1.
Im surprised no one recognises her from the Bass Cellar on Denmark St, She worked their for years. I got a couple of basses off her.
Bought my 1st amp off her a few years ago.......a 2007 Markbass CMD 121h (which might be up for sale if anyone's interested ;-)
 2.
In my opinion...no.
Well unfortunately by the time J Lo came on with her Time Crisis/ Street Fighter set, everything was stush and clear as a bell, maybe because most of the backing might've been on DAT? She did have a couple of live musicians on stage but didn't stick around to hear if it was comin through
 3.
I remember free summer concerts in Hyde Park back in the 1970's with Queen , Steve Hillage ect , and the P.A was perfectly adequate . Now it's ( allegedly ) 2013 , it's a prestige gig and they are charging big money for tickets . Sounds like a complete bollocks up all round . They ought to give refunds .
+1 to this. That's what I meant about the UK's reputation with artists being damaged by f**kups like yesterday. I can't claim to be around when the legendary gigs were on, but the heritage is there.....not sure where its being continued today tho
 4.
Ever since I moved to the UK (almost 6 years ago) the sound have been absolute crap on at least 80% of the gigs I've been to. Doesn't matter if it's the O2 or Shepherd's Bush Empire, or some smaller venue. I think the only occasion I can recall where the sound was killer was at a Bootsy Collins gig at the Indigo O2 a couple of years ago. One of the best live sounds I ever heard in my life, specially with so many people on stage. TM Stevens had problems with his rig, but that didn't compromise the show at all to be honest. Three bass players on stage in total, haha! Festivals? The only way I will ever be at a Festival is if get paid to do so.
Was at that Bootsy gig n'all and agree the sound was great, watching Bernie W play was the highlight for me. And I also share the mantra that I'm only going to a festival if I'm playin, just waiting for that call.. I don't really count Hyde Park (or anything like that in London) a festival really, just very large corporate gigs
 5.
I saw them at Glynde a couple of weeks ago. It was a baking hot day, I was maybe 5 or 6 rows off the front. The sound was, stella, unreal, awesome, perfect even, a perfect match fo rthe band. Well chuffed to have been able to see them when the crew and the kit was all working like one beautiffuly well oiled machine. Cant believe the stories of Hyde Park, how rubbish is that, I'd have demanded my money back....
I've been lucky enough to catch Chic a few times now but because I'm such a big shot in the music industry ;-) I got some comps so won't be asking for a refund, but I'm definitely going to make a complaint.
 6.
Yeah Niles drummer is as sick as chips. Truckstop
Oh most def, do you know his name?
 7.
Does not sound good...there will be major post mortems and witch hunts over this behind the scenes. A shame for the concert goers..!!! Not sure what excuses you can have for a gig of that magnitude...
I hope so, for all the punters to be let down by that at such a big gig. Took my dad who was BIG into disco back in the day and had never seen him before. Bit of an anti climax to put it very lightly Once they got it sorted it was f**king good tho, Simon Le Bon Bon came on for Notorious and thought King Jarret was gonna come on for Let's Dance - but the vox were covered by their drummer who was grooving HARD, best tune of the set for me.
 8.
The overheating thing doesn't add up to me. Sure, it was a hot day . . . . for the UK, but gigs like this are put on in hotter places aren't they? Just another reason I'm happy not to go to these 'festivals' any more.
That's exactly what I thought?? How can they put on gigs in the f**king desert, but not the UK??
 9.
All the PA amps? And no back-ups? Unbelievable... and unforgivable!
