  1. Sale agreed

Up for sale is a Barefaced GXii Guitar cab.

This is the original version of what is now known as the Reformer. Mine is the “American voiced” model which has an Eminence 12” speaker rather than the Celestion that was fitted to the “British Voiced” version and the current model.

I bought this new direct from Barefaced in 2019 with the intention of gigging it.

Then, for some reason I can’t quite recall, all our gigs were cancelled and this, plus a little Bugera Infinium T5, became my home practice rig.

By the time the world started to turn again I’d gone FRFR and IEMs so the cab became redundant.

It’s too good to just sit unused so up for sale it goes.

The Reformer is £599 plus delivery and a long wait - I’ve priced this to (hopefully) shift.

Condition is mint - even the Tolex covering!

I’d prefer collection or to meet somewhere but I can post within the UK for an extra £20.

  2. Update: I’ve got a reasonable PX offer for the Taylor which I’ll probably accept unless I get an offer of £1700 or better….

I’m selling my Taylor 814ce. According to the serial number it was made in September 2014 in California.

I bought it new in 2015 from Gig Gear in Harlow and have only ever used it at home.

I’ve finally realised that I just don’t play it so it sits unused in its hard case. This is a crying shame and so it should go.

Condition is immaculate. There may be a couple of scuffs on the case but otherwise it’s excellent. I have all the original paperwork, care instructions, etc and I’ll also include a set of new Elixir strings as it’s due a string change.

It’s available to try out here in Hull or PM me to arrange a meet somewhere or - if you’re not too far away - I can bring it to you. I would really prefer not to courier this if it can be helped so please PM to see what the options are.

I’m setting the price based on used prices elsewhere on the net but I’m open to sensible offers. I’m not really after trades but I’ll consider any suggestions on the off chance you have something I need.

    Any questions, please PM me.

    Thanks for looking

  3. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere - a search didn’t turn up anything

A friend is a member of a choir and they’re aiming to have one of their concerts recorded and produce a bunch of physical CDs to sell at their performances.

There are loads of companies who do CD duplication, mastering, etc but I’m guessing that a few people on BC have been down this road and can suggest companies they recommend or ones to avoid?

Quantities won’t be massive - probably an initial run of 200.

AFAIK, the music they’re recording is all out of copyright but just in case they’ve slipped in a couple of Megadeth tunes without telling anyone, does anyone know what the rules are for recording other peoples songs to CD?

I believe they’d need a PRS licence but can anyone confirm that?

    Thanks….

  4. What a great idea.

I wonder if this might help when we’re trying the cross-country bass relay to ship gear from one end of the country to the other?

    Anyway, I am added.

    Subject to approval, of course.

Which, if I’m honest with myself, I’d understand if it was withheld.

  5. I think it’s important that a band put some energy into their performance - I draw the line at Shadows-style synchronised stepping but I’m all in favour of having some movement on ‘stage’.

Having said that, I’m an inveterate shoe-starer, largely because I’m too busy trying to remember the notes. I occasionally manage a small shuffle but that’s about it.

I am aware of my hypocrisy.

I keep seeing used Summits hovering around the £1100 mark which just seems hugely tempting. I love my Bass Station II and it's left me something of a Novation fanboy.

I spent an hour or so playing with a Summit at Gear4music and really wanted to love it but, somehow, it just didn’t ‘click’ with me. It’s a great synth, beautifully made and I really like the user interface - but I just couldn’t get excited about it.

I had a quick noodle with the Polybrute while I was at G4M and it makes a great sound. It was a useful exercise because, playing with it, I realised that it’s got way more potential than I need and I didn’t really gel with the workflow. I much preferred the Summit.

I’m loving the Take 5 but I suspect that I’ll be adding a Peak to it at some point….

If I was going Roland, I think I’d go with the System 8 as that gives you an awful lot of flexibility.

Crikey SM! :shok: I didn't think you'd ever want to part with this one.

Sometimes being Lefthanded is dead cool; at other times it's a real PITA!

    GLWTS.

Thanks Lefty. It’s a bit of a wrench but I need the Godin and the Tele for gigs so this is the one that has to go. The one I’ll really struggle to let go of is the Taylor.

