I followed Bernie on facebook and in the last couple of clips that were posted, he didn`t look good. A sad loss to the music world and his family of course.  If there is some kind of after life, I hope he`s up there with his great friend Cozy Powell making a racket.

Cozy was best man at Bernie’s wedding.

Played at the Old Vaults in Faversham last night, which was a new venue for us.

It was our first gig for a month or so after a break over summer. It went very well, and hopefully we will be back there again. Someone asked us if we would play at their wedding next year! A nice compliment to get, hopefully he still feels the same when the beer has worn off.

It was my first time using IEMs as well which was a positive experience. I have just had my bass professionally set up, and that sounded great as well.

Some tensions are arising in the band around commitments to upcoming gigs. A member is experiencing grief on the domestic front so is pushing to cancel some upcoming gigs, and scale down the amount of gigs we do going forward, which the rest of us are not keen to do, especially cancelling gigs which is not cool. So will have to see how the situation pans out.

Worth discussing arranging a dep for the gigs he won’t do and going forwards finding a permanent replacement.

Its even more sad that i know who Norman Collier is.  :laugh1:

3 times in 200 gigs aint too bad to be fair. Mine was picking up a bit of hiss and i never found out why as it always worked perfect at home when i tested it after the gig. Not every gig tho but it was getting worse and maybe every 4-5 gigs i'd get something not quite right.

The Shure is expensive tho but for me its been worth it so far to have peace of mind.

    Here is your problem Dave.

Four gigs in four days. All weddings and a ton of driving involved.

Weds - (Kent) really uneventful and reserved with most people thinking about work the following day.

Thurs - (Manchester) Friendly and enthusiastic crowd. LGBTW wedding with a really cool vibe. Had a lot of fun.

Fri - (Stratford On Avon) Bride was lovely, Groom was a grade a **** who was far more interested in getting hammered with his football mates and being as obnoxious as possible. Completely ignored his new wife all night and at the end of the night had to be carried out of the venue.

Sat - (Cambridgeshire) everything that's good about being in a wedding band. Lovely couple, great food (proper wedding cake), big enthusiastic crowd and a friendly venue. Also got to meet basschatter @silverfoxnik on the way up who has been an absolute legend and is helping me get a few (rather heavy) bits to another basschatter this week.

Time to reintroduce myself to my wife and kids today and cook some nice food and enjoy some family time.

Can’t see the Stratford On Avon marriage lasting very long, the guy sounds an absolute chocolate starfish.

No, I actually had her in mind too, but in my view she's another more-pop-than-rock singer. She is awesome regardless of how we choose to pigeon-hole the band, obviously.

Definitely rock, went a bit softer in the 80’s, this is their earlier stuff, it’s certainly not pop.

There isn't much of a tradition for female-fronted rock bands. Especially in our age group (55+). I'm racking my brain. Debbie Harry? Joan Jett? Suzi Quatro? Pat Benatar? Chrissie Hynde? I'm sure some will say they are all, arguably, pop rather than rock singers. Courtney Love? Hmm. Perhaps Lita Ford, who at least was fronting a hard rock band after the Runaways, but she's not as famous as the others. And even I can't remember the name of the frontwoman in Vixen*, and I was a fan! There are very few, and relatively unsuccessful, female hard rock and rock bands women my age may have wanted to emulate when we were younger.

How about younger potential female rock vocalists? Well, does anyone under the age of 30 like rock or hard rock nowadays?

    * Janet Gardner - thank you Uncle Google.

You have missed probably one of the best - Ann Wilson of Heart.

  7. That’s a coincidence, I was learning to play Billy Jean earlier in the week just for a bit of fun.

This guy explains it really well and definitely hit on about a synth playing the added octave.

I like the version two starting on the second fret of the E string, that’s the version I learnt, it’s a pig of a song due to the repetitive nature of it, you cannot afford to fall out of time, otherwise it falls apart.

  8. Seasoned professional musicians with Elton, Davy, Nigel and Ray have been playing live and recording with him from the start almost.

You put guys of this calibre on stage and you are rewarded with the performance we witnessed tonight. 👍