Yep - no sound except what was on stage. Watch the YouTube clip and hear Rogers heartbreak
 10. Went to see Nile at the Barclaycard Hyde Park last night and it was an absolute shambles..... NOT Nile and the band of course, but the event organisers and engineers. From the moment the band started there were problems...couldn't hear Nile's guitar at all!!!!! Things went down hill from there, sound mix washing all over the show until eventually during a song the sound cut out all together and no announcement from the organisers as to what was going on at all. No sound for about 20 minutes. Nile's mic started working again and the cowardly organisers left it up to him announce that the amps had over heated - not the stage amps.....the bloody P.A. Amps??!!? I know it was a hot day, but they had known it was going to be for ages (at least a week) and there really is no exuse what so ever. I don't care what your experience is on gig of that magnitude, that shouldv'e NEVER have happened. I was just left embaressed wondering what the f***k he must be thinking. I went to see Paul Simon last year and the sound was just awful, barely audible, the Springsteen/McCartny fiasco, now this What must all these artists think of the UK's professionalism?? It goes on..... Somehow Nile's guitar started coming through the P.A. for the opening riff of "Thinkin' of you" and the crowd erupted, I thought for a sec we were going to be treated to a guitar and accapella version for second, but the band started........no drums, bass, horns, keys nothing except guitar. EVENTUALY it got sorted and the band played on. What was really great was how well the Nile and the band took it, was a real lesson in showmanship. Here's a clip someone posted on YouTube of Nile talking to the crowd http://t.co/kqIrKXqThw What was EVEN worse was when J Lo's awful hyper sh*t - in yo face - video game music started up, it was so loud and clear you couldn't escape it!?! Sound problems went on, hampering the crown Prince of Heart FM Mr Lionel Richie's set too. To the organisers and engineers, you should give up the day job, leaves on the line doesn't cover it and I hope someone's head rolls for yesterday's shambles. Just be grateful it didn't happen whist Reg Dwight was playing, he would have probably had your balls in his purse for all eternity.
 11. Posted some of their vids a few months ago but think he deserves another mention. Joe Dart - Vulfpeck Just think its good music done with good humor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQRV0c1KXYc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npqD602G90o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yesuSizNW-8
 12. Not wanting to be the hippy of the bunch, but why not have both at your disposal f there's a gig that someone has asked me to do and I want to do it, I'd rather not be held back by equipment and there are times (like last night) when it's easier to DI. Time constraints, travel - living in central london can be a nightmare if someone askes you to play at short notice and you haven't got time to worry about parking, traffic ect.. But if you have the time and you care enough, go through your amp. I think it looks f*****g weird watching a band with no amps, and sheeeeeeeeeit, if people are paying to see you why not put a bit of extra effort it? It's not Guitar Hero..

 15.
Can't believe this is still here. Few (if any) cabs are better than Barefaced.
It's true. Only reason I didn't take it was the fear I might have to switch up my whole Markbass rig if I bought this. The clarity is brilliant, size and weight makes it extremely handy.
 16. Dunno exactly how much, but it was bare-loud when I tried it bruv.
 17. “If Morrissey says not to eat meat, then I’ll eat meat — that’s how much I hate Morrissey.” Brilliant. (And I like the Smiths)
 18.
The impression I'm getting from this thread is that our membership is clearly divided into those who consider this site as a community, and don't mind giving their time and/or money just as a thank you for being part of it, and those who look at the forum mostly from the utilitarian point of view of shifting gear at the best possible price and don't seem to assign that much value to pure "bass chat", banter, advice, etc. The latter group is clearly a bit miffed at the newly introduced fees. Basschat's owners, admins and mods are having to deal with two forces pulling in roughly opposite directions, and that can't be easy if, as they're doing at present, they try to keep both of them more or less satisfied.
Init... Really sad to see this situation on BC. Not sure if everyone is suffering from withdrawal from the Rick ban thread or something, but this kinda thing is putting me off this site. I can't claim to have been on here in the good ole days but I think £20 for the year if you sell stuff regularly seems pretty good, if you don't like it stick on the bay or in a shop where they'll either give you a sh*t price or take a commission?? Perhaps the one off fee could come down to a Lady (Gadiver-fiver) but there IS a recession on and it only seems to be biting people hard (I for one) now. You don't HAVE to post it up here, you DO have a choice, I don't think moaning on about is really worth it........is it?
 19.
he's just simply as good as it can... not a big fan of his fretted work.... frettless work is simply total genius!! cheers
I agree with the first sentence.....but the 2nd is the total opposite :-) Not a fan of his fretless (but a big fan of Partridges) and how he re-invented himself into a totally different player does my head in. The man has a style which stands totally independent of nearly everyone.
 20. Think it sounds alright and it's a good idea...it's just fugly.
 21. Oh right you're colouring the cone yellow?....well that's different then.....PM on its way mate
