I had a Stealth 4 string & sold it quite quickly, there was a harshness in the mid-range that I just couldn't e.q. out. It came to dominate everything to my ears. I subsequently bought a Streamline & that thing killed from day one, in fact I would say it is the best Status model I've played. Stupidly sold it to Outtoplayjazz of this parish & have regretted it ever since.
4. A black scratch plate taken from my Nate Mendel P bass. Not a lot to say really, it's been given the "worn look" by Fender so it has lots of swirls on it, nice if you're putting it on an older P. £25 shipped in the UK.
5. Freshly excised from my Nate Mendel P bass is a Seymour Duncan SPB3 pick up. It's big, it's ballsy, it's........er.....something else beginning with "b". Think old school P tone, had P tone been doing a LOT of steroids - it's not a modern sounding pickup, it's a classic rocker's delight. Includes covers but no screws or springs. £35 posted anywhere in the UK.
6. Now my Dingwall has sold I am withdrawing this until my Status is built, I will probably relist this near the end of October.
7. It is still active only. I would imagine a simple toggle or push-pull to by-bass the EQ should be all that is required, but the Glock is so transparent that even I like it. And I hate active EQ.
8. Bump. Will offer the bass without the original plate & pick up for £600.
9. Right, after a lot of correspondence I have persuaded the nice people at Status to break a few rules & build me something they haven't done before. Trouble is it is going to cost, a lot. I could wack on a load of debt but that makes me nervous, so I need to sell on this wonderful Dingwall that I got from Neil Murray a couple of weeks back. It is a magnificent instrument, I love it but I just can't afford to do the Status & keep my current squeezes. The bass is as Neil described it, save for the addition of a set of Chromes. It sounds phenomenal, tight & defined, not a duff tone to be had anywhere. It plays superbly, the neck is sumptuous & the build quality as good as it gets. Comes with the Levys/Dingwall gig bag & all the tools & paperwork. I spoke to Dingwall a couple of weeks ago & they quoted me £3675 for a new build with this spec. Neil sold it to me for £1250 & that is all I am asking for it now. At the price it is the best Dingwall deal you will ever find, you can't buy a new NG2 for this. Collection from Middlesbrough welcome, I can ship though at your expense/risk. 10. Sorry, I'm just south of Middlesbrough - I know, it is grim. Collection more than welcome.
11. Hello I have my 2016 Fender Nate Mendel Precision for sale. This is a super P bass, great neck, sounds just like a good P bass should. I have made a few changes just so it wasn't like every other one there. The scratch plate is a Rebel Relic lightly aged piece which lifts the visuals of the bass & the wear is just about bang on. The pick up is a Bartolini 8CPB unit which is the classic Bart P bass pickup. Oh & I added the tug bar because Precisions just look cooler with one. Sale includes the original black scratch plate & Seymour Duncan QP pickup, in case you want to go back to stock. Also included is the Fender gig bag & all the bits that comes with the bass new. It's currently string with Thomastik Infeld Jazz roundwounds & the fretboard has been given a dose of Gerlitz guitar honey. No scales to weigh it but it's not a lightweight, at a guess & based on the known weight of my Dingwall I would say 9.5lbs - but don't hold me to that. Only thing of note is that the volume pot has been replaced, I found the original was cracked when the pick up change was done. the only replacement I had to hand was a split shaft - which is technically incorrect. However it works fine & the taper is good. Just being open though. These basses are now £891 (still cheaper than a Road Worn though!), the bits & bobs ran me another £149. Due to that, the price of £675 is firm. Not looking for any trades, I'm in the process of ordering a custom build Status. Shipping is available at your expense/risk & it will be well packed. 12. These are my favorite 'rays; mutes, four bolt & birdseye - so tempting.
13. Bought Neil's Dingwall, it was exactly as described & well packed. As others have attested, Neil is an absolute gentleman & great to deal with. I'm off to play along to Live.....in the Heart of the City.
14.
Open to negotiation about transfer to the buyer!
You have mail sir!
15. I think I may need to change my undercrackers. If I was within 100 miles of Oxford that would be sold.
16. Bought Mark's Ashbory, great communication, fast delivery, exactly as described & fantastic packing. As good as it gets.
17. A bass with my name written all over it.
18. Hi I'm offering my Lakland Shoreline Glaub for sale. This is a a very recent acquisition, I bought it having waited & waited for a used USA Glaub to come up for sale. Needless to say, within week of springing for the Shoreline, a damn USA Glaub came up & I snagged it. As a result I probably need to sell the Shoreline so it's here for £100 less than I paid. Lakland Shoreline basses are made in the ESP Japan factory & according to Mr Lakin they were introduced in 2004 to address 2 basic problems with the existing Lakland basses; due to tariffs USA Laklands were outrageously expensive in Japan and Korean instruments were viewed as inferior by our Japanese cousins. The Shoreline range was meant to offer near USA quality for a domestic instrument price. Now I've read some right old bunkum about the Shorelines, this is not the equal of a USA Lakland - no matter what anyone tells you. Its is a step up from a Skyline though & in terms of quality & appointments sits closer to the USA line of basses. So here's some specs; Alder body (Skylines are ash only) Flat sawn maple neck Twin graphite rods Rosewood 'board Maple fret dots 44mm Bone nut Lakland dual bridge (thru body or normal stringing) Hipshot Lic Ultralights Fralin or Seymour J & P pickups (not sure which on this one - leave that with me) VVT controls The serial number would date the bass to 2005. There is some yellowing of the finish evident and the previous owner used stainless rounds on it so there is some fret wear at the business end. I have pictured the worst of this but the bass plays great & I can't see this requiring any attention for a long, long time. The general condition is excellent, a few tiny marks here & there, too small to photograph though. No missing finish & no cracks, even around the neck pocket. Overall build quality is near faultless, as you would expect. The bass is strung with fresh Chromes & sounds like a great old-school P bass should, fat, round & sweet. The J pickup adds the trademark honk you would expect. If you want an eye opener, follow this link where you'll find the only Shoreline Glaub still made is 400,000 yen - which is £2963. Seriously! Now you'd have to be Radio Rental to pay that for one but it gives you an idea of the standard of these bases. http://www.espguitar...atch/index.html Bass comes with the Shoreline gig bag. Happy to ship at your expense & risk, I will pack it very well. Alternatively you are welcome to come to sunny Teesside & give it a whirl. No trades thanks, if this doesn't sell I won't be heartbroken, just a bit skint.
