1. As long as people are polite and friendly, I couldn't care less what offers people send me. If I don't want to sell at that price I don't have to and it only takes a second to reply "no thank you" or even to try a counter offer. I do get slightly irritated by complete time-wasters who have no intention at all of buying the thing but that's a different issue. Basically, if you put something up for sale you are opening yourself up to human contact with all its ups and downs. Some people are just not very good at dealing with other people - relax, chances are that nobody is trying to upset you
2. Depends what knob you turn. The DI will almost certainly be "before" the master volume but is probably "after" the EQ and the "gain" or other input attenuation. You need to check the detail for your particular amp.
3.
If you recognise all of this and the rest of them don't then I'm afraid you're far too good to stay there. Bands work best when the members are approaching being equals. Your band doesn't sound at all like that. As I said up the thread, you're not a million miles down the road from me being in Carluke and there are plenty of bands in this area looking for decent players.
Well... if you hear of anything I'm pushing 50 and have no ambition beyond enjoying myself and getting (hopefully) an bit better with people I get along with.
4. Did you have proof of posting from when you sent it? Surely, by definition, that should be enough.....
5. Your amp sound may change a bit as it warms up. Not sure if that's what you are hearing though.
6. I can't even quite put my finger on it. It's things like this - there's a song I start and then the rest of the band comes in. It doesn't matter how much I say, "please try to listen to the tempo I'm playing at", the drums come crashing in half as fast again. Makes me want to put the bass down and walk out. On top of that there's no enthusiasm - moan, moan, moan
7. Bottom line... I don't enjoy playing gigs anymore. I just get stressed out... which makes things even worse. Something has to give. A drummer I used to play with (great drummer but mental - even for a drummer) texted me after the gig - "sorry mate, but that's the worst I've ever heard". Depressing
8. ...to be fair, I used to be a drummer. And I was worse than all your bad drummer put together
9. I imagine she will be. Seems the type!
10.
the worst thing i found was that it sapped my confidence and made me feel like i'd developed a timing problem ! (you have a great avatar btw)
...that's exactly the one. I feel all over the place... ...and thanks, deep down I see myself as an insane German woman
11. I've been spoiled in previous bands by fabulous, confident drummers. They made my job so straightforward. I never realised
12. Yep. I've come to realise the drummer is actually the most important member of the band. If they don't play with conviction then it's a non-starter
13. This is the situation.... - took up with a new pub/covers band a year or so back. Nice bunch of guys (and girl), get on with them great, have a say and get to play stuff I like playing etc. etc. - Have only played two or three gigs in that time. To be fair, breaking a new band in the pub scene isn't as easy as it used to be - Each has been more-or-less shocking except one where we had a stand-in drummer, more anon - Our drummer is shockingly bad. A nice guy, but he can't play the drums and makes my life almost unbearable at times - The guitarist and drummer are mates and the guitarist doesn't see it or, more likely, it doesn't affect him. - We are all varying degrees of mature/sensible/proper jobs if you take my point This culminated last week in one of our rare gigs which was a complete disaster. I have to take a proportion of the blame nobody played well but deep down I know that a crap drummer is screwing me up. I was so dispondent that I was almost sticking all my gear up for sale on here and taking up knitting. Not sure how to approach this. Gigging covers/functions bands looking for a second-rate (at best) bass player don't come up very often. Nor do decent drummers.
14. Still here. Still up for grabs. Still much cheapness for what you are getting...
15. For the right deal anything is possible - speak to me
16. Another sad, pathetic bump.... I'm out of town most of next week so I may be a bit slow to respond.
17. Some interest and all PMs answered. Still available. I checked the price of a courier for these for an enquirer and it looks like being the wrong side of 50 quid. I am happy enough to ship them if required though.
18. Couple of PMs answered but still available. Happy to consider sensible punts on these cabs
19. I'm actually in Carluke, so I'm not too far from you. Make me an offer or PM me your phone number and we can discuss.
20. Another bump.... absolutely zero interest? This is in every aspect very negotiable
21. Yeh - we were recently looking for a female singer and flaky would be a good word. I blame x-factor. All we got were these maniacs who thought they were one step away from international stardom. "No love, we just want to play in pubs on a Saturday night". Luckily we got the lovely Fiona, so all sorted.
22. My memory is absolutely terrible but I'm not that bad at remembering songs. I forget them completely after a couple of months of not playing them though. Couple of things... - make sure you actually know the song in the first place. Practice until it's mindless - Getting stressed out, makes me forget my own name. If that's you then do something about it. Learn relaxation, take Kalms, get stuff from the doctors. Whatever it takes.
23. I don't think I ever curl my thumb over - I was never a guitarist I also don't practice with a strap. I just sit the thing on my knee. Is that a bad plan? It's fine for down the thin end for the last n years.
24. Even a few lessons to straighten out the basics is money very well spent. It's good for motivation too. Wait until you start playing gigs and then you'll suddenly be a cool father again!!
