1. wow , that is a pretty bass , I love sea foam too and the pearl finish on this is awesome, it's a real beauty
2. This is a cool thread I love the alan holdsworth, tribal tech and ohm stuff. I have a heavy weather by weather report
3. yeah Im chuffed to bits with it, although the headstock is massive compared to my Aria, a lot of tone is in the headstock though according to yngwie, thats why he has the big 70s headstocks on his strats, more wood more tone.
4. some quick photos off my phone, will do some fancy ones another time, I,ll see if I can put some of the endorsee pics on here too. The gold dome knobs arrived today, gold with white pearl tops, will get a matching white pearl scratch plate and probably a gold custom neck plate.
5. Mine is my new baby hehe my other is the aria slb2 I gotta have a pointy headstock as well you see. Is The bass doc still doing stuff to order? should I message him about making me a scratchplate? cheers...paul
6. Haha yeah MIT such a breeding ground for amazing minds, unfortunately mine is not one such an amazing place though I have seen tech stuff emerge from there over the years, a playground for geniuses. i like the section in steven levys book hackers about it and the model railway club. Im guessing a lot of stuff there is military and corporation funded bet they are working on all sorts of stuff. cheers...paul
7. Hi I just bought a vintage v4mvw it,s real nice vintage white with maple neck/fb the neck is real nice that sort of dark vintage honey stain maple the wilkinson hardware all looks real good, bridge is nice has brass saddles, Im really pleased with it, sorry no pics yet but will post some soon, it has a black scratchplate on it at the moment which the original owner put on but I have the white one that came with it too, I am hoping to get bass doc on here to make me a white pearl one as he made the black one tha now graces it apparently, I also have some gold dome control knobs with white pearl tops coming for it too and a gold string tree. The previous owner roadworn the body with sandpaper which looks very pleasing I like the roadworn body look but like the hardware to be nice. I was so pleased with it anyway I had to post on here about it so thanks for listening. BTW it is the same model as is endorsed by steve dawson of Saxon so I have been playing along with a few saxon tunes, I could recommend one to anyone who wants a precision style bass that is good quality at a low price. I will try and put a pic up another day. cheers...paul ps it only cost me £86 + postage im a very happy bunny
8. commodore 64 + Bass Plus pretty girl plus amazing inventiveness = win win win win this is the most coolest thing i have seen for ages, she must go to MIT or something what a genius. What an amazinggly gifted babe....sighhhhhhhh
9. Wow Glider , that's a really helpful review, it has helped me a lot I currently just use a practice amp for jamming at home but am hoping to buy something before or after christmas with enough power to be able to jam with others playing 80s claasic rock and hair metal. Im thinking the HB or the redsub would be just the thing, now after your review the HB is looking to be a real winner ,im mighty interested in their speaker cabinets too im assuming you could plug the (bb210t) 2 x 10 cab in and get the full 500 w Thanks anyway for posting about the amp it was a good read, cheers....Paul
10. Just discovered this thread am amazed at the reports on these little amps The HB 2 x 10s look like they would make awesome ext cabinets for the redsub and the hb 500. I had been looking at small amps like the ampeg and ashdown mini stacks but at 100w they were not really useful enough, these HB and redsubs sound almost to good to be true, I seem to recall that the promethius by ibanez which they are modeled on had some sort of family tie to the little mark amp too so the family pedigree is quite intriguing. They are definitely going on my list of possibles for when I need an amp for jamming with others as opposed to practising. so glad I found the thread
11. I like mixing root 5th octave with minor 3rd and minor 5th for diminished metal type sounds
12.
Yep that's exactly where I got it. Doesn't it depend on how you're sitting?
I get right shoulder pain especially when sitting down! especially if Im playing something I find tricky I think i get tense
13. Wow that is good, I,ll not be buying mine yet though as have to sell stuff and save etc plus am way down in devon it does seem the ideal rig though in size and power terms, what would be a good low cost cabinet to go with it. Thanks for the link anyway it was interesting to see. cheers....paul
14.
So this year I've been practicing on keeping my technique at the same level, whilst lowering my strap gradually... Does anyone else care this much about how they look? In the last few months I've gone from this To this Am I cool or what??
ccol mine is more the forst picture height my pickups are in line with my bellybutton
15. Im new here too hope you enjoy it,it's pretty cool, have a good day
16. thanks , that is really useful info gaffbass, just what I needed to know about its performance in that type o setting, cheers, the orange tiny terror sounds more suitable is there anything similar to that at a cheaper price
17. will it keep up with a drummer jamming in a rock band? Im gonna have to get an amp for jamming with people in the near future and all the amps I like that I can afford are all low power, the micro stack ashdowns and ampegs are great lookin but at 100w are a trifle underpowered . this one is the nearest to a lightweight at a reasonable price for the less well off. probably best bet is to try snag something second hand once i clear out some stuff on ebay
18.
On the subjects of bikes mine is aSV650. At a recent BMAD night I managed to get our card & name to who books the bands for the BMAD festival, so fingers crossed we will play at next years!
Awesome it would be great to have a Basschat member gigging at the festival, im surprised valvestate have not played there for a while, I liked that band winter in eden that played at the 2011 2010 ones, they were as good as evanescence, I liked it when they had 24 carat purple too, the zz tops at the last 2 have been great. I usually go and see diamond dogs when they are on at the spinney, crossfire and rockology are awesome too. catch you later gonna watch some tele now, ive not played cradle will rock by van halen for a while and ive been trying to play through it without making a mistake and the later it gets the mre i make hehe. cheers...paul
19. we had an amazing few weeks in late feb/march btw.
20. ok on the weather Daz, it used to be great weather, the last reasonable summer I can tink of was 2006 then the early 2000s were quite good and before then. since 2006-07 it seems to have gone to a mono climate where it is grey dull and wet most of the time
21. Thanks guys for your welcome, look forward to seeing you in the forums and maybe around town to the local ones....I won an ebay auction for that vintage V4 its the reissue one with a maple fingerboard/neck, the guy who i bought it off got a scratchplate for it off here made by the bass doc, steve dawson plays the same bass out of oliver/dawson saxon so Ive been playing along with a couple of saxon songs in anticipation of its arrival next week, have had a bit of a bad right shoulder recently I think I am tense when I am practising maybe. have a great week all...cheers...paul
22.
i have no hair to speak of but edit - is it still raining down there?
yes its pissin down, smmer was a wash out this year and the last two ro three were barely better
23.
Hi Paul, Welcome to BC. I'm not so keen on the newer heavy bands but love Deep Purple, Black Sabbath etc. & was in a lot of hard/heavy rock bands in my youth - I play in a blues band now though. I haven't been to Torquay for a few years but used to visit two or three weekends & summer holidays each year (used to stay in Warren Road - why is it infamous?). I love the place - used to go to see the bands on Friday nights in the Cider Press - is that still open? Anyway enjoy BC, there are some really helpful people on here.
yes cider press still there....cheers
24.
Welcome from just down the road in Paignton. Warren road is where most of the drug dealers in the bay operate from, or used to as it may have been cleaned up by now. Cider press is still there, as is the Piazza next door, though it's called something else now. I once saw the Australian Pink Floyd there before they started moving onto bigger venues.
cool I like paignton, used to go to bmad on wednesdays til I wrecked the bike, when i occasionally go out for a night one of my fave places is the spinney, can sometimes be found in rooses cafe on a sunday too. cheers....paul
25.
Welcome Paul, There are loads of us from devon !! its great
wow yeah , Im surprise how many are on here