  8. I’ve got a decent trade-in offer which I’m likely to take unless anyone wants to jump in now and offer me more than £450?

    The Great Clearout continues.

I need to cut down on the herd so I’m selling my PRS SE Custom 24.

This is the 2019 Limited Edition in a fetching Tampas Green with a beautiful roasted maple neck. After digging around on the PRS website, I can confirm that the serial number denotes it as Korean-made, (although the fact that it says “Built by World Musical Instrument Co. Ltd, Korea” on the back of the headstock is a right giveaway).

The colour maybe wasn’t my first choice (although it has grown on me) but when I plugged it in and played it in the shop suddenly the colour didn’t matter and I just had to have it.

    Full spec is here

    https://www.dv247.com/en_GB/GBP/PRS-SE-Custom-24-Roasted-Maple-Limited-Trampas-Green/art-GIT0049341-000

Sadly, since we’ve downsized into a smaller house I just haven’t got the room and things have to go (Ric bass and a nice Taylor acoustic coming soon). I have to keep the guitars I gig with but as the PRS has only ever been used at home, it has go.

Condition is immaculate. It comes with the PRS gig bag which itself is a thing of quality.

Available to try here in Hull or I can meet up - PM for details. Post would be a last resort and within the UK only.

Some pics (forgive the frantic patterns on the soft furnishings)…

  9. Reduced: Now just £50 plus £5 postage (UK only)

I bought this little beauty in 2019 (although I notice that it’s stamped as “01/2017” on the bottom so presumably it sat on GAK’s shelves for a while until I bought it….)

I bought it as a backup for gigs but ended up not using it (y’know, pandemic and all that) and I now have other backup options so it’s just sitting in its box unused.

It’s 50w into 8ohms or 60w into 4ohms. Condition is excellent apart from some light scratches on the top (which I’ve tried to show in the pictures).

It may be digital but the sound is excellent and you have a wide range of drive available from mild “grit” to heavy distortion. It’s not Line6 levels of insane drive but it does a decent blues or rock lead nicely.

There’s an FX loop, built-in reverb and plug for a footswitch to swap between channels.

The amp is in its original packaging with power lead and paperwork.

It can be collected from me at the seaside or I can post to UK addresses for a fiver.

  10. Price Drop to £65

I'm selling my M-Audio MIDI Controller. 61 velocity sensitive keys with USB and 5-pin MIDI.

It can be powered by USB or, if you're using it with the 5-pin MIDI, by a 9v adaptor. The adaptor must be centre-positive so you can't use a standard pedal power supply - except you can because I'll include the little polarity swapper).

I bought this not very long ago when I was taking on-line piano lessons. I'm now seeing a real person and using a real piano so the M-Audio is just taking up space on my desk that I could with getting back!

Condition is excellent and I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality.

Available for collection from the seaside. I have the original box so I can post if required (that'll be an extra tenner please). It’s not the most robust box I’ve ever seen but I should be able to bubble wrap it safely.

Or - depending where you are - I may be able to drop it off on my travels. PM to discuss

Pictures…excuse the clutter on my desk

Does this bass have the original case etc?

It doesn’t, I’m afraid. I got it in the original polystyrene and cardboard packaging which are moulded to the bass itself which makes me think that it didn’t have a hard case originally.

Dan had advertised it with a gig bag but I’m not sure if it was original to the bass or just a generic gig bag - I ended up not taking it, largely because I forgot!

The accessories are all present and correct - user guide, pick-up cover, etc.

I have it in a generic hard case which is included in the sale.

  12. In the interest of full disclosure I should mention that when taking the pictures, I noticed that on the outer edge of the lower horn there is a small area where the paint is a slightly different shade. My guess is that this was caused by the early morning sun just catching that one part of the bass.

You can see the slightly lighter patch in the photo…

  13. Thanks to everyone for the interest shown in this. It’s now sold and gone to a happy new owner!

I’m selling my 1982 Fender USA Precision Bass.

It’s Olympic White with maple neck and fretboard and is in immaculate condition (see below for the reason why!).

The bass has quite an unusual history.

