1. MySpace friends with Same Difference eh? Have you met them in real life? Do they ever stop smiling
 2. As someone who's more than double his 21st birthday and, assuming you genuinely want something you'll hang on to for a very long time, then I'd go for an American Standard. Pure classic lines and unlikely to go out of fashion - especially if you buy a simple traditional colour. If you decide to mod it then you could always make sure everything is retro-fittable. The fact that it has a lower start price means a) you'll feel less likely to trade it on a whim & it'll be easier to sell if you ever do have to move it on. However - if you just want the best bass you can afford in today's market and don't want something to keep for ages then shop around & consider all the great jazz style basses out there. I have a Sadowsky & Lakland & rate them very highly. Both relatively easy to trade onwards if needed.
 3.
I have the planet waves pedal tuner... got to be the easiest to use that I have tried. Sweep or Strobe mode. True bypass and big easy to read digits... not the cheapest out there at £60 ish... got mine from PMT/Sound Control
I have two of these - one for home & one for rehearsal / live work. Biggest selling point for me is the super clear readout, you can see through the heaviest fog of dry ice
 4.
I believe that was my 151p originally, i maybe wrong, anyhow great cabs as stated so much so i use a pair of the newer shaped ones regularly.
Did you trade it here with Simon? If so then it may well have been yours as that's who I got it from
 5. I'm sure I've seen this before but a quick hunt round the usual suspects online & I can't find it anywhere?
 6. Ok - so this is not the best shot but here's the combo sitting on top of the cab at a recent gig Just spotted that the pic on the wall directly above the cab shows someone sticking their fingers in their ears - told you it was loud
 7. For a short period I owned one of each but becuase they were stored at two different venues over 50 miles apart I never got to play them back to back. Spent more time with the JO and got a pretty good feel for the sound of it. Mine was fitted with Fralin pickups and a J-Retro active pre. My DJ has a set of Aero pickups and stock passive Lakland pre. Having now sold the JO & bought the DJ home I'm really surprised at quite how different they sound. Obviously there's more to it than the basses themselves as they different pickups & pre controls & active vs passive. I'm struggling a bit to get a sound I like out of the DJ whilst the JO sounded really nice right across the board. The DJ with bridge pickup only and tone on full is my favourite sound but I'm not at all sure about the neck pickup or blended sounds. To add a bit of additional perspective to this I generally tend to keep pickups pretty evenly balanced on my basses & have never really biased towards the bridge. I'm also usually an 'active' player rather than passive so maybe it's just been a long time since I've heard a full on passive neck pickup sound! Maybe I should think about installing something active? I wouldn't need something as flexible as the East though, maybe an Aguilar?
 8. Jamerson will always be first for me - one of the few that I can listen purely to the bass without any other instrumentation at all. Rocco Prestia is my favourite live bass man - I could watch him all evening. Third place is tougher - gotta be somewhere between Stanley & Bootzilla, again, both can be great live (although Stan has lost his 'edge' these days i think)
 9. Pics of the 1x15 below - hopefully you can see that it looks like new Any white fleck marks are just dust & stuff that brushes off! Check the corners etc & you'll see there's virtually no sign of wear anywhere. The Combo is in pretty much the same condition. Great pairing these two - easy one handed lift for both so you can just about stroll into a gig with a bass on your back & these two in one go!
 10.
Bargainous for my favourite preamp!
Would take offers on the EBS - it works perfectly and is a nice clean simple power amp. IMHO it partners the Trace quite nicely from a sonic point of view as well
 11. It's picture time - bit of flash overload but vaguely helps to show up what few marks they have Both items pictures in a rack with a Samson radio unit. Might be tempted to flog everything including the rack if someone was really interested!
 12. I can get pics of the cab today but combo is at rehearsal room. Will be there Tuesday. Both units are pretty much immaculate really
 13.
ooo no, id have no use for the vt now, im in love with the fafner, the vt would just sit on my side and look pretty, plus if were talking the blue sparkle flea if anything else kate would never let me part with it
I was just kidding Sean
 14.
Thats not just a bass player in the prince vid - thats Larry f***ing Graham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought he seemed quite good
 15.
That tash is awesome
That's what I thought, the first time I tried to find a pic of Moon basses all I came up with was Larry Graham but this guy's tash swung it for me
 16.
looks a bit like a Moon...JJ4...maybe
Good shout - bit like one of these:
 17. I used to double some of the guitar parts but as the keys are doing a fair bit of that I try to play it really simple now - in fact I try to play s little as possible. Seems to be one of those 'less is more' kinda songs to me
 18. On again later tonight - BBC4 repeat everything I'm recording it overnight - I do like Beck but I find watching him on Sky+ is a bit of a bonus as I can zap past the bits when I get a bit bored
 19. Just been listening / watching some Prince & found this live version of Purple Rain & couldn't work out what bass his player had? http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...ideoid=27695321 It looks like a slimmed down Jazz body but with an angled neck pickup. Not really in shot much but if you wind up to about 10 mins 45 secs theers one decent view of it then. Looks kinda cool to me And I love this song by the way
 20.
ah great, if only i had the money and id be biting your hand off for it, is it speakon connection or 1/4 inch?
How about I chuck in the Vt .40 & swap them both for the Flea
 21. This EBS is a 2x100w power amp. I don't really know much about these other than they are fairly early examples of EBS product and don't actually have the EBS logo on the front - although they do have the usual EBS colour scheme & made in Sweden logos. It's sat in a studio rack for a while and was serviced just before I bought it. Will run in stereo, bridged mono or 2 x mono. Works well, simple clean power amp, what more can you say
 22.
Yeah, would have been v. interested if it was the newer shape 'cause then it would stack nicely under my 2x10 combo. They changed it towards the end of last year I think.
That's a shame - it stacks really well under the 1x12 becuase of the square footprint.
 23.
What shape is the Traveller cab? Is it the older cube shaped one or the newer one which has the same width as the standard size cabs?
I'm guessing you wanted one of the newer ones then I must admit I didn't know they'd changed the shape - when did they do that? The one I have looks like it's virtually brand new so maybe it's been sitting in someone's bedroom for a while!
 24.
Ah im glad, i felt that awful at the thought my recommendation influenced you buying the cab and that youd hated it. Is it the version with wheels or not?
No wheels I'm afraid, although I think you can buy them & they just slot straight in
 25.
Hi, no i havnt yet, though like all bass shops ive just assumed theyd offer me an insultingly low price for it, has anyone had experience with them in selling a bass to them?
I sold a bass through them - they took it on a commission basis so there was some incentive to get a decent price for it. I pretty much got my asking price and they took what I thought was a fair commission off the top for organising & taking a credit card on my behalf
