  1. The machine heads look to be the best bit of hardware on mine 😁, but thanks anyway. 👍 Manky bridge and missing tone pot, but I've got some spares kicking about. I don't really know what I'm going to do with it yet. The neck wood looks to have some nice grain in the pictures, so that's something. What was your body wood like when you striped it?
  2. Sometimes it just has to be done. I had to go and measure up for something in the garden today. Before ordering online I thought I'd quickly check the Facebook selling pages to see if anything suitable for my garden needs was being offered. It was, although I'm sure a Crafter Cruiser P bass for £20 wasn't what I was after. I pick it up tomorrow on the way home from work. 😄
  3. Up The Junction - Squeeze
  4. My Ding-A-Ling - Chuck Berry
  5. If the board was rosewood with aged white pearl blocks, then I'd say aged pearl scratchplates. But it isn't so I've voted black as well. It's what I put on my sunburst P and J.
  6. Helter Skelter - Siouxsie and the Banshees (some scouse band may of covered it).
  7. No volute and no scarf joint, that I can see, on my JC. The problem as I understand it is that Gibson/Epiphone necks are made from mahogany, which is relatively hard and has very short grain/fibres, making it quite a brittle wood. I'm not worried now anyway as I've got the hardcase.
  8. A13 Trunk Road to the Sea - Billy Bragg
  9. Hellhound On My Trail - Robert Johnson

    12+4 =?

Classic Chickenbacker. You won't need to worry about tuning sixteen strings for very long. The twelve string neck tenon will give out after a couple of months, leaving you with a very heavy four string bass. If you're lucky both necks will fold up and then you'll have absolutely guilt tossing it on the fire. 😉
  11. I'm going to spoil everyone’s JC for them, because once seen it can't be unseen. Have a look at the headstock and ask yourself who 'Slack Casady' is? 😉
  12. Thanks for that, I'm just going to set it up so I've got the least leverage on the rear fixings and forget about it. The case is very nice I must say, nicely contoured padding to hold the body in place, not just flat bottomed, and not overly bulky.
  13. Broken Stones - Paul Weller
  14. Burn It Up - The Beatmasters ft. PP Arnold
  15. There's A Ghost In My House - R. Dean Taylor
  16. Thanks for the reply @neepheid, apologies for not acknowledging. The headstock break remark by myself was a bit tongue in cheek. I needed a case or bag for it anyway so have got the proper hardcase, it arrived this morning and is nice so I'm happy enough with that. 🙂 Re the bridge, I'd kind of factored in getting a Babicz for it but if the standard one is fine then why bother? I am a heavy handed player, always have been so no point trying to change how I play to suit one bass, but if the fixings aren't up to my style then I'd rather address it now properly, rather than have a messy repair to deal with if they pull out unannounced. I have set the bridge up so as the strings have the least leverage possible on the rear fixings. I'll just see how things go. I wish we were out gigging so I could give it a proper test, playing at home doesn't generate the same enthusiastic playing that playing live does.
  17. Dance?
  18. Girl From Mars - Ash
  19. Up Around The Bend - Hanoi Rocks I know it was CCR but I prefer the HR cover.
  20. It's My Party - Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin Musical chairs, you've moved my chair, I'll cry if I want to.
  21. I don't have a Verythin but I've a Club and a 185, both have super skinny necks compared to a JC, which I've just picked up. Whether a Verythin is the same I don't know, but the difference between my JC and my Hofners is big enough that you might want to look at your physical preferences as well as sound. That said I really cannot fault the JC I've just received, absolutely stunning in every respect, well worth the money.
  22. The Song Remains Insane - Soulfly
  23. If @silentbobdoesn't have the Mono I'll take it. 🙂👍
  24. I've just gone mad and bought the Epiphone JC one. I don't normally like hardcases due to their bulk but I'm planning on the JC being one of my main gigging basses so it's going to need some protection, and frankly I'm a bit worried about the standard Gibson headstock break to use a gigbag, just incase it gets squished. How big a problem are the bridge inserts pulling out? I like high tension strings and this will probably get my usual D'addario half rounds for gigging, and I'm not a light fingered, string tickler either. Is it worth (carefully) pulling the inserts out and glueing them in? I'd rather remove them carefully and intentionally rather than by surprise mid gig. Or are the inserts pulling out just the stuff of Internet hearsay? I've also ordered some Diago straplocks as it seems fairly easy to pull the strap off the neck heel button, especially once animated on stage. I could just use a rubber washer but I quite like the big flat head of these as I wear expensive suits in the Mod band so they shouldn't rub too much. We'll see.
  25. 😁 The weight of a Rick and the width of that strap worries me.
