Hi Bungie. Happy for you to use my pics and hope you sell it soon. This was mine before I swapped it for a Jaydee Supernatural series III courtesy of MB1. I swapped my Ric 4003 to get it. It has been around a bit and was originally owned by someone in the USA before it found it's way across the pond. It's a beast of a bass and very collectable. GLWTS

Pickups bought off EBay are a no go. Spoke to Dawn at Status today and she told me Rob is prepared to make me a pair of the older type 'J' pickups with the gold Status logo on the cases so the bass looks original. What a guy. They could have just told me to politely knob off but they are going the extra mile to please a customer. Can't fault them.

I swapped my Musicman Sterling Black Onyx for a Jaydee supernatural series III I play less slap bass than anything else and IMO the Jaydee is not a one trick pony. It is probably the best bass I've ever owned and I've owned a fair few in the 40 years I've been playing bass. It feels, plays and sounds like a quality instrument and I'm not surprised there is such a long waiting list for a new one.

Phenolic Fingerboard Scratches
blunderthumbs replied to blunderthumbs's topic in Repairs and Technical
3rd that. Phenolic resin should buff out with polishing compound - Ask him what he'd recommend, and don't break out the wet/dry sandpaper till you get pro advice! Oh and if you do use wire wool or sandpaper - mask off the pickups & controls! that grit or especially conductive wire can cause issues.
I won't be attacking it until I know what the outcome may be. Will email Rob some pics to see what he recommends. As for the wire wool. The neck and all other hardware & controls are removed from my Status 3000 as I'm refinishing the body. Hence wanting to sort the scratches on the fingerboard. Cheers for the advice though. -
Phenolic Fingerboard Scratches
blunderthumbs replied to blunderthumbs's topic in Repairs and Technical
Slightly off topic here but is it just me or do those frets look like they'd benefit from a recrowning (assuming there's enough metal left)?
The photos make it look worse than it is. It is not a problem. -
Need to sort these scratches on my Status Graphite neck. Was considering using 0000 grade wire wool then some Gerlitz no1 Carnauba wax. Has anyone got any advice before I possibly f..k it up and make things worse.

Hi Twigman. Thanks for the link to the Status website. I read that a few days ago. The latest Status 'J' types are different to the older ones with Status embossed in gold on them(according to Rob Green) but I'm sure the ones I have bought will be compatible with my bass. Thanks again

Have just purchased these Status pickups off Ebay. The seller stated they are Passive pickups. I bought these to replace damaged pickups on my Status 3000 which has active circuitry. I'm guessing they will be ok won't they ??? I asked which model Status they came off and he didn't know so how does he know they are passive. I thought all Status 'J' type pickups were the same ???
