1. I will be unable to ship anything between Dec 19 and Jan 10, so if you're interested in the bass, now's the time to act! I'd be interested in hearing any (trade) offers in order to clean up the house before Christmas!

4. The reason the trade was cancelled is that the bass offered in trade was non-functional and the buyer was not willing to pay for the repairs that were necessary. 5. So the trade was cancelled. This is a highly playable bass, excellent quality of craftsmanship, very distinctive, aggressive, super-J type of tone. I just get so well along with my MTD that I'm not even feeling the inclination to play my other basses. Lightweight, very stiff neck, very thin front-to back. 19 mm spacing currently, can be set lower. I prefer 19mm nowadays. It feels nice to be able to play with the same RH technique I grew up with. I'll record a cilp soon, but there are some vids on youtube - the Drozd tone is fairly distinctive, and I've found most vids have the same core tone. More pics at http://s626.beta.pho...5/library/Drozd In mint condition, comes with a Drozd light hard case. Asking 1900 pounds incl shipping. I think these list for about 3000 pounds new. I could entertain trade offers, but am not looking for anything in particular at the moment.
6. Thanks for the kind words - though 'legend' ... am I already legendary for flipping basses? I have to stop. Aye, this one's a cracking piece of kit, best fretless I've had.
7. Did I mention I have some first takes recorded with the bass? Will provide via email.
8. I've got some clips of this bass, will record some more on Wed and put them online
9. Aight, I'll get my macbook back from repairsman next week, so I'll have clips online on Thu!
10.
What's the weight of this monster?
It's not a monster! It's a cutie! Bathroom scale says 4,5 kgs?
11. Yes, bought this from France. And fully agree with K-Sad. Like I said, not sad if this doesn't sell. As regards trades, I'd be open to trading down for something that's pretty easy to flip.
12. I don't think I can call something 'the best I've ever played' convincingly - my 'best' obviously changes with the moon! And besides, over certain price you pay for a vision a lot of the time. If the vision matches yours - great! If it doesn't - well, it's still a brilliant instrument!
13. Aight, here goes: 1996: Rocky P-bass clone 1997: Epiphone El Capitan 1998: Warwick Corvette natural brown wood. Wenge/wenge neck. 14. Manufacturer's site here: http://www.alter-ego...strum=3&IDopt=2 My bass has the best preamp option, natural colour, 5 strings, tournee detachable neck and the excellent compact flight case. According to TalkBass threads, this is one of the best EUBs around. I for one have had the NS and KYDD and neither are nearly the bass this one is. It's basically a very, very good upright that happens to not project very loud acoustically. It feels the same as my carved acoustic, apart from being 5 string. I find I don't need 5 strings in an upright. Sold. Comes with the stand, gig bag and flight case.
15. I think I might try and see if I can compile a list... As to why I've bought and sold so many basses: part of it must be insecurity in my abilities as a player. Another is that I am a damned perfectionist and have been looking for that one bass that would fit me perfectly. Also, I pretty much got the sound I wanted out of my URB with a visit to the luthiers and a set of Obligatos. I've never been able to get all the sounds I want out of my electrics. (Funnily enough, as different as my MTD 635 and Spector NS6-XL are/were tonally, I got the response 'THAT is the best bass tone I've ever heard, it's exactly what I've always thought a bass should sound like!' from a couple of musos completely unrelated to each other. I blame the Read preamp and ACME cabs.) I got very, very, near with the Fodera, but I realized I wasn't comfortable taking it to all my gigs. Just too much of an asset, not replaceable enough. I'm currently trying to do the Marcus thing with my MTD, which is far from a universal bass, but we'll see how it goes. Doubtless I'll end up buying a Fodera AJ bass again.
16. should work now. Photobucket 'improved' their user experience again...
17. bump - this is a bass I won't be sorry to keep. The MTD is not for sale, and this would be the one I'd keep as #2. The MTD and the Drozd are also more aggressive than the other basses I've for sale - the Roscoe has a fat tone, but not as much growl.
18. Right, this is an american Foderaesque bass. Sounds a lot like a bolt-on imperial with bartolinis. As such, it has great sustain and depth, so not like a jazz bass bolt-on. This is a VERY good bass, but not enough space, and I'm trying to do the Marcus thing and stick with my MTD which has a pretty unique tone that works better for me. (Some call MTDs cold and clinical, I say 'precise and wiry') Very, VERY, comfy maple neck with birdseye maple fretboard. White mahogany body with mahogany accent, burled walnut top. About the only neck that legitimately beats MTD necks or the one Fodera neck I've had. (FOR ME) Will take exact dimensions tomorrow. Custom 18v Bartolini 3-band pre with mid switch and kill switches. Birdseye maple pickup covers with matching knobs. Weighs about 9 lbs. Compound radius, 24 fret, 34" scale. Abalone Rbass logo and side (neck) position markers. Has Hipshot hardware with an adjustable bridge which is currently set @18ish mm, does something like 17.5-18.5 mm. Comes with a custom-made maple ramp. Will try to snap pics tomorrow, as am at home during the light hours tomorrow. Don't have a good flash / ambient lighting. Comes with a nice gig bag, excellent condition. traded pending the other RBass for sale in Europe is a neck-through that's located in Italy and he's asking 3500 euro ~ 2800 quid which is just too much I think. More pics at http://s626.beta.pho...5/library/RBass Here's a previous owner demoing some tones:
19. Aight, we really don't have the space for me to have this many basses. Besides, my custom build is very near finished! That should fill all my needs for a spanking bass. Looks like an even more aesthetical Spector, hits like an angry love child of Spector and Jazz. Very nice all around if you like aggressive growly tones. Maple bolt-on neck, ebony board, etimoe body, flame maple top. Deep lows and clean highs, the forte of the bass is the growl and attack. The neck is very, very fast playing. The bass is in near mint condition, professionally setup so no buzz, very low action. Near mint because there was slight buzz from uneven frets. String spacing is variable, set at 19 mm currently, probably goes down to 18mm. Drozd proprietary split humcancelling single coil pickups, Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. Comes with a Drozd light hard case in near mint condition. I'll email the pics I have of the bass per request, I'll get some photos up on photobucket this week. Asking 2000 pounds. More pics at http://s626.beta.pho...5/library/Drozd
20. still here! Top is chestnut, body alder.S String spacing adjustable, goes down to 18 mm and even lower I think.
