2.
Make sure you put the cable the right way round!! Just messing with you
You nearly gave me a bloody heart attack when I just read this! Nice one LOL
mmmm no reply so she has either blown up or is now enjoying the cab to her hearts content and annoying the neighbours a lot
Definitely annoying the neighbours! Mmmmmmmm, very, very nice. Everything seems to be working as it should. Wish I could really crank it up but things start to shake and rattle in the room so I'll have to wait until I can get into a bigger place to really go for it. Had a little panic to start with, had a strange "clicking" noise when I touched the strings, an electrical type of noise. As this was the loudest I had turned the amp up so far I didn't know if it was because of the additional cab or anything else. Happened on all guitars I tried (active and passive), unplugged cab, still happened. Turned gain down, it stopped. Quickly searched internet, apparently static can cause this so........... tried again, earthing myself first (I am a bugger for dragging my feet on the carpet going up and down the stairs). Clicking has stopped, even at louder volumes and with cab plugged in so worry over. Just goes to show, I really am electric when over excited!!
3. Thank You, Thank You and Thank You! Yep, Speakon is inserted and twisted in so I will now go and try!!!!
4. Hi all, please help or at least tell me I'm not about to do something stupid! Just taken delivery of my new MarkBass NY 121 cab to go with my MarkBass CMD 121P combo. Normally I would check with hubby but he is in work and I am too excited to wait. I have plugged the cab into the combo using a Neutrik speakon cable. I can't see any switches or buttons I need to press to "add" the cab but I don't want to switch on until someone can reassure me I am not about to do something stupid and blow things up!!! Sorry to sound so dim but this is the first rig / cab I have owned and don't want to mess up. Pleeeeeeease help an overly excited 40 something lady................ (yes, permission here for "interesting" remarks!) Thank You Rachel

Cello
That was a really good video! I was only going for the DB first because in the long run I think it would help me out getting gigs more than a cello would and tbh I'm less likely to quit playing DB than I am playing cello. Are any of the skills transferable though? Mainly bowing technique on both instruments?
Bowing skills, vibrato, listening / intonation skills all transferable. In some ways it is actually easier going from bass to cello because your bow arm is too strong whereas cellists I know who try playing bass haven't got the "strength" quite right to produce a nice tone. I'd agree certainly about getting a double bass for gigging, to pick up cello work (eg shows) your playing skills need to be very good on the cello but you can always take up the cello after the DB.

Cello

Yes, I started on cello a very, very long time ago then swapped to double bass. After I "retired" (shoulder problems) playing full time I then ended up teaching lower strings, so cello and double bass, for about 15 years and these days just enjoy playing cello with a little bit of teaching. I have to admit, I love playing the cello as it is such a lyrical instrument and once you get your head around the strings in 4ths and 5ths bit, it is quite easy to swap between bass and cello. Buying a cello is a lot cheaper than buying a double bass however, a half decent cello or double bass will cost a lot more than a half decent bass guitar. Even better though, go straight for an electric cello and have all the fun of effects etc. Took me a bit of practice but I became obsessed by Canon Rock (a rock arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon) last year and this was the result. Not perfect but loved doing it.
8. Thanks for all the advice guys, much appreciated. Good to know I was thinking along the correct lines and always good to be reminded of possible difficulties when buy electrical gear from abroad.
9. Mmmmmmm purple. Very nice.
10. Hiya, I am no expert but can certainly share my own recent experience. I bought a fretless neck from eyguitars (the first seller). Neck turned up a few weeks later. Overall, no problems fitting it to bass although the machine head holes were a bit tight and took a bit of work to be able to fit machine heads. The neck itself was slightly longer than original Squier neck and the side markers (remember fretless) were in the wrong place (assuming markings matched for fretted) but I have since re-marked them. So a few little issues but all sorted with a bit of work and for the price I'm happy. The neck plays fine and looks great. Having seen the second seller's auctions when I was looking, I'm fairly confident that these are the same necks as first seller (possibly bought from Hong Kong by Dutch seller) but of course with extra postage costs hence why I went with buying the neck direct myself. I did contact the third seller at the time but he had no fretless necks so that ended that avenue for me. Hope my experience helps a little.
11. Thank You I'm getting a MarkBass NY 121 cab to go with my lovely MarkBass Mini CMD 121P combo so I "don't" have to think about the OHMs and Watts etc. Waaaay over my head.
12. I am fairly sure this is a "stupid" question and one I already know the answer to but I just want to make doubly sure I am not being dim. If I were to purchase a cab from Europe there should be no voltage issues as there is no power running to it. Is this correct? Thanks
13. Friday bump with new trade ideas. Looking for a MarkBass NY 121 cab.
14. Would you be interested in splitting? I am after a MB NY121 and have a Warwick amp to trade or poss some cash? http://basschat.co.u...93#entry2031093
15. For sale or for trade - Warwick CCL ND 4 Combo Amp - Final Price Drop - £300 Having recently purchased a MarkBass Mini CMD 121p I am looking to sell or trade my Warwick CCL ND4 Combo 250watts for £300 The amp has never been gigged, in fact never left the house so basically used as a practice amp since I had it from new. It has a lovely, powerful, warm sound, just a bit big for me to carry around since I started gigging regularly again (as an "older lady"). It does have wheels, a built in extendable handle and side carry bars and is in an absolutely excellent condition with no signs of wear and tear at all. Things I would be definitely interested in as a trade would be an "interesting" colour Fender precision or indeed any P bass but am open to ideas of all kinds so let me know what you've got. I cannot post this but am will to travel for the right trade, I'm based in South Wales and anyone is welcome to come and try the amp out, you won't be disappointed. Here is the spec straight from Warwick: CCL ND 4 Stand-Alone feature loaded combo to satisfies every bass players needs. Efficient and flexible tone controls with plenty of power for medium stages. My brother-in-law got stuck travelling (delays at airport or something) because of the snow so super aunt had to step up for baby sitting duties. Believe me, bass bash was a much better option. Pete. glad you made it, Debs, I promise we will catch up soon, maybe a cuppa over Easter?