I bought it in 2015 from @darbiter who, when I picked it up, told me that his family used to have a music business in London and that this was a bass that his dad (or grandad, I can’t remember which) had taken to use with his band. I got the impression that this was a last-minute, need-a-bass-for-a-gig-tonight, spur-of-the-moment kind of thing. Whatever the reason, the bass didn’t do many gigs before it was put away (under a bed, apparently) and was forgotten about until they came to have a clear out, discovered it and put it up for sale.

The bass still has the original factory packaging along with the thumb rest, pickup and bridge covers (which have never been fitted). I only gigged the bass a few times before I got the Jazz which became my main gigging bass and the P was then used exclusively at home. A couple of years ago I got hold of a heavily discounted set of Fender Vintage ’63 pickups. I fitted them to see what they sounded like and ended up leaving them on the bass because they sound really good. The original pickups are included of course so the bass can easily be returned to original factory condition.

The bass weighs 10.2 lb on my digital scales, is nicely balanced and sounds phenomenal.

I did a little research when I got back home and discovered that Dan’s family, the Arbiters, were significant figures in the UK music scene throughout the sixties and seventies and, in addition to owning the Sound City music store (amongst others), designing and selling their own range of guitars, fuzzboxes and amps (and designing the drop-T logo for the Beatles), were also the official distributors for CBS Fender products from the mid-seventies.

So this is a Fullerton-era Precision bass that was the personal bass of by either Ivor or John Arbiter and which has remained unused for years until I bought it. I doubt the provenance makes any significant difference to the price but it’s part of the instrument’s history and should be recorded. It also explains why it’s in such good and original condition.

(Dan’s original advert is still on the site, along with a helpful discussion about the serial number. Sadly, the pictures no longer load - apparently there were a few which showed the date stamp inside the neck pocket which dates this to 1982). I'd rather not take the bass to bits at this stage but if serious buyers want pictures of the neck pocket and wiring harness please PM me.

As you can imagine, I’m reluctant to send this by post so would much prefer collection or a handover in person. The bass is available to try out here in leafy Lincolnshire or there’s a good chance I’ll be able to arrange to deliver/meet - please drop me a PM to discuss options.

Please note: I'm struggling to know how to value this - given the condition and originality, I've tried to pitch it at what I think is a fair price for a Fullerton-era Precision but if I'm wildly out then I'm hoping that the BC collective will be able to help me get to a more informed valuation!

  14. On hold, pending completion 😁

This is a bit of a feeler - I’m not using the Wavestate at the moment through lack of time and we’re moving soon to a smaller house so it’s time for a clear out.

(Basically, I think this just means that I won’t be broken-hearted if it doesn’t sell and I end up keeping it 😁)

    Anyway…

Up for sale is my Korg Wavestate. I bought it at the start of the year and used it quite extensively for a few months but just recently band and work commitments have meant that I’ve not had chance to use it and with our downsizing house move imminent I’m under pressure to clear things out.

There are plenty of videos on YT about the Wavestate so I won’t go into detail about what the Wavestate is. 😁

Mine has been upgraded to V2.0 and works with the new editor and librarian software. It’s in immaculate condition having lived under the decksaver (I’ve hardly used the synth itself for programming as I’ve done it via the App and my Midi controller).

I’ve got the original box and manuals including the software bundle activation codes (I used the free Skoove trial and one of the soft synths but the rest of the bundle is still available).

Its available for collection/tryout here in sunny Cleethorpes for £320 or I’ll post it (within the UK) for £330.

I’ll add some pictures later when I get chance but for now, here’s the link to the Korg website

    https://www.korg.com/uk/products/synthesizers/wavestate/

  15. I started with a Roland Gaia. They’re a bit over-priced new but used ones are better value. Nice and simple to operate, I found it a great tool for learning how to program a synth.

It’s been out forever so loads of used ones. Some look down their noses at it but as a simple but powerful first synth I think it’s hard to beat.

I’ve now moved mine on and got a Korg Krome because I wanted a decent arpeggiator and loads of presets (the Roland Juno DS and Korg Kross do a similar job) but I often wish I’d kept hold of the little Gaia for its flexibility and ease of use.
