Played the T-Max head in my old (black/thrash metal) band, great amp - actually preferred it over the Ampeg SVT-3pro (which I originally wanted to buy before I came across the T-Max). Wanted something lighter after a while, but tone-wise it's still one of those amps I regret having sold! But 500£ is way overpriced ... Got mine for about 150£ (though it really was a great deal), but from time to time they appear on ebay or the 2nd hand market for about 180-250£. If you don't mind the weight and like the tone, and find one in good condition in that price range - go for it, they really are great, reliable amps
Cheers Ratking, thanks for your help.
I did venture out there once. I walked from the city centre, so I had to make sure that my purposeful stride was clearly visible as I passed all the 'massage parlours'. I'm told it can be quite challenging to buy anything off the bloke!
Its always an entertaining visit, as long as you don't mind the lovely surroundings of Old Market. the last time I went in Steve was happily swigging from a bottle of Smirnoff Blue and chain smoking and a quick pop in lasted 45 minutes. The best bit was that I could see the backs of 3 interesting basses which turned out to be a pre Ernie Ball Stingray and 2 70s Guilds . When I asked about them he said they weren't on display as he'd rather sell a £100 Tanglewood than have people w*** over a £1000 Guild. You've got to love it, its a brilliant shop. Treblerock will try and sell you stuff (usually a Mark Bass rig) but for the experience Ladyland must be the best shop in the country.

Cheers. I've seen it its nice with reinforced cab but i think they were asking about £500 which is a bit steep for me at the moment so was just curious how much the heads were on their own to see of its any more affordable.thanks again

My local rehersal studio has a peavey tmax head as part of their basic backline. I really like the tone especially the valve channel. Im just trying to get an idea of their cost 2nd hand. Cheers
Hi Steve, Welcome to BC! You made a wise choice with the procrastination, coz that way you came to the right place. Nice people here (not me). There's already several Bristolonianites here on BC. You may know some of them. Anyway, enjoy the site! best, bert
Cheers Bert

I popped in last week. Didn't see the Eden but had a fender rig few ashdown combos and a nice trace. An old 70s guild was the nicest bass. Do you ever go to electric ladyland. Its always an entertaining visit.

Great. Thanks everyone. One 210 on its way courtesy of LordSausage on here, and I'll pick the other up on Sunday and make some noise! Thanks again.

Great thanks, I think I'll give that a try. I really like the sound of my 4x10 but a wonky shoulder makes it to heavey, I can't stretch to the cost of light wieght cabs at the moment and I like the idea of one 2x10 for protability and 2 of them for more noise. Do 2 2x10s get the same punch as a 4x10? Cheers

Hi Just after some cab advice. I currently have a Peavey Musician head which runs down to 2 ohm which I currently put though a Peavey TX 410. I was told the cab was 4 ohm but when I collected found it was 8. It sounds great but is too big and heavey for my needs / house / dodgy shoulder and dosent get the most out of the head, so have lined up a 210 tx (4 ohm) to replace it. I have the option to get either another 210 TX or Peavey 115 Balck Widdow to go with it which I intend to use as required for extra tone / volume and would take me to 2 ohm to get the most out of my head. The question is 2x10 or 1x15 and does the 2 2x10 sound best stacked vertically horizontally or a cab either side of the drummer. I'm leaning towards the 2x10 due to flexability, portability and the fact that 1x15s are more common so it would be an easier swap at a later date, but would welcome any opinions from people who have had similar set ups. Cheers for your help Steve

Hi Thought I'd intorduce myself as I should be working and am procrastonating. I'm Steve in Bristol, I stated playing again after a long layoff at the end of last year. Current set up: Yamaha BB1100s Bass which Ive had for over 20 years, these have to be the best value 2nd hand basses around Peavey Musician Head from 1970s Peavey TX 410 Marshall Drivemaster Zoom B2 Currently putting a set together with a new band and continually tinkering with bargin 2nd hand amps and cabs to find the right sound. I think I'm close but the 4x10 is likly to go for 2 2x10s. That's me, Cheers Steve
