Just starting this thread to keep all the reviews collected in one place, so i will put in links and a short description of each review, for anybody wishing to find one, or pass comment on the product, video, or review itself. D'Addario/Planet Waves NS Capo Lite- This was just a quick review on the little budget capo. Quite positive. Video embedded in thread. The actual video review is a bit lacking, but i was trying something. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/197464-a-review-of-the-daddarioplanet-waves-ns-capo-lite-by-milton/page__fromsearch__1 Saving Syenna- This is a fairly fresh band that i happened to come across and couldn't help but think how positive a review i could have written about them if only they played a genre i liked. Oh well. Videos embedded in thread. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/197204-saving-syenna-a-review-by-milty/page__fromsearch__1 Everything Everything's new album- Another review of a band, which i feel i could have written a better review of if they were just more appealing to me. In the end, i neither said it was good nor bad. I couldn't decide whether the great production of it made up for some of the other things that i didn't like about it. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/196867-everything-everythings-new-album-a-provisional-review-by-milton/page__fromsearch__1 Sennheiser HD205 II review- This was just a review on my new headphones. Fairly positive, and for the price, pretty well made and good clarity from them, but lacking some bass in my view. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/196676-new-headphones-sennheiser-hd205-ii-a-small-review-from-milton/page__fromsearch__1 I think that's it, for now. If i have missed any, please do let me know.
You can certainly call me Marv, it's still not my real name My French car, looks lovely, just very poorly put together.
Well, there's no accounting for taste I'd have to spend a hell of a lot of money before i bought a car that i genuinely liked the look of. My tastes are just too... something.
Ummm... how the hell did we get onto religion and rising sea levels in a car thread The rising sea level thing can carry on as no harm done etc... Lets drop the religion talk though please, forum rules etc
But God makes the sea levels rise. *Runs away* I am just joking So those sea levels, eh? what's going on there? Who knows? not me.
but humans just fight, regardless. it can be about religion... or anything else that can be used to make a group of "us" versus a group of "them". humans are fundamentally stupid when they group and stop thinking as an individual. but I agree about religion being one of the worst evils: the hypocrisy in it is powerfully emetic. (talking mostly about the catholic church, as that's the one I have observed the closest)
I agree, but think of all the evils that would have been avoided without it. We would probably have cures for lots more diseases now if the church hadn't gotten control over the literature that was and wasn't allowed to be read, and not only that, but contained most of the people that were able to read. My sister is quite religious, and tried to deny that that happened. I told her to wise up and read a book about it (she reads lots of books already, but apparently none about this).
You have got to be trolling me Combined the oceans are approx 1.3 billion cubic kilometres. Even assuming pure water (sea water is much heavier) that's 1.3 trillion tons. That's a lot of ships
1.3 trillion tons, and then what happens? It would be interesting to find out how much all the large ships in the ocean weight together, my guess is many many many millions of tons.
-
...and what about all those rivers, eh..? Chucking millions of litres into the sea ever since time began..! No wonder the sea level is rising. You can't beat basic, known, facts. I've seen it myself, so it must be (probably...) true.
Haha, you're mocking me, but at least it's funny. You are safe.
I'm not convinced on climate change either, but saying sea levels are rising due to putting things in the sea is absurd, sorry. It's probably negated by what we take out of the sea anyway.
I considered that, and decided that the amount of fish consumed couldn't be as big as the amount of massive boats being put in the sea. they weigh hundreds of thousands of tons, if not millions! and let's not forget the freight carriers, which regularly carry tons and tons of crap over from china. You get enough of them and it's going to become noticeable.
-
Do you think the number of ships will raise the sea level by even a measurable amount? Never mind enough to cause any kind of flooding?
I don't think it's impossible. It's not just ships though, is it? So much waste gets put into the sea every day, especially in developing nations, who treat seas and lakes like a sewage (and more shockingly, drinking water) system. I don't believe much of what i have been spoon-fed on climate change, because it's mostly bollocks.
Is this because it'll only cause a certain Canadian songstress to croon about them ad infinitum? CB
I don't get the reference. No, it's because putting something into the sea displaces the volume of that object. Put enough 5000 room ocean cruisers in it, and obviously the sea levels will rise.
-
I sincerely hope this is a joke lmao
I'm listening. Go.
-
Totally agree. "Save the Planet" is a misnomer. The planet, if the ecology spins out of control, may cease to support humans. But equilibrium will return. And life may return. "Save us" is really what the greenies mean. Personally I don't think we are worth saving. Observe our capitalism, lack of love for each other and how we are continually fighting and killing one another, or letting one another die as we look the other way. Watch Big Brother. Listen to Sandi Thom. Then try to tell me we don't need a 'REBOOT' courtesy of a willing asteroid. CB
I don't mind dying, and i don't mind life ceasing to exist, but one thing i hope, if life DID return, i genuinely hope that religion never becomes a thing again. Think of the amount of wars that would be avoided!
Oh well. Didn't want a temperate planet anyway (sour grapes...). The next generations are going to love us. Good luck with the fiddling while Rome burns, first-worlders...
I don't believe in global warming, or that climate change is caused by humans. For one, we are right at the start of an ice age, the climate is going to change. also all this "Sea levels rising" crap, how about stop dumping stuff in the sea, especially massive boats! The Ice caps melting... aren't they essentially ice cubes in a drink? they displace as much volume as they contain, so when they melt, there will be no increase or decrease in the sea level. I do, however, care about being able to drive a car in the next 10, 20, 30 years. I love driving, and love the internal combustion engine, and want to continue to use them until i'm an old man (like most of you sour gits ) and i don't want to have to pay through the nose just for that privilege. To me, having an electric or hydrogen powered car would just remove all the fun, and the thing about driving that i actually like- Changing gears. It sounds odd, but no. Driving a manual car well is all in the gear changes (and steering, but you need to know what gear you can take a corner in). I won't get that joy with electric cars (no gears). I suppose i could still run a car on vegetable oil... but there's no go from it
You were never going to buy one, but if in the future you think "I'd quite like a Citroen", sit down and take a deep breath and then think about what just entered your head. It would be a pointless exercise to buy said car because you won't get to use it. For the majority of its existence it'll be in the garage workshop probably being repaired for the umpteenth time for a fault that just can't be fixed.
Marv... can i call you Marv? This is just french cars all over. My dad used to have an old peugeot 309. There was a light that always came on (stayed on constantly) that said their was a fault with the oil pump (or maybe it was the glow plugs). But after changing the pump (or plugs) twice, the light still stayed on. I think he even replaced the light. In the end, he decided it was "A f*** up of a thing" and took the light out entirely. It's just some of the incredibly ANNOYING character you get with a french car. It's like a friend that snorts when they laugh. If you are really unlucky, it's like a really ugly friend that tries to get you into bed every time they are drunk.
Lol, awesome! Yes you clearly have issues, lol an now I have a hankering for free stuff! Lol
I have lots of issues. I'm clinically and terminally insane. But yes, free stuff is nice. You don't get it for nothing though. Oh wait, yes you do, that's the point of it! No, i was fortunate in that i have made friends with the owner of the local music shop here, and he is also a D'Addario/Planet Waves fan, so constantly is in contact with a D'Addario rep, and he mentioned that i did the vid, and the rep said they would send free stuff out. I didn't even expect it, he just sent me a message one day saying D'Addario had sent me some free stuff. Anyway, i shan't drag this thread any further away from it's purpose. As you were.

