1. I got 2 x cables made up by Pete. Very high qualtiy construction and real good price. Certainly going to get some more and recommend to others I know Dave
 2. They are carbon rods, the silver tape is just to stop any dust getting in trussrod during the build Dave
 3. Hey - thanks for all the comments.... Well I had Friday off work and got a bit done Neck roughly shaped Zebrano fretboard added, headstock shaped, neck glued into body. Starting to look like a bass!!! 4. 1000 watts is twice as 100 watts ( 100 watt amp produces so much perceved volume 2 100 watt amps 2 lots of the same amount of volume (ie twice as much) therefore 2 100 watts amps produce the same volume as a 1000 watt amp therefor 2 100 watt amps are louder than one 900watt amp
 5. Ok I dont think this will work for you as it really only works with square tops. It only gains a little bit but does work if the top is just a bit too short and you dont wanna compromise on the body shape. It also only really works on more symetrical rear basses such as P's not the jazz as shown below as the lower rear bit sticks out more than the top rear bit on a jazz. This (stunning sei) looks good and the top ends up being smaller than the body by quite a bit by using a thin top and heavily rounded sides
 6. I see - I've had similar problem, I'll try and sketch out tomorrow what I did, might not work for you
 7. how big is it?
 8. NO - just give it to me.....
 9. hoochie coochie mamma, i thought porn was banned on here.... But it looks more like bob marley than jesus in my eyes
 10. I like the one piece spalted body, The colours of the spalting will pop out great with a finish - looking forward to seeing it I played a one piece very heavily spalted beech jazz bass a few years back and couldnt hear any difference to an ash body jazz.
 11.
Cheers lettsguitars, much appreciated. I'm not familier with the term 'sticker' what does that mean exactly?
Sticker is just little bits of wood between pieces of timber to be dried, allows air to pass round as much of the timber's surface to get equal drying and less cupping
 12.
That neck! What a lovely piece of wood!
It is - it came from tyler hardwoods in Marlborough, they have some stunning planks for not much cash. Highly recommended (just in case anyone was looking for very good cheap timber)
 13.
Don't wanna be a dick or anything, but that top would ruin that bass for me. The olive is beautiful. I'd much rather buy it with just the olive and a clear pickguard. Maybe use the bubinga top for another bass that isn't quite so busy? Of course I'm sure it'll look lovely whatever you decided to do, but IMO the bubinga's a little too much! Truckstop
I understand - the olive ash is stunning, but when it was bookmatched only one side looks right - due to the thickness and the crazy colour patterns the grain changes massively through to the other side, the 'top' side doesnt look good so needs something covering it. It wouldn't look right otherwise, I'll take photos to show what I meen soon Ta for the comments Dave
 14. Started on another one this weekend, been playing a P bass type thing but wanted something a bit more verstile so going for a Delano Hybrid and a jazz in the neck. I love the delano hybrid, great active musicman style but with a std passive jazz built into the same housing, adding a jazz in the neck gives me active musicman and fully passive jazz in one.... It's gonna be rippled olive ash body with figured bubinga top, maple neck with zebrano fretboard Got quite a bit on right now so progress might be slow but I wanna crack on with this one... 15.
Excuse my ignorance, I havent researched pup design much so the answer to this might be obvious??

If you've got 2 pickups from 2 different manufactures with the same size and type of magnets and the same gauge scatterwound wire leading to the same resistance - are they going to sound different??? If so why dont we all just make our own??

I recently nearly got some pups on ebay from spain, cant remember the name but they were handwound alnico V etc etc and half the price of Nordstrands. I do go with expensive pups but thats cause I havent spent enough time with some of the cheaper aftermarket alternatives.

Dave
16. The one that goes under the strings, works well..
