1.
Well I always think if it's something you really want, then why not pay over the odds a little? Why risk losing it just because you don't want to spend an extra £20-£30? Back to OP, all my experience with SWR gear has been extremely positive. Just had a look online at the silverado and it looks very decent indeed! Truckstop
Yes, i had heard good things, and i had read about some of their recent amps that had very good reviews. The guy that owns this amp said it sound great, and constantly has other bassists saying how great it sounds at gigs, but when he gigs, it just gets DI'd and he uses a lot of distortion and other effects, so it just wasn't being used like it should. I want it, but i don't want to pay more than i have to for it. I don't understand why wanting something means you should pay more for it, obviously if nobody wanted it, there wouldn't even be a point in putting it up for sale.

 3.
Given the state of the market, and the age of the combo, I personally wouldn't go over about £250.
Oh really? he's not desperate to sell, although it has been up for a month or more, recently readvertised though.
 4. During our performance piece for my A level grade, my friend, who played guitar for us, decided she would put the capo on the second fret, and not the third, and not mention it to anybody. My bassline was quite fast up and down, and when i came in, i just looked and was like "why doesn't this sound right?". apparently my teacher was trying to signal that i was a semi-tone out, but then thought she might confuse me and stopped, but i worked it out anyway. I had to readjust everything on the fly, which wasn't easy for me. Apparently the moderator didn't notice, but that wasn't the only mistake i had made, and i was pissed off with the entire performance, and that was the only performance that ever really mattered. Also, my amp was really quiet for some reason, and at one point, it was just me playing under the bridge by myself, while my friend pretended to be a drunk in a pub and being all like "Oh aye, i know that one b'jaysus! go on, i'll sing along... shumtyimes a fyeels like" etc etc. I'm getting pissed about it now, and it was nearly a year ago.

 6.
It'll be around 350 watts with an 8 ohm extension cab. The later 2x12 version (Silverado Special) was a 350 watt combo. The aural enhancer is effectively a mid cut: the more you turn it up the more it cuts the mids while boosting the lows and highs.
Ah right, thanks very much! i'm happy with 220 watts, i have no big plans for it really, just using around the house, lessons maybe, a few recordings, no big gigs or anything.
 7.
No, you are in the right place! The Silverado is a good combo, as most SWR gear from that era was, but it's low powered (220 watts at 8 ohms) and pretty big and heavy (70lbs), so hard to move. EQ is useful, with a mid sweep. Cheers Gareth
I thought it was 350watts? Any idea what an aural enhancer does?

 9. Hey guys- was wondering what you thought about the SWR silverado 4x8? There's a local guy selling one, and i'm seriously considering buying it when i get the money (if he still has it then). Just wanting to hear some unbiased opinions on it. Thanks.
 10.
I have a bunch of RHCP songs in multi track format, including the whole of BSSM. Not "youtubified". They could sound better, but they are not bad at all. Very good for learning and generally getting a good feel for Flea's style. If interested PM me. I'm sure I can find a way to get them to you. I also have Stevie Wonder's Superstition in 24 tracks... hours of fun
ERDAGAHAAA! *dead*. ...PM sent.
 11.
I had a play with the shape on my phone during a 2+ hour wait at the doctors and came up with this
I like this version, although i don't like the bottom horn of the original design, or charics one. I would change it, i just have no idea what to. Of course, all that is just irrelevant, because it's not my bass
 12.
Not kids in general of course they are not, just meant "kids" as mine, and yes, my daughter can sing every word from that album
ah right, ok then. Grease has decent music.
 13.
I think I meant unlikely due to 1. its music the kids are into and 2. Im enjoying the whole album, not just the track you mention.
The kids that are in to it are in to musicals, surely? It never was that big for me or my mates growing up, only the drama ones really. I think because it's that kind of rock and roll era thing that it appeals to quite a lot of us (most of us being rockers ). Is hairspray supposed to be a 50's thing? it has sh*t music.
 14.
My daughter keeps playing the Grease soundtrack in the car, and Im quite enjoying some of the baselines .. Life's better when you go with the flow
I wasn't sure if i should say "Your the one that i want" because i know it's a good bassline in an unlikely place, but i thought most of us would have known that already?
 15.
click on "watch on youtube", it explains how it was done. Essentially, it's one of the tracks available as multitracks of some sort for a video game. From that, a guy isolated the bass track the best he could and mixed it together with the original album audio, ensuring the bass was loud enough in the mix.
I love going on to YouTube and finding the bass master tracks, but the problem is, they are always terrible quality. Listen to any BSSM song, then find the bass master track on YouTube, and you would think they compressed the crap out of it and had it at a lower bit rate. I love the totally guttural sound of the Wal Mach 2 in BSSM, but on YouTube, it just sounds like a plank with an output socket.
 16.
Not really a "hopeless place" exactly, but maybe an unexpected place for such an interesting bass part?
That was kind of the point of the thread. Name the songs that have an excellent bassline where you wouldn't expect there to be. It's mainly focusing on genres away from rock (which is known for it's bassline wealth) and things more like pop, and stuff like that. People have listed music from cartoons and ads, which i think is great, because they really got the point of the thread (and so did you! Except you didn't realise it!). I was more or less using the popular Rihannah song to give the title an interesting twist. It also turns out that the song "We found love" actually has a hopeless baseline (in that it's pretty typical dance/pop music bassline, and fairly crap, and each note hidden behind i crummy sound). So that's all tied up in a neat little bow.
 17.
You missed my irony then... it was surprising to find bass in such a hopeless place as AJFA, where it had notoriously been lowered to inaudible levels in the mix.
"Justice for all.... except the bassist".
 18.
Although I doubt it as it was James' and Lars' desicion to basically remove the bass.
Why did they do that? If i was going to cut anything from metallica, it would probably be Lars's below par drumming!
 19. So i thought i would start a thread where everyone could point out where they heard a great bassline in and unlikely place. I just heard "Men in black" by Will Smith for the first time in years, and realised how funky the bassline in that was, so i suppose that's the first one. Please share your unlikely basslines below, and please include the song, and artist. And if you want, put in a link to a youtube video of it. Alright, Get set... GO!
 20. Also, any basses i make will be string through and with a high mass bridge.
 21. I saw a picture of a jazz shaped bass yesterday, with a MM style pickup in the tradition MM position (somewhere between the jazz positions) but that was the only pickup it had. Hopefully some day i can make a couple of bass bodies and put pickups where i like.
 22.
OK, here's an adult response: Thhhhp! Thhhhp! Thhhhhhhppppp! Thhhhhhppppp!!!
HAHA! no way old man, NO WAY! I'm going to take a painkiller and drink cider in the park!
 23.
How can you be a teenager if you're awake at seven-thirty in the bloody morning? .
Because i never went to sleep, and actually just woke up there now. You just got served
 24.
Perhaps they didn't fit your ears as well? Or you happened to have the duffer in Sennheiser's range? Or perhaps they just showed up source limitations?
Maybe, i just know i spent £35 on them, and the £20 philips ones were far better than them.
 25.
Between a hump in response at 70ish Hz to make it sound bassy (like Beats), and true bass reproduction and extension...
I laughed my ass off at the girl who said she was an audiophile, and used Beats headphones because they were the best.