Good morrow to you, fine sir! Doth thou visit to dwell and partake in much conversions of thine bass lute, or doth thou visit on matters of business? Mister Shakesphere, of whom it is said conjured the language a great deal, why doth thou while away thy time among the lowly entertainers and bass lutists? Anyway, enough of this olde worlde talk. Welcome, there are many a bass lute to be seen at market. Many a meandering story to be heard in general discussion, and many debates to be seen in off topic. PS. Well done you for deciding not to be dead anymore, and learn how to use the internet. -
A review of the D'Addario/Planet Waves NS Capo Lite by Milton.
No worries, Things that you fit to a bass are generally accessories (pickups, strings, capos). It's no hassle moving stuff every now and again. There's actually a review section on here too that it may be worth having a look at (then feel free to start a thread that just let people know that a new review is up.
Oh right, ok, thanks -

Here we are guys, the answer to the question none of you asked! Video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVdkkTHNMkw Ok, so i find this capo very cool. It's slim, light and well made. At just £10, you can't be bad to it. It's got the usual rubber around the inside to protect your neck, fretboard and also, to stop it just slipping off or having to over tighten it to get it to grip. The great thing about this little thing is the thumbscrew, meaning that you only ever need to apply the exact amount of pressure the strings need to be held against the fret, which means none of the strings are pressed sharp from being pressed too far down (a big issue with electric guitars. It's not something we experience so much with basses). So, right off the mark, it's cheap, well made, solves and obvious issue. cool. I'm sure you all know that a spring loaded capo tends to put a guitar out of tune, because you don't have control over how tight it goes, it will just go as tight as it can (unless you get one with a tension control, but more about that another time). Like most capos, it has a curved top for guitars with rounded fretboards, so it might not work well with flat fretboards. A bad point about this capo is the inability to store it somewhere handy on the guitar, as most guitarists like to clip it on to the end of the headstock for handiness. This can't so that, because it doesn't clamp down far enough. It's not a big issue, but it would be good to have it handy when playing a gig or whatever. However, not needing to retune after putting this capo on will almost certainly save more time than it takes to get the capo and put it on. The lightness and slimness of it means that it won't imbalance your guitar, or hinder your playing much, if at all. So there we are, all the reasons i could think of for and against this product. On the whole, it's a definite yes, and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I would give it a 9/10. It's a great product, and i think we would be hard pushed to find a better capo at £10.

Just had this at my bass lesson. My teacher was pretty impressed by it. He said it sounded particularly good with my bass, which has a more classic sound, and everything sounds lovely and smooth and fat, there's no harshness, but no boominess from it either, it's just lovely. lovely, lovely, lovely.
