Just permanently deleted my Facebook account. It had become pretty much an ads only platform and was of little value to me anymore. So far this feels like a relief.

Good move IMO - suits some, not all. Something to look forward to is a nice chat with friends & family next time you can see them. At some point they remember you're not on Facebook any more and then you have a lovely natter. I parked my account in a fake diva strop 5 years ago and have never looked back, only use it for customer stuff and even then it's twice a year when they're stuck.

I deleted my FB page five years ago and haven't missed it one bit. Sounds like nothing has changed! I originally quit because FB tried to force you to pay for ads to help promote your band page and events. What a lot of people don't know is that even if you follow a band page and they post something, only a certain percentage of the followers will see that post. Purchasing ads was FBs response to this so that all your followers could see the posts...

Well done. Yep i deleted mine about four year ago now. My real friends remain in touch with me, the others don't bother. I don't miss it in the slightest, and i loved the extra headspace i suddenly got from not having to check updates or respond to anything.
A very minor middle-finger in the context of mega social media corporations, but a huge victory for my personal wellbeing.
