1. +1 for the DR black beauties! I've got them on my Corvette $$ 5er, and my Highway One Jazz. Brilliant! I get them from elderly instruments in the US. $29.35 for the four string, or two packs for $52.70 $37.75 for the five string, or two packs for $68.50 $10 for postage, and they arrive within a week. Bargain!

9. Beautiful. I wish I was half as talented. Fantastic job so far. Andy
10. Comfort Strapp and Dunlop strap locks. The only way forward! Andy
11. At the moment I'm listening to a lot of Ian Dury and the Blockheads. Norman Watt Roy is a genius! Andy
12. I have one. It is by no means a Fender beater, but if you're looking for a budget instrument to practice on, it's great. I stuck on a new set of strings, and re-shielded the innards. I wouldn't gig it, but it's good for mucking about in the house on. Andy
13.
Sorry, but I do have to say I have had a LOT of trouble with the Warwick strap locks on my old Corvette. If it wasn't the screw being quite short and resulting in the whole lock coming out of the bass, it would be the actual locking mechanism wouldn't be 100%. I might have just got a dud though. I use Dunlop Straploks on all my basses after being very impressed with the recessed ones on my Thumb. I use the Dual Design on my others, which you can either uses strap locks or just a strap by itself. Insurance in case I should lose my strap and need to borrow another.
I really don't trust the Warwick straplocks. Twice the catch failed, almost resulting in my corvette bouncing off the stage. I have since replaced them with Dunlop ones, and am more than happy. Pain in the nuts to put on though! Andy
14. I've bought quite a lot of stuff from a guy called n.aalox on ebay. It comes from America, but it's always got here pretty quickly, and I've never been done for import duty!
15.
Jimmy knows!
+1!
16. Depending on how much PA support I have, I either sit my combo raised on a couple of boxes behind me, between myself and the drummer, or to the side of the stage, pointing across to myself and the drummer. I think that makes sense!
17.
Hamster
LOL
18. I'm quite happy to go along with anything, as long as, as I said in an earlier post, it is able to take the words in context. And while the "F" and "C" words are pretty much offensive to everyone, I think terms such as "rim" would not be used in a lurid manner on here, and would be more likely to cause offence were they to be changed. Maybe. I don't know.
19. To be honest, in order for a profanity filter to actually work, will it not need to also work with reference to context also? For example, (and sorry if it's a bad one), if I was reading a post in which someone was talking about a drummer keeping time using [Sonny Jim] shots, I wouldn't know what he was talking about, and would stop reading the post. Am I the only one thinking it's a wee bit excessive? Sometimes posts are difficult enough to read without having random rhyming slang thrown in in brackets! Andy
20. Yeah, but look at this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt4FlaZq8zI Scared the sh*t out of me. Andy
21. Ended up getting one in Guitar Guitar. Went into Sound Control and the guy obviously couldn't be arsed talking to me, so I just left. I really can't be doing with their attitude in there. Got a reasonably good deal, and a conversation from the salesman, so I'll be going back! Thanks for your input! Andy
22. Thanks guys. I'll go in and see them tomorrow and see what they say. Only problem is, it's difficult to haggle in a shop where the staff are more concerned at putting stock away, or talking to their friends on the phone, than actually speaking to their customers! I'll let you know what happens! Just remembered it's a 5 week month for me too, bloody NHS! Looks like Mr Visa may have to sub me again.
23. Right, apologies if this gets a bit long winded, but I'm struggling to make my mind up about this one. Was in Sound Control in Glasgow today and saw and played fretted VMJ. I'm planning on getting one of these when I get paid next Thursday anyway. My problem is two fold and begins here. The bass I played today had a one piece body and looked nicer than the one's which I have previously played. It's £249, here the cheapest I've seen it on the internet is £209. So should I pay the extra £40 for the cosmetic advantage, or should I risk a two/three piece body from the internet, and spend the extra money on a case? I should also add that I have previously vowed not to shop in Glasgow Sound Control again due to some particularly arrogant and rude staff, but that's another story. (Or two!) Is a good looking bass a good enough reason to shop in a poor shop!? Is £40 not a lot extra to pay for a more aesthetically pleasing instrument?! Any opinions would be gratefully received! Cheers, Andy
24. Oh, and thanks to all involved in creating the new site!
25. And glad to be here at last! Was a bit of a lurker on the old site(s!), only posted a couple of times though. If I can think of anything useful to say over here I'll say it! Speak to you all soon. Andy
