http://www.bellcommunity.org.uk/ Campaign to save one of the best music pubs in the south west becoming another of baths gastro pubs. Im sure people on here must have played there. Used to be a local of mine when i lived in bath.

All that's been considered because my cousin grew up with the initials a r s! Surname is bragg so no suggestion of billy please! Thing is I've never played a tobias or an mtd it just seemed like a good excuse for a new bass(it'll be his to grow into)! Are the cheaper tobias' or mtd kingstons any good?

Thinking of duck or bootsy
Hehe, I like your thinking! Tobias is a cool name too. Skol Jnr is called Max... so that's his volume setting sorted out already Wishing you all the best with the new arrival.
Does it go to 11?

Ive got a baby due any day and one of the names on our shortlist is tobias. If this is the name we go for, does that mean that i have to buy a bass of the same name. If that is the case how can i convince my wife that Wal would be a good middle name?

For Sale, Peavey Musician Bass head for sale circa 1970s. This is a big solid old trasistor head with built in fuzz, overdrive and tremelo effects, and 2 channels and sounds fantastic. It has developed a fault wher after a few minutes playing it starts cutting in and out. I looked looked into getting this fixed before Xmas and was told it probably just has some dry joints and needs a clean and a dab of solder so is probably an easyish job if you know what you are doing (which I don't!). Trouble is I couldn't get it fixed in time for a gig so I bought an Ashdown Superfly to tide me over and even though I much prefer the look and sound of the Peavey the Ashdown is more smaller and more convenient for my needs at the moment, and as I don't need two Amps I'll have to let this one go! £60 ono. I'm in Bristol but happy to post in the UK for cost. Any questions, please let me know.

1970s Arbiter SG style Bass Guitar with a short scale neck for Sale. £60 ono. or trade for a fretless (plus cash your way most likly!) I bought this last year on a whim from ebay with a view to fixing it up and trying some drop tunings. However I have decided this isn't for me and need to clear some space. I have cleaned up the bass, given it a set up, and a new set of Slinkys. A couple of things to note are the neck pick up doesn't work and I don't know the reason for this and the A string needs a new saddle, and the body has a few paint chips but nothing major (but it is a 40 year old ish instrument) and hopefully the price reflects this. Other than that it plays nicely and has a good thumpy tone similar to an EB0. Good cheap bass. Happy to post (UK only) but don't know what it would cost yet but would guess £15 to £20 Any questions please let me know. NOW SOLD

Trouble is the only true cure is to think a more annoying tune. The theme from terry and June beats all other ear worms.

I've had the bass line to badge by cream stuck in my head for about a month for no apparent reason. I cant remember th last time i listened to it but do have to play it occasionally to get the ear worm to stop. Are there any other sufferers of random bass line ear worms.

I might have to try and get to heron music or electric ladyland and see what they have in!

Thanks. I've pm'd about the westone. I don't think Ive played one in 20 years but do remember that they are a solid chunk of wood but can't remember what the necks are like.

Thanks for the ideas. I've just missed out on a couple on evil bay and will keep looking. Thanks everyone.

I been promising myself a fretless for years and have tried a squier vm jazz fretless which seems good value and is nice to play. Just wondering if anyone can recommend anything else worth considering in that sort of budget as there doesnt seem much choice in the shops around bristol. I prefer j necks to p. Any advice gratefully received. Cheers

Hi I don't know if this should be here or in Jazz as its a Georgie Fame track but its not that Jazzy so I'll start here. I'm trying to work out "Somebody Stole My Thunder" by Georgie Fame and am hoping someone has some Tab or transcriptions for it as I can't find anything on the Web. I'm fine with the main riff which is in F, but am struggling with some of the fills and speciffically the the prechorus / chorus section under the "no one told me lock your doors and windows" section. I think it is moving between G and C but I'm struggling to work out what is actually being played. It is a fantastic bass line which I think was played by Tex Makins, and any help would be gratefully received. Thanks for the help. Steve

Bought a Ashdown amp from James, all as described, great condition, and works fine. Very well packed, good communication and dispatched quickly. Pleasure to deal with. Cheers Steve

For Sale Marshall Drivemaster overdrive pedal circa 1991 ish. Bought from new still with origional box, works perfectly only thing is the battery cover is a little loose. Does what it says on the tin and sounds like an overdriven Marshall. Only selling as I don't use it any more (no more Metallica covers, its great for "For Whom the bell tolls"). Very good condition Would consider trading for a budget end but decent fretless with some cash your way, they seem to be on the market for about £60 so I'll start there but happy to haggle. Photos to come shortly if needed but its a black metal box that makes your bass rock http://www.ultimate-...ster/index.html Cheers

I love my BB1100s, its my only bass and have had it for over 20 years. They have to be the best value for money basses around and you can get a massive range of tones from them along with a lovely neck. The only downside with it is that it's not the second had Wal I went to buy that day, but it had sold that morning with my BB1100 being px'd for it. I still tell myself I saved £75 as a result as long as I don't consider the £2k price difference now!

Drummer wanted for a new project in Bath and Bristol. Guitar, Bass, Drums, rock set up with a bit of a r&b blues folk funk soul vibe. Mix of Origionals and covers, aiming for a first gig in December and the drummer we had lined up has had to drop out due to work commitments. We're in our 30s if it matters and are looking to make some noise and have a good time. We tend to reherse in Bath. PM me if you are interested or know anyone who may be. Also is there a drum version of Bass Chat that it is worth putting this on? Cheers Steve
