3.
Sorry. That should have been are you sure a spalted board is a good idea for a neck. Spalt wood is not really known for being structural sound.
Totally agee - but this spalted is very hard, no noticable difference between this and the heartwood which is why I used it. Tapping the timber sounds identical and it's just as hard to chisel and shape. It's not heavily spalted so the rots not too far set in. I've set aside the more heavily spalted pieces from the tree for tops
 4.
Hi Are you a spalted board is a good idea for a neck.
Thanks - it looks good and a bit different which is always good..... I kinda fancy exploring the fretboard timbers a bit, it's finding wierd pieces hard enough not to zap tone and sustain. I've got some Jarrah burr that might make a stunning fretboard but would take some 'creative' filling as it's a bit knarly. I've been on the look out for something with a long straight crotch grain - let me know if you see anything like that (that you dont want) I've got this but the flame is too wide and not straight enough to look good on a fretboard
 5. That burr is stunning (so's the walnut) I love burrs - everytime you look at it you see something new and that piece is great!! Looking forward to seeing finished closeups of that wood.
 6. Made a start on the next one, only roughly shaped, will be a bit more rounded. Body is crotch walnut with a little bit of flame, very crazy grain flow to this Top is two-tone Rio Rosewood Set neck is from same stock as the top, nice spalting. Fretboard is just the top cut off the neck so matches perfectly.
 7. Thanks to the extra day's holiday I got it pretty much completed Any custom build undertaken for sensible money Hope you like it.....
 8.
I bet that sounds fantastic
It does - very clear and precise. Delano stuff is so so good, having a true passive tone control adds alot of versatility to the sound, perfect match to the status neck.

 15.
Used condition. The inside's lovely - clean, fresh (no weird smells!) The outside's got a few scuffs/marks/tears, but nothing too bad. It'll look better than it does in the pics for the buyer, as I'll stick the tolex down where it's damaged and give it a clean. Got to be a bargain for £20 collected from LE67
Hey - I'll have it. I'll PM you in a bit Ta Dave

 17. Meetup with Nick to collect some caps today- Great guy, Thanks for popping out of work to meet up Dave
 18. I fitted these (paper/oil 47s) this afternoon in my thinline passive jazz and they REALLY make a difference. 1st tried it through a practice amp where I couldnt hear a change by fired up my SWR and the difference is very noticable - rolling off the tone the sound is certainly more warm by more defined useable warmth, if that makes any sense - I find it hard to explain tones. Cheapest way to make your bass sound sweeter Thanks Nick
 19.
love the tele shape, keep us updated
Thanks all - I've been so busy with work.... not enough time to get much done lately.... Necks all done, It does look good now, it was still very rough when pix were taken. Bit of sanding here and there then spray. Should be done just after easter hols.

 23. The thinline tele is coming along so I thought I'd put up some pix for your entertainment.... It's only roughly shaped so dont judge the outline or finish yet....you can do that in a couple of weeks when she's ready to go. The lacewood dark flames come up real nice and dark when finished which looks stunning and very different.
