1.
That's a good exercise - to play the 3rd & 7th - but that should have been preceeded and followed up with a complete progression of 2-note combinations. Go over to my website and download the lesson Understanding Intervals:

http://www.joehubbardbass.com/cool-free-bass-stuff/

This lesson covers the basic theory of intervals. To apply this to your bass, play all the 2-note combinations (intervals) through the Cycle of 5ths. Look on the theory lesson and it explains "interval inversion." When playing the interval combinations through the cycle, play the interval in both inversions as you go through the cycle. Also explore some fingering possibilities as well. Isolation drills using 2-notes is a great way of stripping things down so you can start to hear how these notes fit over a harmonic progression. This is basic stuff, but built in a progression will build a solid foundation and really help you to understand how to play and hear the notes on your fretboard. There are many exercises that I use to implement this. If you don't really know all the notes on your fretboard and where all the possibilities to play them are, then download The Random Note Finder Exercise on the same page.

Hope some of that is useful to you. Sorry you are not being taught what you should be at an established University- shame on them! This is common though; many people who call themselves teachers do not have the capabilities (or the knowledge) to actually teach- especially when it comes to jazz improvisation.

3. I'm toying with the idea of going for a change Bass wise.
This Mexican Jazz 5 Deluxe is a grate playing and sounding instrument.
The 3 band circuit is the same as the U.S model, I know because I had one of each and kept this one over the U.S.A model as it played far better and sounded much the same.
Overall condition is very good, a nice straight neck and board.
There is one small chip in the paint work where the body joins the neck and a couple of small dents.
Serial no. is mz7115423 so it seem to be one of the earlier mexican models.
You may be able to se a very slight crack on the 3rd picture on top edge of the headstock, it is purley surface and does not affect tuning of playabilty.
I am looking for a peavey cirrus bxp 4 as a trade, must be good condition

4.
My Peavey BXP Cirrus 5 (bubinga top) bought a few months ago in order to learn to play 5-string basses is very sadly up for sale due to me being a public sector worker now facing redundancy – but it’s OK as I’m hugely reassured by multi-millionaires Dave and George saying we’re all in this together.

Now equipped with brand new D'addario strings and professionally set up done by Bolton Luthier Phil Hartley, the bass is in “as new” condition having been used a few times at home for practice purposes only. I’m looking for around £300 for this immaculate instrument.

I have initially shown a general photo but will be more than happy to supply any pictures you may require. I’ve a decent camera and can hopefully show prospective buyers some good detail. The eagled eyed amongst you will notice that the strings in the picture are not D'addarios! This is because I took some pictures before the bass went to the luthiers (just in case).

(I am sadly and very reluctantly selling my Rickenbacker 4003 too, please see my other listing if you are interested).

I would prefer collection only as I've had bad courier experiences in the past. I’m happy to travel a reasonable to distance to exchange the item for cash or further afield with modest re-imbursement of my fuel costs.

8.
I've had this with a few sets, and on guitars, it seems to be the G string doing it.

Check that the string is making contact with the nut properly.
Could also be the break angle between the nut and tuning post.
A dogdey string, I've had it countless times, normally the cheaper strings tho, hartke strings do the same or they have a dead g string.

11.
If anyone wants to buy it and let me have first dibs in September if they change their mind that would be great!

I havent even got a dog treat we have run out (really, we need to get some tomorrow!) I think if it were not so near to christmas this baby would be gone at this fair price Mart? I have mentioned this to the wife but there wasnt much of a response so I will take that as a no.
12.
Yeah im interested in these basses to...Where are they made, whats the spec difference, presuming there are some..my SR5 was killer.. could i expect the same super B string and build quality...
acording to the reviews swamp ash body all else us design, well made, much the same the us ones but made in indonisia, as are the g&l's aswell as the corts and Laklands.

13. I'm thinking of getting a sterling ray 35, every review I've read says good things, I've had several stingray 5's in the past but cannot justify the high price tag for a back up bass.
Gimme your thoughts ,opinions whether you got one, tried one ect.
Black or honey burst?? ect
