  1. I guess the problem is as a buyer it makes complete sense to use PayPal and pay as goods, adding on the extra for the charges, but I'm assuming the seller then worries that the buyer can claw their money back through PayPal by saying the goods are faulty or damaged. If distance selling and buying are the only way then I suppose you just have put a degree of trust in each other and bite the bullet. Or walk away. As sad as it is, I've kind of resigned myself to only spending what I can afford to lose and hope that the ratio of good to bad deals keeps me in the black.
  2. And totally justified if you ask me. πŸ‘
  3. I understand that some might feel you don't trust them, but the fact is they're a stranger and you have no reason to trust them, or to not trust them. If trust, or lack of, is nothing to be wary of then ask them to send the item first, and once it's arrived safe and sound you'll send the payment. I'll wager trust will suddenly be an issue.
  4. Address sent. πŸ‘
  5. No need to apologise @BigRedX, work is work and I wouldn't expect anyone to lose out while doing a favour. Thanks anyway. πŸ™‚πŸ‘ @Dad3353 , 50mm per the picture you posted will be absolutely fine. It's hard to tell without actually laying the badge on there but any smaller and I'd guess it'll start to look a bit too weeny. 50mm it is, and thank you too. πŸ‘
  6. 2.9% + Β£0.30p per transaction. Very little for some peace of mind

The piezo will probably be fine, they respond better to high pressure. One of the issues with rubber strings can be the lack of pressure on the piezo element. Have you used the B to G, or gone for the F# to D for increased tension?
  10. Woah woah woah, hang on a minute. We can't have a thread on here started and resolved that quick without some political brexit chat. πŸ˜‰

  12. @Dad3353, that looks fantastic. πŸ™‚πŸ‘ Let me have a quick measure tomorrow. I reckon 50mm will be about right, but I'll pop a G string on tomorrow (pack it in 😯) and check clearance, as the face plate I've made is slightly smaller than the headstock perimeter and thicker than the standard veneer. Also just plain white will be great, but thanks for the offer to paint. 😊

  14. The 12 after the name in his email address is ringing big alarm bells, bells probably housed in a stone tower built by a Mason.
  15. A very little mentioned string which I really like is the Fender 9120 nylon tapewound. They feel and sound quite different from a regularlar tapewound, very roundwound in feel and very bright.
  16. And if you tell that to the young people today, they won't believe you! I was going to mention, but everyone beat me to it, that until all this Covid lark, we got a new drummer. He has a rehearsal space with an old Peavey combo with BW15 which I used, and instantly thought cor that sounds good. I used to have a Peavey combo with BW15 which I used for years. Maybe a lot of us like the black widow as it's like coming home, seeing as it seems a great deal of used one before we all went and bought 'better' amps. I used to take the front seat of my Mini out and sit the Peavey on the floor, with loads of other gear on the back seat, my bass would sit on top of the amp in a hard case with the back end resting on the rear shelf. I came round a corner in the lanes, met another car and had to brake pretty sharpish. As I skidded towards the other car, the hardcase shot forwards and pushed the screen out, slid down the bonnet and onto the road. I got out and put the screen and bass in the back of the mini, reversed into a space to let the bewildered driver through and carried on to the gig sans screen. Ahh to be a young d!ckhead again. πŸ™‚
  17. 'kin 'ell it's Fred Titmus. πŸ˜„ What a band.
  18. Maybe a lucky escape then. πŸ‘
  19. I was assuming the threaded inserts in the body had had coach bolts or similar screwed into them, or a plastic plug or something. That's why I didn't want to go to high as there's a lot of unknowns with it.
  20. 14:25 to Bair-ming-gham? It just hasn't got the same ring.
  21. It probably was a bargain, but it's in a bit of a state. I like them like this though as there's no need to feel too guilty replacing the parts with better ones as they're missing in the first place. I thought stripped and oiled or waxed natural, a Babicz three point bridge, try and find that tuber, maybe a replacement scratchplate if it won't polish up and a damn good clean, then it would be lovely.
  22. I put the Β£156 bid in a couple of seconds before it ended. Didn't really want to pay that much but it was only on Β£107 at the time. Β£120-130 would've been nice to make it around Β£150 with postage. Got outbid but was almost relieved. πŸ™‚
  23. Whilst I totally agree with this, it just goes to show what a 'set in our ways' bunch we really are, that a design that was most popular nearly four decades ago is considered too modern.
  24. Flyers Me To The Moon - Frank Sinatra Edit - I don't know why it's come out as 'flyers', but I can't change it now or it'll create a ripple in time/space continuum causing who knows what mayhem further into the thread.
