Animato .. Is this the overpriced yellow dirt box from Japan?

What does it do differently from others ????

nothing too special about it really, Chris Wolstenholme from Muse uses one so everyone goes wild for it, i sold mine for an incredible profit, and i still sold it for less than other people have... bonkers.

it sounded pretty rat-esque to me

  2. all depends what kind of octave sound you're going for, OC2 is mega fat and quite synthy! its my favourite analogue octave.

the Aguilar octamizer was pretty nice too, great tracking and good control over the octave tones.

if you want BEEF from your octave, i'd definitely say go analogue, all the digital octavers ive found can be quite thin.

  3. the B3k is a total monster, i used to have an animato and find this better in every way, although sometimes i still want that "distortion" sound whilst the darkglass is more of a gnarly overdrive, so now i also have a Fuzzrocious rat tail for different sounds.

the new Darkglass vintage looks awesome, and can get cleaner when compared to the B3k, but that all depends how much you need?

i did gouge a little piece out of the front of my s15 by knocking it on a railing carrying it up the stairs in my apartment block, can definitely tell the wood is lighter, similar kind of whack with my older cabs wouldve just bounced right off or dented.

still wouldnt change it for the world, i keep dreaming about two of them

to add to my above post, at another gig i caught one of the rubber feet on a beer keg as i lifted it over and it tore straight out and i had to screw it back in just to the side of its original place as the hole was too big now.

    still amazing though

good job i didnt fork out for the cloth grill! i'd have put it through by now haha

  5. i made a few different preset shift patches on my M5 and saved them one after another, i quickly got used to the patch changing on the unit, but always considered buying a tech21 midi mouse as an external preset switcher.

but it would just be another thing to bump up the cost

  6. i think most people view them as inferior sounding to the WH1/2 and to the WH4 etc, the only cool thing i like about them is that they can setup with the software of all the other pedals in that series, and you can reboot it to each different one, so millions of settings.

if you're looking for a really versatile monophonic pitch shifter, i've found the line6 M5 (with external expresion) pedal to be the best for my needs (and very good value for money), you can dial in whatever shift settings you want, including the bass whammy setting that everyone goes gaga for!

  7. rats get pretty gnarly! try a fuzzrocious rat tail

i have one on the way and im quite looking forward to it, other than that, i use and can recommend the darkglass B3K, very VERY aggressive and cutting/bitey.

  8. If you use a passive DI, patch it in the effects loop of the amp,

Effects send -> DI in -> through (or DI output) -> effects return

This is how I use my palmer DI with my ampeg now, to get the ampeg pre sound with the speaker sim of my DI

  9. i went looking for a case that could house either of my two GORM boards (one has a raised tier so it gets quite tall)

i settled on a hardcase HN36w drum hardware case as my mate could get me it cheap, gonna pad it out with foam and it'll hold either board, my head, leads, spare strings, spare pedals and anything else i can throw at it!

    GORM FOR LIFE

  10. different to the SFT i'd say, i've not used a VT bass but they may be able to cop similar sounds.

i get my vintage when the first batch ships, and if anyone near me has a VT bass and the equipment to record some samples, then we could AB them.
