pickup is more Gretsch-y than Ricky IMO - Fender's take on a TV Jones Thundertron, I presume.
I really like the look of these! Does it sound like a traditional precision?
 4.
That's a disappointment
To be fair, the neck is subjective, I guess. It was heavily glossed, and didn't feel nice to me at all. But the difference in string volume was very annoying, and whatever I tweaked, I couldn't sort it out.
 5.
I really like the look of the Italia Torino's.. Although I haven't played one
I had one of the Italia Z basses for a while. It looked fantastic, but was horrble to play. Uneven string volume, and the neck felt plain nasty.
 6.
P bass, J neck.
Exact opposite for me! I love the Jazz sound, but can't get on with the skinny neck. Best option for me is a Precision with a J pickup fitted for that Jazz growl.
 7. I owned a Stingray and a Thumb for a while. For some reason I sold the Thumb to buy a Jazz - I've regretted it ever since...
 8. It's already been discussed on a thread on ric resource FWIW: http://www.rickresource.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=409654
 9. Plus 1 for the epiphone. I would also have a look at the ibanez semis. Excellent basses for the money. I think it may have been me singing their praises on one of the other threads!

 11.
Was that one of these by any chance? http://www.gak.co.uk...rent-brown/3358 Did you get a chance to play it at all? I thought I would get more volume out of a semi, that's surprising... but then I've never even picked one up before so I wouldn't know!
No, it was one of these: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ibanez-afb200-bs-brown-sunburst/3361 I think they're completely hollow bodied, so you would actually get a bit more acoustic volume than you would get on a semi-acoustic wih a centre block (like the one in your link).
 12.
Anyone tried one?
I've not tried one, but it looks fantastic - I love those hockey stick headstocks you get on Fender 12 strings!
 13. We supported a Free Tribute band some months back, and their bassist was playing one of the Ibanez semis. It sounded fantastic, and I've had GAS for one ever since. If you're thinking of using a semi unplugged, though, you're not going to get a lot more volume than you do on a solid body.
 14.
Woah, hold up, one does not simply own up to owning an Allegro. Some debasement may be appropriate here....
I was very young and the car was very cheap
 15.
From memory, that was Harvest Gold. I hate myself for knowing this. CB
Just Googled it - you're dead right!
 16.
You do realise that if Fender had been a UK company, those colours would have been Austin Allegro Green, Morris Marina Plum, etc.
I used to own an Allegro in a colour which my wife always described as diarrhea biege. That would probably equate to vintage tweed in Fender colors.
 17.
If you want to get your head around musical theory without it seeming incredibly dull I recommend taking up keyboard as a side hobby mate. The bass is a great instrument but it isn't a visual one. When you have those keys in front of you something just clicks IMO
+1. I learnt piano before playing bass, and I still find it much easier to visualise scales, triads, chords etc by reference to a keyboard.
 18. I used to have the gb10. Importing mp3s was a bit of a faff, as i remember. I use the peavey ampkit app now, which is excellent for playing along to your iTunes library. And the amps and effects are pretty good too.
 19. I like the pickguard' although a wooden guard on an identical wooden body does seem rather pointless! The first bass I gigged was an ATK. Lovely basses, but the giant bridge does look odd.
 20.
. The line in Bobbie Jean about calling up 'not to change your mind, but just to say I miss you baby; good luck, goodbye' makes my chest tighten just typing it.
That was the exact line I immediately thought of when I read the OP. Gets me every time! In fact the whole of the last verse of that song is a great example of how lyrics can really hit you: Maybe you'll be out there on that road somewhere In some bus or train traveling along In some motel room there'll be a radio playing And you'll hear me sing this song Well if you do you'll know I'm thinking of you and all the miles in between And I'm just calling one last time not to change your mind But just to say I miss you baby, good luck goodbye, Bobby Jean Great stuff!
 21. Very nice. The Sandberg relics look fantastic in the flesh. Much more realistic than the Fender Roadworn IMO. Unfortunately I'm not in the market for one at the moment, but good luck with the sale.
 22.
I don't think you get to close Glastonbury and be the biggest uk band in America by being sh*te, but we all have our own taste. I think its easy to take a shot at a successful band, but i know they've worked hard for their success and inspire a lot of young people to pick up instruments.
I don't think they're sh*te, and they're good musicians who have undoubtedly worked hard. Good luck to them. But I do find their music very repetitive. Sorry!
 23.
... only if you accept the definiton of 'inoffensive' as being 'that which is likely to incite you to smack the perpetrator in the face with a shovel'
I was trying to be nice
